Indulge in the splendor of majestic Lake Superior in this very private, four season, lakefront retreat immersed in nature. New cottage refresh April 2024 including new paint (walls and ceiling) and new vinyl plank flooring throughout. The spacious open concept design and large windows allow you to relish in the gorgeous view of Mink Bay and surrounding cliffs. Enjoy the convenience of a kitchen with basic sundries and a washer & dryer for longer stays. Pamper yourself in the hot tub after a day of hiking/snowshoeing the scenic trails and enjoy the stars...they shine brighter here! A slice of paradise

My partner and I had an amazing stay at The Loon’s Nest on Lake Superior. We had time to reconnect with nature and each other. It was as if time slowed down. Our hosts were extremely professionally and organized and provided detailed instructions for how to best enjoy our stay. The property was extremely clean and the kitchen well equipped. We would not hesitate to revisit the property and hope to do so soon.

Excellent Host

Our stay at Loon’s Nest was exceptional. Our host Brian was very informative and helpful and gave suggestions about places to see. We had everything we needed and there wasn’t anything lacking in the kitchen, bathroom or outdoors. The hot tub was an added bonus. We would highly recommend these accommodations to anyone.

Christmas getaway

My partner and I stayed here during the holidays this year. The property was very clean and well kept, inside the property was absolutely stunning. It was so beautifully decorated and impeccably clean as well as well stocked with pretty much anything you may need during your stay. The hottub was so relaxing and clean. The owners are incredibly helpful and friendly. We will absolutely be making another getaway here. It was perfect

An Idyllic Retreat

We had an absolutely amazing experience at the Loon's Nest on Superior! The charming cottage exceeded all our expectations. From the moment we stepped in, it was clear how well-maintained and spotlessly clean the cottage was. The three nights we spent there were filled with warmth, comfort, and quality time with family. The cottage was impressively equipped with everything we needed, making our stay incredibly convenient. An amazing stay!

Our family loves this home! The house is beautiful, and the views are stunning! We certainly recommend this home. The cottage is well stocked, and we have yet to find a host who puts as much effort in as Brian and his family!

Slice of Paradise

Met up with a few friends from all over the province for a bachelor party. This listing checked all the boxes for accommodation and amenities. The hosts really considered everything you could possibly need to only show up with a bag of clothes. Brian and I were in contact long before our arrival and he quickly and politely was able to answer any questions I had. Check in was very smooth. This place has had a lot of attention paid to details. The decor and furniture are top notch, and the awesome tv/soundbar setup ensured the music was always coming through clean. The hot tub was the main draw for me, and it was great! Sheltered from direct sun/rain, but with a breathtaking view of the lake. I found myself just staring quite a few times. If you are looking for a comfortable stay in a beautiful location with excellent hosts then look no further. This is as low-maintenance (with some luxury living) as you can get. Thank you for the memories Loon's Nest!

Amazing weekend

Had a lovely weekend at the Loons Nest! very easy to run and straightforward instructions to operate cottage and appliances. Neatly labelled drawers, cupboards etc made finding things simple. Short 5-10 minute walk from the cottage to the picnic point trailhead and lake walk trail making the location that much more appealing! Highly recommend the stay! We will be back!

No better way to enter the New Year than at Loons Nest

We got this getaway as a Christmas gift for our children and boy, did we ever enjoy it! Everything from the linens to the pellet stove to the view were simply the best. Our children are ages 11, 10 and 6 and all had a blast exploring, hot tubbing, making snow tunnels, sliding, playing games and watching movies together as a family. Such a great way to celebrate the New Year. Can’t wait to return in the near future ❤️

Girls weekend 2021

We enjoyed the Loon’s Nest for our girls weekend celebrating years of friendship and our 55th bdays. . Loon’s nest was clean and well equipped with everything you need to enjoy your getaway. Beautiful view and very cozy cottage to relax. We went on a hike to experience the breathtaking view of Lake Superior also. Will definitely book again.

Loon's Nest is a beautiful place to relax!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Loon's Nest. The cottage is perfect with its open floor plan and lots of windows providing plenty of natural light and fantastic views of Lake Superior. The cottage is also very nicely and thoughtfully decorated. It is the perfect place to relax and unwind whether you enjoy unwinding in the hot tub while looking out over the lake or hiking the Mink Mountain trails and catching the magnificent views of the lake from the lookouts or along the Lakewalk Trail. We highly recommend staying at Loon's Nest for a relaxing getaway!

Lovely Loon's Nest

My husband and I stayed at Loon's Nest from July 13-18 and thoroughly enjoyed it. The property is lovely and situated with great view of Lake Superior. The interior is welcoming and well stocked with absolutely everything you need including such things as spices which are so appreciated. We had outstanding weather during our vacation so as much time as possible was spent outside, however, if it rained, the cottage is well equipped with games, puzzles and of course, the hot tub. We were within reasonable drives to Sleeping Giant, Terry Fox Memorial, beaches, Kakabeka Falls, Ouimet Canyon and Thunder Bay. I have to also add, the bed at the cottage was very comfortable as well!! Would stay here again and recommend to friends travelling to TBay - what a spectacular part of Ontario Thanks to Brian and Catharine for sharing your piece of paradise on Superior.

Beautiful location and home

Our family had an amazing time. The house was very clean and had a great cosy feel. The property was beautifully manicured and there was a lot of space to play and explore. Beautiful hiking trails just a walk away. An added bonus and necessary for our family was having a place that was accessible which this was and allowed my dad to be able to maneuver himself around and enjoy being out in nature in a comfortable setting that he felt safe in. We will definitely be booking again.

Getaway close to home

Me and my fiancé loved this property! We had so much fun hiking, hot tubbing, relaxing by the fire and playing board games. The location truly had every amenity we could have asked for. Relaxing Weekend Away

The Loon's Nest is exactly as described/shown. Impeccably clean, with so many unique and cozy details. The hot tub over looking Lake Superior is breath-taking and the cabin itself is full of comfort and relaxation. Make sure to take in the hiking trails located all around the area for some more amazing views! Much thanks to Brain and Catherine for providing such an excellent accommodation! Girls Getaway Weekend

This property was beautiful right from the beginning - the drive in was beautiful, the view was beautiful, and when you enter the house it's even better than the photos. All of the amenities provided made the stay relaxing and stress free, and the view of the water and all of the walking trails close by made for a wonderful weekend. There are even some games to play and books to read, which was great since we forgot about bringing games! You won't regret staying here and everyone in the area that we came across was super friendly. 5 stars all around!

Relaxing Getaway

We had a great stay at Brian and Family’s cottage. The cottage has a stunning view of Lake Superior, and is very quiet and serene. I especially enjoyed taking in the view from the hot tub. The cottage is well stocked and has everything you might need. It was clear that the owners took pride in making the cottage as comfortable as possible for guests. We (Brian, Catharine and Eloise) live in Thunder Bay and enjoy escaping to our cottage whenever we can. We love sharing our getaway with guests and strive to make your stay as easy and enjoyable as possible.

Why they chose this property

A gorgeous lakefront property on spectacular north shore of Lake Superior. And yes we do have lake access right out front so you are welcome to bring your water toys, go for a quick dip if you are brave or just sit on the shore and enjoy the view. We are located approximately 45 minutes from the Thunder Bay Airport (YQT) and the city of Thunder Bay proper. To our American guests, our cottage is 45 minutes (30 miles) from the Pigeon River Border Crossing and 5 1/2 hours (330 miles) from Minneapolis.
