About this property

Swift Mountain Lodge - loghouse by the river

Surrounded by forests, mountains and rivers, this fantastic house awaits you in a rustic ambience in absolute seclusion.
Nevertheless, you do not have to go without a certain extend of luxury and the town is still in walking distance.
Swift Mountain Lodge is set in 40 acres of land in a clearing along a river that is known for spawning salmon in late summer.

The light rush of the nearby river, the location of the house in the middle of nature and the view over the wooded valley on the opposite mountain chain will make you forget the everyday life.

Through a private access road, which is maintained all year round, you reach Swift Mountain Lodge from the village of Valemount. Despite absolute tranquillity you can reach the village even by foot in 15 minutes. There are several shops such as bakery, supermarket, pharmacy, drugstore, bank and several cafes and restaurants.

The house is surrounded by a large veranda, with table, chairs and lounge couches. Additionally there is a terrace with a fireplace and barbeque beside the house, as well as a log sauna and a wood-fired hot tub.
The house is completely furnished. In the kitchen you find sufficient dishes, as well as a fridge with freezer, oven and stove. We also provide our guests with bedlinen and towels.
On the ground floor there is a large living and dining area, in which a wood stove provides a cozy log cabin atmosphere. The room is generously equipped with seating. Additionally infloor heating can be used.
The spacious kitchen with a wide access contributes to the open atmosphere. In addition, there is a small bathroom with toilet and sink.

In the souterrain you will find two bedrooms and a bathroom with a spacious tub and shower. Washing machine and dryer can also be found in the basement.

The upper floor is equipped with two bedrooms, one with a large balcony and stunning view over the valley to the mountains. A beautiful bathroom with shower can also be found upstairs.

Business Licence for short-term rental.

Swift Mountain Family Getaway

This was our second visit to the charming Swift Mountain Lodge. We very much enjoyed both stays; it is a delightfully, cosy log home, perfect for a family getaway. We have come to really enjoy the Valemount community as well, a mountain community wilth a wide variety of activities to enjoy. The cabin was spotless and communication with the owner very helpful. We plan to return

Valemount getaway

We all had a wonderful time at this beautiful property. It’s location is amazing, completely private but just a short km from town. The best thing is it’s practically inside the bike park. We rode every day and it’s only about a 19 min ride to the first staging area. So convenient! Riding home for lunch was a breeze and very one could do their own thing without worrying about a vehicle. Also close to beautiful trials for running and hiking.

Valemount log home

The upper master bedroom and main level living area are very nice and well equipped. The lower level bedrooms are just average but do have their own bathroom. There is no TV and the wifi is a bit slow but that is to be expected. The nearby creek is not visible from the cabin unless you hike down a rocky slope. The front porch and upper bedroom deck are great for relaxing. Great food at the Caribou cafe.

Nice Place, Need AC and a television.

The cabin was great. We originally booked here because of location to Mt. Robson / Berg Lake. However, trails to Kinney Lake and Berg Lake were closed for the year. The location was not a great fit for Hiking to be done daily in Jasper and beyond. Sauna was excellent. Because of the temps rising into the upper seventies and low eighties, it would have been nice to have AC. We alternated sleeping upstairs "master bedroom" and down in the basement due to temps outside. The "master" bedroom did not have windows that opened and the sliding door to the balcony did not have a screen that would seal well enough to keep out the mosquitoes. Television, not a big deal, but just need to know that ahead of time. Views were great. Valemount restaurants were average at best and hours of operation were hit and miss. The Swiss bakery that we had hoped to try was only open Friday thru Monday 10:00 to 4:00. We were gone early for hiking and back late, so we never found them open. Great place to stay if your plans don't include hiking near Jasper and Columbia icefields most days.

