All the interiors of our 100 year-old, 5th generation, family-owned Adirondack camp, are done in the original warm, lacquered southern pine. The home is called "Little Naumkeag." Naumkeag means "fishing place" in the Algonquin language.
The historic home has direct lake views, large front yard, six bedrooms, formal living and dining room, family room with large-screen smart tv and high-speed WIFI, cable, DVD player (with many children's DVD's), 2 fireplaces, 2 & 1/2 baths, modern washer & dryer.
And best of all, it has an open floor plan kitchen. In fact, we recently renovated the kitchen, which now has large farm sink, gas range, dishwasher, microwave, ample storage & counter space, American fridge, open plan for numerous cooks, bar stools & high counter for "helpers".
We also recently walled in one of our historic sheds to create a terrific game room for pool and/or ping pong. Perfect if it rains.
We have 100 feet of frontage on 4th lake, which is 1 mile across and 7 miles long, ideal for swimming, boating, fishing and water skiing. Two docks at the lake make water sports fun. Use of our kayaks and canoes is included in weekly rental, and a large family-friendly pontoon boat is available for an additional charge.
The 6 bedrooms are laid out as follows:
* Upstairs King Master with additional single bed and private sink.
* Upstairs Queen
* Upstairs Twin (two twins).
* Upstairs Single
* Downstairs King Master with ensuite bathroom & private fireplace
* Downstair Double with semi-private 1/2 bath.
The house sits directly on 4th lake of the famous Fulton Chain of Lakes in the center of the Adirondack National Park. A wooded path and steps leads down to our private dock with 100 feet of lakefront right on the water. Dock can accommodate a boat up to 18 feet. We also have a smaller dock for canoe/kayak launching.
Included in the rental is use of 2 canoes and 2 kayaks. Additionally, at owners discretion, an 18 foot pontoon boat is available for rent for $1800 weekly with a deposit of $800 required. We also allow dogs, pet fee $200 (extra $125 security deposit requested).
Approximately a half mile from our dock is the inlet to the town of Inlet, with child-friendly sand beach, lifeguards and children's park. You can also get to the historic & quaint town of Inlet on foot - a quick and easy 5-minute walk. Inlet has a good selection of restaurants, gift stores, an historic post office & library, a local well-stocked supermarket and small hardware/clothing/department store.
NOTE: WEEKS RUN SUNDAY TO SUNDAY. CHECK IN 4PM, CHECK OUT 10 AM.
20 minutes west of us is the town of Old Forge, with great restaurants, a good children's sand beach, stores and shopping and the largest water park in New York State, the Adirondack Water Safari & Enchanted Forest, featuring over 50 rides & attractions. https://www.watersafari.com/.
One half hour the other direction is the legendary Adirondack Sagamore Great Camp, built in 1897 and open to the public. A bit further is the Adirondack Experience Museum on Blue Mountain Lake, spread across 121 acres with indoor and outdoor exhibits covering Adirondack lore, early timber mining, ice fishing, Native American & pioneer exhibits and prized collections of antique boats and trains - perfect for children of all ages. https://www.theadkx.org/
As we are in the middle of the 6 million acre Adirondack Park, the largest publicly protected area in the contiguous United States, there is plenty of hiking and climbing right next door, from Bald Mountain and Rocky Mountain across the lake to the famous Adirondack High Peaks, boasting 46 mountains, the highest of which, Marcy, stands at 5,400 feat tall.
So, whether you want to stay local and enjoy water sports, head into town for some shopping or head off for kids' or grownup activities, our home, "Little Naumkeag" is the perfect place for a family or friend reunion or mountain getaway.

A true rustic camp experience
Location was awesome. Great sunsets on the dock. Stairs are steep but you get used to them. We used the linen and boat packages and they have EVERYTHING we needed. Kitchen is stocked! The house is very spacious and fit our extended family comfortably. WiFi and cable service was very good.

Perfect
This historical cabin has everything you need making it perfect for a family getaway. Its nestled in the woods so it is very private .The house is spacious so that even if with rainy days, you have room to spread out in the house. The private backyard allows another area to gather, which was wonderful for all ages . The large dock has magnificent views of the lake and we loved being able to kayak and canoe right from the property. We also enjoyed the proximity and convenience of being able to walk to the town of Inlet, shops and town park. We would definitely like to return next year!

On the water and close to town
We had a nice time here. The house is old and rustic, but comfortable. It’s in a great location - just a short walk to Inlet and a quick drive to Old Forge. It was very convenient having a few kayaks and canoes already waiting on the dock when we arrived, so we able to spend a lot of time on the water. Overall, it was a pleasant and relaxing week.
