Our castle farm is in a secluded location with a stunning view of the Hohen Tauern next to Zell am See (2 km away) and Kaprun.

Our newly renovated, spacious facilities in the castle invite you to relax. The traditional atmosphere of our beautiful castle will enchant you. Ideal for small to larger groups and families.
Our own products include milk, eggs, honey, a variety of jams, smoked ham and cheese and can be bought. The panorama terrace and the garden with a mountain fountain offer relaxation.

Relax and enjoy the warmth in our two outside "Sauna Barrels", our infrared-sauna for 4 persons or our classical Finnish sauna for 10 persons (private use upon reservation)
Take a break from the daily routine in our modern wellness-area.
Our relaxation room and terrace are fitted with sunloungers and are directly nearby the outside Sauna facilities. The large picture window offers a great view of the "Hohe Tauern" National Park.
And afterwards? Cool down in the snow? Or enjoy our relaxation room with a book on one of our loungers made out of massive natural wood?
A sunbath on our terrace is tempting during sunny weather. A view of the astonishing mountains of the National Park "Hohe Tauern" is guaranteed by our large picture windows.
And maybe enjoy a refreshing glass of spring water from the mountains?

Enjoy the grilling evenings in our traditional wooden gazebo and in winter in our Grillhouse (finnish Grillkota)...

A great playground with a tree house, a lot of animals to pet (goats, rabbits, cows, our dog Tina, pigs, chicken), horse riding on our horse Simone, a lot of space to play and daily programs in the stable like feeding animals, looking for eggs - this offers action for children. Weekly guided hikes to the Saalhof alp pasture are popular among our guests.

Farm stay: Altogether 80 cattle and calves, 20 of which are milk cows, pigs, our goats Loisi with her fawn, chicken, our rabbits, our horse Simone, cats and our dog Tina play on our farm. Our rabbits Flecki and Punkti look forwarding to being pet and they look forward to fresh dandelions. At least once a week (as desired), we have horse riding for children with professional guides on our well behaved horse Simone. For good riders, you can go riding on our path networks at all times! During the summer, the cows come to the stable around 5:00 PM for milking and feeding; the farmers like it when people help and if they bring hay into the stable (for goats, rabbits, cows and the horse Simone) or feeding the calves... Right on arrival, there is a guide through the farm and stable with a lot of opportunities to get to know people and animals.

Our alpine pasture: Once a week in July and August, we have an excursion to our alpine pasture with about a 1-hour hike to the upper pasture at 1700 m: 100 cattle and 10 horses graze here. A lot of mushrooms and 'Schwammerl' can be found here starting in August and above all, during the Indian Summer in September and October! The farmer Kathrin would be happy to show you a few places! Those who want to dive into the original life of the farmers 200 years ago and want to live in harmony with nature for a little bit will feel comfortable in the atmosphere of the upper alpine pasture next to the kettle and butter churner. Visiting the upper pasture allows for a thrilling trip in time to the past....

Our garden terrace and playground: : The garden area consists of a terrace, mountain fountain, fountain hutch with spring water and gazebo, grill. Our well-kept garden area, the play lawn and the playground with a tree house, bridge, 2 swings, 1 slide, a climbing tree, a basketball basket and a sandbox is completely enclosed. Thus, parents can sunbathe or read a book without any worries... The highlight is our lying climbing tree: in the front with the head of the dragon from the
never-ending Story and in the back a dragon tail! The dragon is great to ride! The beautiful gazebo invites you to have cosy grill nights during nice summer evenings. A BBQ is available.

A wonderful place!

It was amazing to stay in such a historic and unique place. Perfect for our family to have their own space with kitchen, it made it very relaxing for everyone. The sauna was a big hit with the family as well. The host family is absolutely wonderful and very helpful. Being able to get fresh milk from the cows there on the property was very nice as well.

Awesome holiday with friends

We were a group of 17 people who enjoyed a brilliant holiday at this castle. The beds are very comfortable and the kitchen is equipped with all modern appliances. The castle is so nice that we spent one entire day in the garden just enjoying the property and having a barbeque. The hosts are very, very helpful, we were welcomed warmly with a homemade schnapps drink and they also helped us setup the fire for the bbq. The best part of this castle is the availability of fresh milk every morning. We loved it and it reminded us of home back in India. The castle is located about 4 km away from Zell am See, there are bus connections from nearby or take a lovely walk through Masihofen. They also have a local products like Pine and Walnut Schnapps, honey and various jams. There are a ton of activities that can be done around the area. Overall, a lovely place to stay, highly recommended.

Skiferien im wunderschönen Schloss Saalhof

Sehr schöne 5 Tage im wunderschönen Schloss Saalfeld. Sauna, Top Sauberkeit, Flair und alles super schön. Wir waren 17 Personen und hatten alle Apartments im Schloss gebucht, es war eine schöne Zeit. Wir waren zum Skifahren in 10 Minuten entfernten Saalbach da. Das Grillen im Pavillon ist sehr zu empfehlen. Wir freuen uns auf das nächste Mal.

Great holiday with 17 friends

We had a great stay at Schloss Saalhof. We stayed with four families with kids. The kids had a great time. They played on the second floor. Went to the farmer when a calf was born and were allowed to stay with the cow and calf as long as they wanted. The house itself was very clean and comfortable. The hostess was warm and willing to help. The beds are good, nice showers. We would love to come back in 2018 but unfortunatelly they were already booked.