Cozy cabin in beautiful, secluded setting

Karl's cabin is unique in the Valemount community. First, the location is on a property with beautiful views of the mountains, is secluded from any other people or traffic and is very quiet and woodsy. The spacious grounds include a separate wood-fired spa and sauna. Although we didn't try the spa, we found the sauna easy to use and it provided relaxing sessions for our minds and muscles after our long hikes. The house itself has very comfortable furniture in which to read a book or enjoy a quiet drink. The dinner table is spacious and has stunning views as you dine. The bedrooms, both upstairs and downstairs, have soft beds that allow for easy sleeping, although the master bedroom has a skylight that encourages early rousing in the morning. However, the master bathroom has recently been updated and the shower, sinks and size of the bathroom are luxurious. The kitchen has all the necessary appliances and amenities for cooking, but it would be helpful to have a few supplements such as measuring cups and spoons, and more pots with lids. But, we did rather enjoy the heated floors during the cool mornings while we were having our first cup of coffee. Another convenience was the location of the home to the nearest grocery store that was only five minutes away, and we took full advantage of the nearby Swiss bakery for its bread, muffins and rolls. Additionally, the home is situated close to scenic hiking trails, such as Kinney Lake trail that our family thought was lovely. It's only an hour away from Jasper National Park and we thought the various trails we hiked were absolutely breathtaking, particularly Opal Hills when it snowed on us! One of the best assets to staying at Karl's cabin was that he has a truly delightful young woman as a caretaker, Rebecca, who visited us on multiple occasions to introduce the functions of the house and to aid in a little troubleshooting when we were confused. Thank you, Rebecca, for always solving our problems. Karl's home was a delightful sanctuary during the week we visited and we were reluctant to leave as we had such a good experience there. Then, when the four bucks wandered by the steps of the home as they grazed on the plants in the front yard on our last morning there, it just seemed to enhance what a remarkable place it is and the memories it helped to create from our trip.

Great Winter Getaway

We booked Swift Mountain Lodge for 4 nights for a family snowmobile trip. We thoroughly enjoyed the privacy of the log cabin. Its located down a long driveway which gives you such nice privacy, it was so quiet during our stay. The home is excellently equipped with kitchen utensils, pots, pans, bowls etc. we brought a few extras with us but didn't need them in prepping our meals. The log home is very cozy and inviting we enjoyed having a wood burning stove to warm us up after days in the mountains. The beds were very comfortable and all the linens and towels provided were of good quality. The owner will be putting in a hot tub in the near future and that will put this property as number 1 in the area in our opinion. We would highly recommend Swift Mountain Lodge for any season and look forward to renting it again. Anja the caretaker was available for any inquiries we had and transferring over keys and access to the home was very smooth. Truly a gem in Valemount. Thank you

Lovely Cabin nestled in the mountain in the lovely town of Valemount

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It is nestled in the mountain and offers a lot of privacy and wide space around the property. Very suitable for families with children. Hosts have made every effort in making it cosy while maintaining the premium feel. Cabin was kept clean. Cabin offers functional space both indoors and outdoors. Property has direct access to swift river and and mountain which is great for hikes. Great for cycling. We commuted to Jasper, Wells Gray regional park and Mt. Robson from there. Valemount provides easy access to neighboring parks in general. Also offers great eating places and the Swiss bakery is worth a visit. Swift River offers salmon spawn watching and Swift Creek offers swims for those interested. Quiet town offering lots of adventures for outdoor lovers.

Stunning, large log cabin in complete seclusion

We didn’t want to leave this beautifully decorated log cabin. The photographs do not do it justice. It is in fact even better! There are three floors and 4 bedrooms so there is plenty of room for everyone to enjoy their own space. There is an enormous, stunning shower room on the top floor and a cozy, jacuzzi bath on the bottom floor. There is a wooden deck that wraps itself around the property which we enjoyed eating out on and admiring the amazing view. There is also a very attractive area to the side of the property with charcoal BBQ and fire pit with plenty of seating. Although completely secluded (unlike many other cabins in Valemount) it is only a 5 minute drive to the Swiss Bakery which makes 50 different types of bread as well as amazing pastries, muffins, croissants etc. and a couple more minutes to the main high street with a decent supermarket. The kitchen is well equipped with a large fridge/freezer, coffeemaker, kettle etc. There are lots of things to do locally and within 2 hours driving time but you will not want to leave the beautiful cabin! Book it, you will not be disappointed.

Modern secluded cabin

We had a great time at Swift Mountain Lodge. It mixes classic features like a wood stove-fireplace into a modern and beautiful home. The house was clean and well stocked with cook-ware, linens, and other general needs. It is located alone on a bluff where the sound of the nearby river was the only think breaking the mountain silence in a very secluded setting. We enjoyed using the fire pit, outdoor charcoal grill, and spacious porch. Several hikes were a short drive away, and a couple trails within walking distance. We would recommend it highly.
