Worst experience I've ever had
I'll have to start with negatives first because they ruined our entire stay unfortunately. The property manager/owner failed to notify us that there was major construction going on directly above our unit. Every morning between 7:15 and 7:30am we were awoken by drilling and banging directly above us. The workers would gain access to the rooftop by using our patio. Work would continue until 4pm or later each day of our 5 night stay. This was so loud that it drove us out of the unit. The chemicals used by the workers made it impossible to use the pool half the time. Couldn't stay in unit. Couldn't use rooftop patio and couldn't use pool. This occurred every day of our trip but one (Sunday).
Contacted property manager, Roger. He denied knowing about any construction. After speaking with other owners in the building, it was obvious that Roger was well aware of the construction as it had been going on since September.
When I voiced my displeasure to Roger, his response was "leave, nobody is stopping you."
Further communication with Roger was negative. He would take more than a day to respond and offered no relocation options to us. No discount or compensation was offered either.
Owners were contacted and relayed the message to us that it was in the rules that noise could be made during the hours of 8-4. There's a big difference between noise from a radio or children playing and a construction crew coming through your ceiling!
I've stayed in many properties through VRBO/Homeaway and own and operate 2 vacation properties myself on VRBO. I would never rent a unit to someone without giving them fair warning that there was construction ongoing. Roger and the owners of this unit have no idea how to deal with something like this. Roger lied and then became uncooperative when I called him on it.
As far as the unit itself. It is similar to the pictures. Dated but spacious. The rooftop patio was one of the main reasons we chose this unit. Had we been able to actually use it, I'm sure it would have been a nice feature.
Although linens were fresh and floors were cleaned, overall the place is dirty. Stains on cupboards that could easily be wiped down but aren't. Carpet in the bathroom is not a sanitary option. Imagine 40 years of urine splashing on it beside the toilet area.
Musty smell due to all the old carpet throughout. Some of the dishes in cupboards had not been washed.
Months old spiderwebs in corners of bedroom etc.
Location is the big and only positive
