The Mariani B&B is located in a characteristic village
medieval from the name of Castellina in Chianti, one of the main capitals of the Chianti Classico.
The Chianti wine-growing area was delimited in 1932 by a ministerial decree and since then the boundaries have remained unchanged. The decree defined the Chianti Classico wine production area as the "most ancient area of origin". Since then, the current territory of Chianti has therefore been recognized as an area of original production for Chianti Classico wine.

The origins of Castellina in Chianti date back to the 7th century BC C.
Along the main road that follows the ridge and crosses
Castellina, there were once several Etruscan villages,
that connected the great cities of Etruria.
In Castellina many important Etruscan finds came to light, in particular the imposing tomb of Mount Calvary, which measures about 53 meters and is located not far from the town.

Along the s. s 222 which leads to Siena, archaeologists have unearthed a small necropolis containing five tombs, four with crypts and a small rectangular chamber in the shape of a bust. The archaeological finds are exhibited at the Archaeological Museum of the Municipality of Castellina In Chianti, which can be visited today by tourists.


The Mariani B&B is located about 50 meters from the
historic center of the village where there are shops, bars,
pizzerias and restaurants. Originally the Mariani family
it was one of the first families of Castellina in Chianti
to work in the culinary / hotel sector.
It is thanks, in fact, to this passion of theirs that
the hotel / restaurant Mariani has been handed down for generations for over a century. Today, it has been expertly restored offering
so to its customers a comfortable environment. Each room has been carefully furnished in Tuscan style, of which the furniture belonged to the family itself. Each has a different color, a name of a flower that distinguishes them. From the rooms, the veranda and the garden you can enjoy an extraordinary view of the Tuscan countryside, a perfect place
