We had an excellent weekend stay at Hockley Riverside Cottage! This cottage was very clean and cozy and was fully stocked with all the amenities. We would definitely consider staying here again. Thanks Ashley.
This cabin was perfect for the group of us to getaway! We enjoyed every minute of it - the creek with spawning salmon, the fire pit, the deck, etc! It was a great stay and we hope to come back again!
We had a wonderful time at this property and it was perfect gateway experience. Being close to the river was so relaxing and everything about the place was unforgettable memory got us! Highly recommended.
Our family of 4 stayed 3 nights this summer, and we absolutely loved this cottage! It is spotlessly clean and very well appointed. The cottage is cozy: our sons certainly enjoyed the loft and bunkhouse for their sleeping arrangements.
The setting is spectacular: with a babbling brook quite literally in the backyard. We enjoyed the firepit and the big back deck with propane BBQ. Very quiet and private, overall a wonderful and relaxing stay
An absolutely stunning property. We had a cozy fire in the fire-pit while hearing the salmon splashing their way up the river! It was a perfect weekend away.
So well thought out and an excellent place for those looking to be close to nature while having all the comforts of home.
I thoroughly enjoyed my time at this cottage. It was secluded without being too remote. There were stores and restaurants close by and the overall experience was just so pleasant and relaxing it felt like home. The sound of the river lulled me to sleep without fail every night and the fire inside and out created an ambiance second to none. We settled on this instead of travelling to Mexico and I'm so glad we did! I'll most definitely be coming back for weekend fall and winter excursions. Absolutely recommend!!!
We loved using the cottage as a base for a couple of days. It has a high-spec kitchen and a really special outdoor deck looking onto a peaceful stream at the back. The place was wonderfully quiet and peaceful. Only point I would mention to future guests is to save down the entry instructions before arriving as I didn’t have any cellular service in the area. But once you have checked in the wifi service works well. Would love to visit again.
We (two friends) thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this exquisite cabin. Everything was immaculate, and all of the amenities were carefully and thoughtfully chosen to add to the lovely, calm atmosphere. The backyard is a little oasis, with many different seating areas, all looking out to a stream and forest full of wildlife. We saw fish, hawks, eagles, a blue heron, and watched the changing leaves. Beautiful spot!
Beautiful cottage in a nice location. Back yard by the river is very nice and relaxing! Nice chairs, deck, and fire pit. River sounds were so soothing! Cottage is perfect for a couple or a smal group of people. Ashley the host, was wonderful and accommodating. 10-15 minutes from Orangeville. We enjoyed ourselves immensely. Thanks, Ashley!
The peaceful karma of this beautiful spot was thoroughly enjoyable. Cottage is well appointed and very comfortable. Due to our ages we were not able to benefit from the loft, however 5 of us still had comfortable sleeping arrangements.
Ashley was easily available and always prompt and helpful.
We hope to return for another truly memorable rural Thank you
We loved the property! New and clean and perfect for our group of 5 women in their 50's.
A couple suggestions:
1) could have used more toilet paper and extra tea towels and dishcloths
2) would have preferred top sheets for all the beds
3) if you are looking to add to the gorgeous property, a microwave would be lovely. Also, an umbrella or equivalent for shade on the deck as well as a handrail for front steps would be fantastic additions.
Overall, we were very impressed and loved the location and property.
We had a wonderful time at Ashley’s beautiful cabin. Although it was just off the busy airport road, once you are inside and taking in the beautiful Nottawasaga River at the bottom on the garden it was quiet and peaceful. We loved watching sockeye salmon jumping in the river and melting marshmallows over the outdoor fire. Bliss. Ashley went to lots of trouble to ensure a luxurious stay - complimentary shampoo & body wash, fluffy towels and attractive soft furnishings for example. My kids adored staying in the loft bunkie and it was really special to wake up hearing the river if sleeping in the little cabin. We loved it - Thankyou!
This is a good clean property , immaculate when we arrived, and good communications with the owner, we missed out on a couple of questions by text mid stay which I put down to the spotty cell phone reception, however we appreciate that comes with having a beautiful remote cottage in the Hockley Valley North of Toronto. We were under impression there was a TV on site , but found out the property had a projector system that required an I phone or computer to operate for streaming service which as retirees we don't have, that's why I gave a 4/5 for the on line listing category.
Ashley (our host) was amazing. My wife and I booked this cottage with the intention of spending the Christmas weekend away from the city. From the moment we booked, Ashley reached out to us and answered any questions we had prior to the trip. She assured us that the cottage had everything needed for our stay. Bring some groceries if you feel like cooking your own meals, but you can easily find restaurants and general stores nearby.
The cottage is somewhat remote. It's very wooded and the road leading to the cottage is more or less a dirt road. Travel with an empty bladder. You've been warned.
Orangeville and New Tecumseth are within a reasonable drive if you need creature comforts that are normally found in Toronto. We brought some of our own groceries just in case of Christmas closures or weather-related issues.
Mono, Ontario is a beautiful area about an hour+, north of Toronto. The rolling hills and lack of large scale residential/commercial development drew us here. The cottage itself, is modern with a panoramic view of the river at the rear of the place. It was well maintained and ideal for a couples retreat, or a getaway for a small family.
We knew ahead of time, that a snowstorm might be on its way. The guests prior to us decided to leave the cottage earlier. Ashley told us that we could do an early check-in of 10am instead of the customary 3pm. Check-in was a breeze. Unforeseen by us, the strong winds knocked out the power in our area later in the day. The water supply was also gone, and some of the roads were closed in the area. We decided to stay the night and hope that things would be restored by the next day. There was an adequate supply of wood for the fireplace that lasted us through the night. By the middle of the night, our cellular service went offline so we were essentially stranded. The next morning, we went to Orangveville where there was cellular service. Ashley understood our situation, and offered us a refund. We packed up and left for home, as essential services wouldn't be restored until Christmas.
With all that said, I don't see this as a ruined vacation. We managed to do a lot on the day we arrived. We got to experience rural life for a bit and did I mention the cottage was gorgeous? My wife and I plan to come back in the summer, when we don't have to fight with the weather. We took the risk of travelling in a storm, and we lost. Completely out of anyone's control, and no fault of anyone.
