About this property
Mohawk Manor ~ 5 min to Skiing at Mohawk Mtn!
Summary:
Mohawk Manor is a spacious and chic escape located just minutes from the hamlet of Cornwall and only 2.5 hours from NYC.
Set on a quiet road, the house has 5 bedrooms and 3.5 baths. This is a perfect remote work getaway and also great for families or friends. The house features a high-end kitchen, two fireplaces, designer furniture, four-season sunroom and a well-appointed outdoor patio.
The Space:
Mohawk Manor benefits from being set amidst the picturesque New England tableaux of Litchfield County, Connecticut, and having the outdoor pursuits of the foothills of the Berkshire Mountains on its doorstep. This elegantly-designed, spacious post and beam home is big on uber-comfortable, bright spots that make this a dynamite getaway a year-round destination.
Exposed beams and two brick fireplaces anchor the character that fills the main living spaces. The beautifully-appointed chef’s kitchen has a generous marble island with bar stools and is open to the dining area.
Gather on the green velvet sofa beside one of the fireplaces for movie night, or head to the large sunken sunroom (our favorite space in the house) for post-prandial conversation. Grab a book and melt in the hanging egg seat, or bring your cup of coffee into the lounge and start your day appreciating the serene garden views.
Through the French doors is a second lovely seating space with a propane fireplace. The first-floor bedroom has a queen-sized bed looking out through the floor-to-ceiling bay windows with a view of the front garden. Rounding out the first floor is a half bath and the entry mudroom which also doubles as the laundry room.
On the way upstairs is a full bath with a clawfoot tub, then three bedrooms on the second floor. The nursery has a built-in bookcase with a collection of children’s books and games. The “kids’” room features a full-sized bed with exposed beams. The primary bedroom is an expansive king-sized bedroom with white paneled cathedral ceilings and views out to the gazebo and pond. The room also has an en-suite bathroom with a walk-in shower and double sinks.
Above the garage is an “in-law” suite that has a private staircase up to a large open room with a king-sized bed, a sofa, and a desk. There is an en-suite full bath with a tub/shower.
The grounds are thoughtfully landscaped with delightful stone walls and perennial plantings and include a sweeping bluestone patio that easily accommodates lounge seating, dining, and a gas grill. Gather in the gazebo for some additional shade on a hot day, or take quiet time to sit by the ornamental pond.
