Fantastic!

A wonderful guest house. Clean, quiet, and secluded but still close to Oliver. We really enjoyed our stay and will certainly return. The owners are lovely.

Peace and Quiet in Wine Country

A wonderful place hosted by equally wonderful people. Perfect for complete getaway or home base in a fantastic part of our world -- the Okanagan. Everything has been thought of here, and the set-up is cool: two complete suites each for 2, with a shared kitchen in the middle -- really perfect for family of traveling couples. Great place!

Remote getaway

Loved the privacy, remoteness, cleanliness, views, wildlife, amenities and hacienda style cottage. One tip: remove the wasp nest under the roof, they are a nuisance.

Beautiful and remote adobe cabin

Quiet, quaint, remote and well supplied. Excellent little getaway located less than ten minutes from Okanagan wineries. Beautiful, natural surroundings. Nicely furnished. Well stocked (though shared) kitchen. Can be booked as one room (for two) or as two rooms (for four total). Owner/operator is super nice and helpful with tips for the area. Would definitely book again and recommend to friends.

Stay in wine country

We had a wonderful stay in the guest house at High Chapparal. We stayed with another couple(friends in our bubble) which was great fun. The location is what we all enjoyed the most, as the house is located on a ranch which is part of the Nature Conservancy so it beautiful and wild and very much a place for peace and quiet! The host, Linda, was easy to get hold of, and pleasant & helpful with any questions. We'll definitely be back!

Quiet and relaxing

We were on an anniversary mini-trip. The unit is remote, but not too remote. It's furnished intelligently and has ample info about the area. But the coolest thing is how quiet it is there. Not a sound at night and that, along with the comfortable bed, makes for a great night's sleep. Highly recommended.

Wilderness retreat with unbelievable views

This small adobe style guest house is spectacular. It’s a hidden gem just short drive from the main town of Oliver. If you love only the sound of birds and wildlife, this is the place to unplug, unwind and relax. The place was spotlessly clean, great linens and comfy bed. Like ‘glamping’, without sacrificing any comforts. The kitchen is well equipped and makes it the perfect spot to go pick up supplies and your favourite wines and bring back to cook up and enjoy the views. Fabulous spot, cannot wait to come back again. Check in was easy and Linda was available and came to meet us when we arrived. We loved our stay.

Relaxing stay

We had a great time. The property was clean and nicely kept and the kitchen was very well equipped. We spent most of our time sitting on the patio and enjoying the view. It is close to wineries but far enough away from traffic and busy tourist spots. The property is located on a gravel road so make sure you have a vehicle that can get in there. We had an suv which easily made it up. Wifi is good but carefully monitor your usage as it’s limited. We would definitely stay again.

Beautiful South Okanagan

This is a good property for two couples to share, as each suite is self-contained and private, with the kitchen being a separate, shared room. There is no dining area other than the patio, which in summer is ideal except that when we were visiting forest fire smoke made the patio a bit less than perfect. Regardless, the Okanagan is beautiful country and Oliver is a good place to stay when wine touring (we did the Osoyoos/Oliver region one day and the Naramata Bench the second.)

Peace and quiet, room to think

We enjoyed 3 nights of hard-to-find peace and quiet here. My favourite thing was simply getting up early and sitting on the front verandah with my coffee, breathing in the view, and listening for the deer to appear at the bottom of the hill (they did). This is a completely isolated spot with no other house in sight; but it is only a 10 minute drive to Oliver (where a lunch or dinner at Miradoro at Tinhorn Creek Winery is a memorable indulgence), and a 30 minute drive to Penticton (down the spectacular east side of Skaha Lake - a stunning drive), with Naramata, Peachland, and other Okanagan wonders just beyond. Linda was very easy to communicate with and very helpful.

The smiles say it all!

For the sake of our four-legged family members (Vivian and Ringo), we traveled to Canada and the High Chaparral Guest House to escape the fireworks frenzy that occurs over Independence Day in the United States. We could not have asked for a better getaway! The scenery was stunning, the accommodations were first rate, and the friendly hosts have thought of everything to make your stay comfortable (including a complimentary bottle of wine upon arrival!). We enjoyed exploring the 80-acre property with the dogs and the numerous dog-friendly vineyards in the region. Right on the property, we saw multiple deer with their fawns, a black bear with her cub, more bird varieties than we could count (including quail with their many chicks), and many beautiful high-desert flowers. Thank you Linda and Bruce for your efforts to preserve and protect this unique land and for allowing us to visit it. The dogs had many good and active dreams each night after their adventures, and we have lasting memories of the beautiful High Chaparral! Thank you again for being dog-friendly‼

Paradise!

I booked the entire guesthouse for us and another couple who were from out of town. I have never tried booking on VRBO but was very impressed with the experience. The description of the property was on point. The property is very isolated and tranquil and the views are spectacular! I met Linda and she was very pleasant, flexible and accommodating to our needs. I was very impressed with Linda's passion in nature conservation and has dedicated herself to limiting property development on her 80 acres thus us being able to enjoy all the wildlife (saw a doe and mama deer, grouse and eagles and woodpeckers) and nature. My husband enjoyed hiking on the property. The communal kitchen was great, with all necessary spices, dishes and appliances needed to have meals made. All the signage that Linda has posted around the kitchen and within the suite made any questions we did have such as operation of the air conditioning unit etc. easy for us to navigate. The unit was lovely and tastefully appointed (cow hide rug, leather couches, nice duvets, glass door on shower stall, etc). The queen bed was very comfortable for sleeping and having the windows open at night was great to hear all the wildlife. We were situated very close to multiple wineries and various eating options. I recommend to do a farm tour at covert farms and eat at Terrafina at Hester Creek Winery. I without a doubt highly recommend this accommodation and will book in the future. :) Thanks Linda good job! Serine Oasis

Serine oasis just off the beaten path. Surrounded by nature and wildlife (Deer, Birds and Crickets). The perfect place to start the day and come back to after a day of wine touring and exploring the south okanagan. Highly recommended.

Just what we needed!

The High Chapparel guest house was perfect for our quiet get-away with friends. We loved being on the edge of the desert in this special part of BC. We enjoyed the solitude and proximity to nature yet it was a short drive to many great wineries. The guesthouse was very clean and comfortable.

Get a break from your busy life.

Property: Truly unique. Situated off the beaten track, an opportunity to listen to the silence, escape the busy life and enjoy nature at your front door. If you are here for the wine - you can start tasting in 15 to 20 minutes drive. Hosts: Linda and Bruce went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. Great detail to attention. They care. If you need entertainment: Bring a player with DVD's or download movies. The WiFi is limited. A good thing if you need time away from it all. Will stay here again.

What a beautiful surprise! We knew our stay would be good but the location, views, newness of the accommodation was amazing. Linda and her husband were warm, welcoming. Definitely a place to return to regularly! Thank you!
