We loved Starfish Cottage

7 years ago we stayed at Dennis’ Whale of a View cottage 2 doors down and this is why we came back again, this time staying at Starfish Cottage which has been updated a few times since we stayed at WOAV my in 2017. In 2018, a spacious Captain’s Bedroom was added on to Starfish Cottage which now has a screened in family room right off it and also an outdoor deck in front of that room. Earlier this year, a new living room with plenty of windows was added off the multi-use lounge/dining seating area which is off the kitchen. Painted bright white, it was a beautiful space to sit each morning as everyone was getting ready for the day ahead. With views of the loft bedroom with its high ceilings overlooking the dining/kitchen area, it made the whole space feel very spacious. If you enjoy history, you’ll see the love that Dennis, his wife and their family have poured into the cottages preserving a lot of local heritage items decorating the cottages that tell a lot of the history of the Island. Located near Head Harbour Lighthouse on Lighthouse Road, it gives you easy access to all of the Island’s attractions and from the backyard of the cottage you have an incredible view of the bay with Deer Island across the way. We saw many whales and porpoises over the week we were there from the backyard. Roosevelt International Park will keep you busy for several days, and make sure you do Tea with Eleanor! We loved staying at Starfish Cottage and we’re sure you will too!

Inter generation family get together

Location location location for tranquility, serenity and solitude. The property is a gem with a million dollar view. We enjoyed some outings but for the most part we occupied ourselves relaxing on the deck and screened in porch: games , puzzles and watching for the elusive whale. The weather was excellent, between 18 and 23 degrees, a little rain but mostly sun. Wish we had time to stay longer!

Forever memories

This property was everything and more I hoped it would be. Not only seeing whales but hearing them is a memory that will forever be etched in my mind. Seeing the dolphins and seals play…no words. All of this from beautiful Starfish Cottage. The cottage had the most comfortable beds and everything we could possibly need during our week’s stay. We will definitely be going back. Wonderful Retreat

Starfish Cottage was a perfect location and accommodation for an August get away. The views from the cottage are stunning. The screened in porch was a great place to hang out and for meals. The Adirondack chairs overlooking the water afforded several whale sightings. The cottage was well equipped and comfortable. We enjoyed exploring the island -- the Roosevelt Park, the beaches, the carriage trails on bike, and the gold course. Looking forward to a return.

Wonderful

A wonderful house. Well-maintained, well-stocked - we lacked for nothing. Very thoughtful hosts as well - lots of information in the house about the history of the island, notable residents, etc. Really appreciated. However- not at all a reflection of the house but more the amenities on the island and this may be related to the pandemic and maybe US travel restrictions but that has to be one of the saddest grocery stores we've ever been to. Very limited choice and, again, maybe pandemic related, the island is very limited in terms of restaurants. But the people we dealt with were great. A really nice stay overall.

Amazing property

First of all we loved the property. The cottage is beautiful and the setting is too. However, we found some of the amenities could have been better. Before we could use the pots and pans, we had to scour them. ....they were old, thin and filthy. There were no sharp knives in the drawer so cutting veggies for supper was a real challenge. They had lots of kleenex in the cupboards but we ran out of toilet paper (only 1 1/2 small rolls). There were no paper towels ir garbage bags either. So it was a bit inconvenient but otherwise a wonderful visit to a beautiful part of our province. Would go again.

Amazing!!

Dennis and Karen both are incredible!! The ferry was down to campobello so Dennis arranged for a local fisherman to pick us up so our trip wouldn’t be ruined. The friendliness of the folks on the island is unbelievable, and the place was BEAUTIFUL and very clean. It also has everything you would need and more. My only tip would be to make sure you know how to use a charcoal bbq!

An excellent getaway

So, the internet wasn't working, but really that only helped us to disconnect from the world and relax! The view was incredible. We all spent hours mesmerized by the water. It was all that we were promised. A beautiful cottage, well appointed, decorated and a master bedroom to die for! Dennis was always quick to respond which helped us arrange this trip with short notice. Much appreciated!

Relaxing on Bay of Fundy

This was our second time staying at Starfish. We love it for the large backyard for the pups. Plenty of room to chase a ball and run. The addition to the cottage is fabulous. Much more indoor space. Cottage is equipped with everything you need. Bring your own spices if you plan to cook as we did most meals as restaurants are closed or slowing down in the fall. We did stop at The Porch twice for fresh pastries and cake- great deserts ! Dennis was great and supportive. Highly recommended.

Peaceful quiet paradise

Lovely stay in a quaint and tastefully decorated cottage with everything needed for a relaxing visit. The master bedroom views are fabulous and sunsets are indescribable. I may have lucked out with such sunny and warm weather in later September as that was perfect also. Plenty to do in terms of relaxing, reading, exploring nearby particularly Roosevelt Campobello International Park which I visited three times. Fun Trip!

Early June getaway

This cottage was the perfect home base for our week away - quiet, private, scenic, comfortable. The one small bathroom might be a bit of an issue with four or more people, but for two of us it was very ample. I'm still enjoying the screened-in porch in recollection - a sweet spot indeed. And we found plenty of exploration to do on the island all week (the trails at the international park were a standout, especially the bog trail and the coastal lookouts). You might want to bring your own condiments, spices, and cooking oils if you plan to cook, but the kitchen has everything you would want in the way of equipment (and a beautiful view of the water too). We loved staying there and will definitely hope to return again in future.

Beautiful cottage

After a wonderful stay at the Starfish Cottage a few years ago, I came back with my mom for a second visit. The cottage is perfect and well-maintained -- the views from the main bedroom, kitchen, and deck can't be beat. We were greeted on our first morning by a bald eagle in the backyard and thoroughly enjoyed our 3-night stay. Looking forward to coming back again.

Perfect Campobello Cottage

Perfect setting with ocean views complete with Bald Eagles, Seals, Whales. Walking distance to lighthouse. Despite being close to the road it was very private and quiet. Forested on both sides with large sweeping lawn behind the cottage. The cottage beautiful, quaint and well designed. Master bedroom with large windows and sliding door to large deck. Beds comfortable. Kitchen with all the necessities. Screened porch a lovely place to curl up with one of their books or magazines (many concerning the history of the island) Can’t recommend enough! Owners wonderful, available, and very helpful.

Margaret and I are from Evansville, Indiana and in 1988 with a 1 and 3 year old we went looking for a summer home to enjoy with our family and hopefully for future generations.
