A little retreat

The location is in a beautiful area. It was a unique and cozy home to enjoy a long weekend in and the hot tub was a lovely bonus. The kitchen had anything one might need including a blender and there was plenty of seating available for all of us. We would definitely come back here again.

Women's Reading Break Getaway

3 friends who like to spend a few days away every year with books to read and food to share. We enjoyed companionable quiet, loads of laughter, soothing soaks and a movie! We were glad we arrived in daylight because we were not prepared for the steepness of the driveway. It is very steep and has a switchback. The home was very clean but unfortunately there was a musty odour throughout. We opened some doors and windows upon our arrival which helped. The hot tub was incredbly clean and we enjoyed it a lot!Overall this is a good value stay.

Nice home with Hot Tub & Great View

We had a great stay! Close to the ocean and great view from the deck! Unfortunately the weather wasnt the best so having the wood fireplace and the hot tub was definitely a bonus.

Fabulous weekend!

We had a wonderful time at the cottage. Beautiful views, spacious and well designed home. We enjoyed wonderful hikes and beautiful post hike meals with a view off the deck! The nook around the fireplace was perfect for reading/ knitting/ chatting/ and studying for those at University! Highly recommend this cottage.

A perfect get away spot for peace and quiet and close to Galloping Goose Trail for biking

Two story with large deck. A musty odor quite noticable upon entry. Three bedrooms and one of the bathrooms are upstairs. Home uniquely designed with its upstairs landing looking down on main floor. Lots of windows looking out on beautiful surroundings especially great view from upstairs at night with stars and lights from Sooke across the way. Very peaceful. Hot tub was great after our long bike rides and in the evenings. Outside string of lights gave it a very nice ambiance. Enjoyed it every day. Fireplace was also so nice and used every day as temperatures still cool in mornings and evenings. We were a group of 3 couples. Bunk bed room did not have much for extra furnishings or special touches. But it was workable and lower double bed was comfy. Home was clean and very well supplied. Lots of seating for a group - benches in fireplace area good place to stretch out and lounge. Fully fenced back yard great for pets. Driveway took getting used to as it is a bit steep with couple sharp turns on the way up. Well marked with reflectors. Limited parking at the top. But after second trip up no problem. We were here to go biking. This location is a perfect spot for access to the Galloping Goose trail. Due to the steeper driveway and narrow roads we did not ride bikes from the house but a short drive away can access the trail from Roche Creek Regional park - 8 min.drive or from Sooke Pot Holes Provincial park - 26 min. drive. We were quite comfortable and had a great time.

East Sooke Vacation Home

The property was incredibly clean and tidy. We loved the wood stove and the fact that there was plenty of firewood ready to go. The view was beautiful and the hot tub was enjoyed by all. The island in the kitchen was useful and really allowed us to prep meals without bumping into one another. The host was helpful and we appreciated the extra time when entering and leaving the property. Some suggestions to stay competitive: 1) Have the address numbers at the bottom of the driveway reflective so they can be seen in the dark. Almost impossible to see the driveway entrance in the dark. 2) Make sure clients are aware of the steepness of the driveway, especially in the off season months. 3) The motion detection lights at the front of the house were not working and this made it difficult to see when approaching the house to park. 4) Consider replacing or repairing frying pans that are old and losing their coating. 5) Have a manual for the wood stove, hot tub, and barbecue close at hand in case of malfunctions. It took considerable effort to start the barbecue and figure out the dampening system on the wood stove. 6) When I booked the home, I indicated there would be a child with us. After I noticed the paperwork only said 5 adults, I corrected that by paying for an extra person. However, I continued to receive paperwork that only had 5 adults on it. I would be looking for consistency in paperwork when I book my next holiday.

Making Memories That Last A Lifetime

We came out here from Kitchener to visit family that live in in Kelowna. We're here and we had a wonderful time connecting with each other. The cottage was perfect for that. The area was wonderful to explore. Lots of wildlife and serene places to visit. We are thankful for this trip 😊

Cottage

Very nice house/cottage off the beaten path. Older style and furnishings, but very clean and well maintained property. We enjoyed the winding back roads, local beaches and rocky points with the forested property. After each day’s adventures as the nights cooled of, the hot tube was a welcome site. Most touristy places were about an hour drive from this location for us it worked well. If nothing else the driveway is adventure in it self. Would stay here again for sure!

Great vacation home

We had four adults stay at this property and we all agreed it was an excellent home. The home has everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. Secluded, quiet beautiful view, the hot tub was great to use after long days of hiking the amazing trails close by. Would definitely recommend Andover cottage for anyone staying on the island.

Very satisfied with the Andover Cottage

We really enjoyed our stay at the Andover Cottage!! It had lots of space for everyone and we really enjoyed the big deck and outdoor hot tub. We also loved the fact that it was away from all the busy traffic. We had fun walking to the tennis courts and played tennis quite often (with the tennis racquets and balls that were in the cottage) and went to the park which was nearby. Our only complaint was that there was as a musty smell in the cottage and my daughter’s asthma was acting up a lot, she thought it was because of all the carpet in the cottage. Overall we had a great time and had very good communication with the owner.

Relaxation Plus

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Andover Cottage. Having moved away from Victoria 6 years ago, it was nice to relive some of our memories. The fenced yard was safe and secure for our puppy. The hot tub was the saving grace from road construction and traffic. Would visit again although not anytime soon as we are purchasing our own hot tub to enjoy.

Feels like grandmas house

Andover cottage is a unique and cozy getaway. We enjoyed our stay and particularly loved the sunken area, which we fondly called “the conversation pit”. We were warned the driveway is steep, is it ever! However we were provided everything we needed to make our arrival, stay and departure safe even during extended winter weather.

Perfect getaway spot

The home was a perfect place for a friends and family getaway. Its much larger than it appears and wants for nothing. The view is mostly obscured by the trees, however it gives the feeling of being in a forest, perched on a hill with peekaboo views. The only mention I'd have for improvement would be to change the shower curtain bar to a curved one, and upgrade the master bedroom mattress. The home was cozy, retro, warm and inviting. We all said that we'd book it again in a heartbeat. Thanks for your help Rob.
