Great place

Great spot north of the busy spots, and conveniently close to both Waimea and the northern beaches. The outdoor patio spaces made the stay amazing - fenced and with varying amounts of shade was perfect for kids (and adults!). Host was very responsive.

Private Oasis

This Hale has everything you could possibly need while exploring all the amazing places in this area. Comfortable and spacious with all the amenities to be self sufficient. The outdoor Lanai is a garden paradise with several levels to enjoy shade, eat outside and take in the sunset. We throughly enjoyed our stay here, excellent communication and beautiful location.

Beautiful vacation home

We would highly recommend staying in this beautiful home. The backyard is very secluded and well taken care of. We had a day that was very windy but the backyard is so protected we sat outside and enjoyed the Hawaiian heat without the wind. We would definitely stay here again.

Honeymoon Paradise

We loved staying at Hale Hapuna! Not only was it exactly as advertised, but it was just so peaceful and relaxing knowing we had a beautiful property to come home to after a long day of adventuring the Big Island. My husband and I loved the outdoor space. We read and played cards on the lounge set, ate dinner around the dining room table outside by the BBQ, and stargazed from the rooftop patio (it got very hot up there during the day). We also loved watching the little geckos dart around. We cooked from home to save some money on eating out and were really grateful for the range of appliances, the use of the BBQ, and all the condiments and spices already present at the house. Our grocery shop was minimal because of this. We also appreciated having access to laundry so we could pack less! The bed in the "Volcano" room was very comfortable. The amount of space in this house would be perfect for a family or multiple friends traveling together as there are 2 king beds and a bunk bed in the 3rd bedroom. We were a bit worried about the location being a bit far, but it really wasn't. In fact, it was close to many of the beaches and golf courses we wanted to go to and made our cross island road trips super easy and convenient because the house is so close to the highways (without any of the highway noise). We also really appreciated having access to cooler bags, towels, beach chairs and beach umbrellas for these trips. The cooler bags saved us a lot of trouble because we were able to pack lunches from home rather than eating out. We just used plastic water bottles and froze them for icepacks and they worked perfectly. The beach umbrellas helped us with shade at some popular beaches where the shady spots were already taken. These items were very much appreciated! Hale Hapuna was the perfect spot for some relaxation while also being the perfect jumping off point for adventuring around the island. We loved our stay and have already had friends and family ask us to share the listing so they can stay there as well. The price was right, the communication with Joe was easy and pleasant, and we had a wonderful time. I wish we could have stayed longer. *Joe was super accommodating and allowed us to check in a bit earlier our first day and gave us a later check out on our last day because of our rental car pick up/drop off times. It was much appreciated! Mahalo Joe!

20 Stars!! A Perfect Family Getaway!

My family had an outstanding stay at Hale Hapuna, it was truly perfect! The home had everything we needed for a relaxing and memorable vacation. We especially loved the outdoor living area, which was perfect for unwinding together, and the star gazing deck was an absolute highlight, so peaceful and beautiful at night. We couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay and would absolutely come back again. Highly recommended!

Easy, happy stay

Well equipped, well managed, design forward, snug unit. Fantastic outdoor areas. All exactly as pictured. Six minutes drive to lovely, lovely Spencer Beach. A pretty good distance to grocery and drug stores. Would return in a minute.

Beautiful home near Hapuna Beach

My sister and I had a wonderful stay at Hale Hapuna in Kawaihae. Very nicely appointed home with all the amenities to make it a very comfortable stay. The property manager very thoughtfully put on the AC before we arrived. Gorgeous view from the upper terrace. Look forward to coming back to this property.

Mid Winter Break

The house was clean, comfortable, and quiet. The lanai was spacious and a great place to hang out. The upper deck had amazing sunset and beach views. All amenities were as advertised and made our stay perfect We will definately be back. The managers were easily accessible.

Wonderful outdoor areas

The location is very convenient to beautiful beaches on the northwest side of The Big Island, to Waimea and to other areas in the north. The house has several interesting and beautiful outdoor patios where we had coffee every morning.

It was such a pleasure for our family of four plus an extra college student to stay here. Everything was clean and bright, everyone had individual climate controls in their rooms, and the kitchen was so well-stocked with just about anything a person could need. Delightful bungalow

We loved our stay here for 4 days of beach days and dinners on the grill. Did yoga on the deck every morning- and watched the sun set. Delighted in the outdoor shower. Beach chairs, cooler bag. 1 snorkel mask with 2 fins. Communications were seamless. We loved sharing the family neighborhood found it quiet and comfortable. The outside area is very peaceful and the house is well appointed for cooking. Can’t wait to return!!

Neat Decor

Overall, a nice place to stay. But there were some electrical quirks—nothing major. Neighborhood not very appealing. For older guests, there really needs to be a handrail to go up to the view deck. It isn’t safe for anyone with any mobility issues. We weren’t able to use the deck at all after going up there once, so we saw no lovely sunsets. But very cute living area. Tiny bathroom. AC was a big plus!!
