Very dated and not functional

In previous reviews we knew the property was stated but we expected it to be functional. The shower in one of the bathrooms did not work.Curtain rods would fall off the walls windows don't open and close properly or all the way front door lock

Lack of communication!

I tried to contact Bond my assigned person to contact with any questions. I called and sent a e-mail days before my arrival with no response! Arrived at house and found a shower they was inoperable and easily visible by cleaning crew with handle broken off and left on shelf. Called plumber contact on Bulletin Board and there was no voice mail. All contact information was old from 2014! I have been renting in Catalina for 40 years and this is my worst experience.

Good location, could use updates

The house was able to accommodate us all fairly well. The location was about a mile walk to Descanso beach club, which wasn’t too bad considering the views on the walk. With that being said, the house could use some updates (shower, paint, curtain rods, etc.). Also, some cookware in the kitchen needs to be updated (mainly pots and pans). The outside of the house could also use some maintenance (cleaning out the shed, removing cob webs, etc.). Overall, my family enjoyed our stay on Catalina island.

Check in was terrible The place was not clean and people were in it. Told us to put our stuff outside and would not let us in. Maid came and cleaned the place and we got in at 430pm Everything else was good

the whole place is like a run down double wide trailer. in one bedroom there was a half curtain "hiding" a destroyed bathroom, tinfoil wrapped around shower handle to prevent leaking, plywood construction. Can't shut the bathroom doors while your sitting on the toilet. It's just very clear the owner puts zero money into upkeep of the property. For the same money you can do much better at one of the hotels

Management unwilling to help

There are exceptions to every rule. We had a death in the family and my daughter was not able to emotionally and physically make the trip. We did not ask for a refund- we just needed to reschedule. “Evolve” was unwilling to help due to timing. I will never recommend this company. They should be ashamed. Money is definitely more important to them than people.

Lovely, cozy place to stay

Our family of 5 had a lovely time in Avalon. The property was quaint and perfectly sized so we could spread out a little. It was the right distance from the grocery store & it helped save some money by being able to eat breakfast “at home”. It wasn’t too far away from all of the fun things to do & see.

We came for a Half Marathon Race. House has a great location. It was clean and cozy for our group. Windows need to be the next upgrade for the property. But for the good price, it was just right for our stay.

Cute Cottage

Good location, cute cottage but it could use a little TLC ( a few broken or dirty items and a messy closet/storage area in one of the rooms). Check-out said by 10 a.m. and at 9:40 a.m. the cleaning people were hovering outside of the front door. Overall though we did enjoy are time there and it was the perfect size for our group of 4 people.

Old and dingy

Don't do it. The place was old and dingy. The bathrooms were so small, we had to sit sideways to close the door. The back room had old items stored behind a curtain...it was a mess. On top of all that, the beds were very uncomfortable.

This was a OG vintage Catalina beach rental. It was very clean and the location is superb. We had no water pressure issues like in other reviews. It was quirky and fun. It even has an old skool built in tuner and record player. It was a perfect weekend getaway. It’s not the Ritz but it gives you the vintage Catalina beach getaway. We would stay there again.

Not As Described

First, let me start off by saying that the property manager, Veronica was great and very accommodating. Other than that, this was not the place for us. We have stayed in many rentals on Catalina and are use to older rentals. However, this rental really was not described accurately. 1. No air conditioning in “master.” 2. Many windows are missing slats and won’t even close. 3. Front bathroom- your knees will touch the door when sitting down. There is zero water pressure, like NONE. 4. Back bathroom- toilet are is so small it’s like it was made for kids. 5. Neighbors left side porch light on and it flooded into the kids’ bedroom. The windows and coverings were so thin, there was no keeping ANY sound or light out. 6. Couches in living room were super uncomfortable and not very clean, just from being old and outdated. 7. Can’t take shower in one bathroom if someone is in the other, which is super inconvenient. 8. Nowhere to eat meals. There was only three stools, even though four were pictured. All three stools were wobbly and broken. We had to eat sitting on the couch or floor. 9. Overall this cottage could be super cute, but is in need of some serious updating, especially for the price.

Not an accurate listing of the property

The house is cute and been coming to Avalon for 25 plus years and rented many houses all over. This one was in really bad shape. One shower did not have hot water so we all had to share one shower. The one bathroom we shared if you sit on the toilet you cannot close the door. Also the water pressure was especially bad and i know they island has water rations but it would take me 5 min to rinse the soap off and finally got a cup to do it quicker. Also all the item that were listed for the beach there was no key that opened the guest doors to access them. There was a key on the cork board but it did not open that door labeled outside for that. It was just not a great rental and would not rent again. It was cute but alot of money for those issues.