Lovely holiday and good appartements

Clean en comfortabel accommodations with nice welness. We've stayed with a large group (19 people). The only thing whe've missed is a large kitchen on the ground floor for groups. There is a family room, but there is no fridge or water. Saalbach en Zell am See are nearby and skiing-area was super.

The property is gorgeous and very well kept.

The location is amazing. Great mountain views! We met up with two other families and rented an entire floor. All of the rooms were well-decorated and had great amenities. The owners allowed us to take part in some of the animal care. Free fresh milk daily!!! The property is ideal for kids. There is a fenced-in yard with playground equipment, sandbox and riding toys. As a part of the stay, we had a guided hike up to the family's mountain home. We added a BBQ to our stay as we were all arriving in the evening and didn't feel like cooking or finding food. The BBQ was a family event with amazing homecooked food. We also took advantage of being able to purchase freshly baked bread each morning. Awesome! We even bought several jams and liquors made there at the castle. We highly recommend staying here and are already planning another stay!

Summer Mountain Holiday

I had a wonderful time staying here. The owners are wonderful and the location is spectacular. This is a real farm owned by a family that pays a lot of attention to detail. The castle successfully blends old and new. There are great hikes available right from the castle. I will be back this coming summer with my family.

Ein super Jahreswechsel

Wir hatten mit insgesamt 5 Familien das ganze Schloss gebucht und haben über Sylvester eine sehr schöne Woche verbracht. Die Appartements sind sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtet und sehr sauben. Absolut spitze waren die erstklassigen Matratzen und die gemütliche Grillhütte. Sehr nette Vermieter, die uns nahezu jeden Wunsch erfüllt haben. Jeden Tag gab es frische Eier und Milch direkt von den hauseigenen Hühnern oder Kühen. Saalbach oder Zell am See zum Skifahren nur wenige Minuten entfernt... Great castle nearby Kaprun ski region

We loved the place very much. We rented the entire 2nd floor with our family. It was very nice. I loved the feeling you get in the castle. You go back in time but all the modern facilities are there. The Finish bbq was the best ever. We enjoyed Christmas eve in the bbq house. I was very nice and cozy and the meat from the farm was just top quality. Kathrin is lovely and sweet. Her husband is a great bbq man. We absolutely enjoyed ourselves even this year was no snow in the village. We will for sure go back and would recommend this place very warmly!

Perfect for our large group!

We had a group of approximately 18 adults and 1 child. Our experience was about as wonderful as could be hoped for. Maishofen is an oasis in a very touristy area and has managed to keep its local charm and character. The castle is very kid-friendly and the locals there have a very relaxed atmosphere. We had a big BBQ supplied by our hosts on Sunday night and a sublime mountain hike on Monday. All of our needs were met and I can only give the highest recommendations.

Very nice host and great location!

Katherine and her family were so nice, friendly, and welcoming. she was prepared for everything and had an answer for every question of ours(believe me they were so many!). she also had so many brochures and maps for sightseeing .. the location of the castle is great, there are nearby supermarkets and restaurants. Katherine family owns many kinds of animals that you can watch or play with. they have a very tasty water from the well and very good fresh milk that was milked from the cows twice a day! so yummy .. great experience, would do it again!

Great location with most helpful, friendly hosts

We booked the whole castle for a weekend and celebrated a birthday with roughly 30 guests. The location is one of oldest buidlings in the area with traditional rooms equipped with antique furniture. The rooms were clean and recently renovated. The rooms offer fully equipped kitchen and separate bathroom. Breakfast tasted great with several homemade jams und eggs that were collected the same morning. The hosts arranged a great BBQ with homemade sausages, salads, cakes etc. and organized locals musicians, beverages. Obvisoulsy not the first party that was held at the castle. We had a wonderful stay and can highly recommend the castle and its friendly and helpful hosts. Great value for money.

Schloss Saalhof was everything we wanted.

We loved the character of the beautiful old house. My husband and I stayed for a week, together with our three children and their families. Service and advice from Kathrin and her family was extremely good, they were welcoming and hospitable at all times. The sleeping facilities were excellent, with bathroom and kitchens well supplied to allow each family privacy and independence. The Sauna and sunroom facilities we probably did not take full advantage of, mainly because the snow that week was excellent and the whole family went skiing. The Finnish barbeque house was a great hit. My husband and I also enjoyed the sleigh ride. Location was great. We took advantage of the buses to go into Zell am See, and the free ski bus also went past the door. All bus drivers were friendly and helpful and spoke English. We could also walk to the lake and into Zell am See. There were restaurants and a supermarket, chemist and post office in the little town of Maishofen. Everything we needed. Our favourite restaurant was Gasthof zur Post. The food and hospitality there were excellent. Many thanks Kathrin and family

Beautiful setting and marvellous accomodation

Kathrin made us very welcome. We rented the entire second floor for a big birthday celebration for the whole family (they arrived from UK, USA and Czech Republic). The accomodation was wonderful, the scenery is all you would expect and we had the time of our lives.

Wonderful Castle Stay

Our family--our grown son, daughter and son-in-law, grandson, husband and myself--enjoyed three delightful days and nights at your lovely castle farmhouse! The beautiful countryside surrounding your home was so peaceful, and we especially enjoyed the history you provided about this wonderful establishment. I would certainly want to stay with you again any time we might return to your area. Everything about your home and your family made us feel welcome and comfortable! Our rooms were spacious, beds were comfortable, and the kitchen was handy for the meals we chose to have in-sight. We especially enjoyed the fresh baked rolls from the local bakery each morning. Our hosts were extremely helpful, giving us a chance to do laundry, directions around the area, and local history.
