We had a great stay, and will definitely be back. The cottage is in a beautiful location, is large and comfortable with two fireplaces, and it is close to hiking, towns, restaurants, and anything else you could want.
Steve was a great communicator, and the cottage was beautiful. The location on the lake had no one nearby and was great for walking the dog.I will absolutely book this cottage again for a trip with my buddies, but I think also for a trip with my with kids. Thanks again Steve for letting us stay in this beautiful family cottage!
Beautiful, relaxing location with excellent views of the frozen lake and forest. Large and well-equipped lake house. Easy access to the water. Very secluded and private lot, yet only 10 minutes from Huntsville. Photos don’t do it justice.
The perfect getaway! Everything about our stay was great! The cottage was spotless, more than enough space, and each room had it’s own theme with a warm and cozy vibe! We enjoyed skating on the lake, long walks, and just sitting out on the frozen lake enjoying the quiet and sunshine! Our host was very prompt, helpful and very accommodating. Would love to return again!
This was our second time renting this cottage. We had a wonderful stay. Steve was very responsive to our requests. The cottage is a great location for outdoor adventures.
This was an amazing cottage, the facilities were clean and fully stocked. The lake and property were beautiful and it is located close to both Arrowhead provincial park and Algonquin provincial park. Steve was a great host and communicated effectively, the cottage was also very intentionally outfitted. I would recommend it to anyone booking and will be sure to return!
Rustic cottage in a perfect location. 15 minute drive to Huntsville and about 25 minutes to Algonquin Park. Has everything you need including lots of firewood, a well equipped kitchen, and a BBQ. Could use a dishwasher and a TV station or two would be nice for the rainy days. View of the lake is great and it was very quiet. Stairs could be challenging for some people. Steve was quick to respond to questions which was an added bonus. Would recommend this to anyone looking for a real cottage experience close to amenities and the park.
Steve was a wonderful host. The property was absolutely gorgeous. So peaceful and relaxing, the most amazing get away spot. Still close to grocery stores and really nice shops.Great place for a dog and my little pup had a great time. Can’t wait to come back. Thanks again Steve!
Homey and spacious house on a beautiful lake. Short drive from huntsville and arrowhead provincial park. Well stocked kitchen for groups. Gorgeous views from inside and out and peaceful hangouts on the dock, deck or screened in second floor patio.
This was our 3rd stay at this property. Clean and well equipped. 2 paddle boards and a canoe available for guest use. Great location in close proximity to Huntsville/Dwight/Dorset/Algonquin Park. Good dock (we have a 19' bowrider). Boat launch at TallyHo is good and a short 10 min drive away. Boating is great with access to Fairy, Mary & Vernon. Lots of firewood provided. Steve is a great host quick to respond to any questions. No complaints! We will be back again!
Our family had an excelent week at Steve's cottage. Great location on a quiet lane. The cottage was very relaxing with a great dock and swimming. The cottage was well equipped. Steve was very responsive and went above and beyond as a host. Highly recommned the cottage.
We've rented several vacation properties on Peninsula Lake over the years. We love the 4-chain lake and its proximity to Huntsville and Algonquin Park, and were looking to relax on a dock and spend time Seadooing and roasting marshmallows. The Moffat's property did not disappoint! Warm and welcoming, the cottage is truly a cottage (you can almost hear the whispers of past cottagers... or is that the wind in the trees?). Well-appointed and clean, with plenty of sleeping accommodation and touches of whimsy all over the place, the cottage and its grounds were fun to explore. We loved the screened-in porch... such a peaceful spot to spend an evening! All in all, a wonderful week. We'll be back! Thanks to the Moffats for hosting!
Nice cottage on beautiful lake that connects to three other large lakes. Nice dock and property. Huntsville is great town easily Accesable by car or boat
This was our second time staying at this property, and we enjoyed ourselves as much this time as the last. The cabin is warm and inviting and just the perfect location to relax and unwind.
This property is for anyone who wants to really experience what it is like staying in an authentic cottage in rural Ontario. You would not believe that you are a mere minutes away from the town of Huntsville. Perfect place to unplug and separate yourselves from the rat race.
It truly is a blessing that the owners have opened this special place to everyone.
My family loved the property and the way it is kept, it has almost everything you need for a comfortable stay, nice collection of toys and games...my kids loved it. I would say owner has equipped /maintained this property wholeheartedly... overall a great experience!
Steve is an amazing host, he was so prompt with replying to any questions. The cottage was so clean and lots of room. The location was spot on! We would definitely go back.
Our family of 4 had a beautiful stay at Steve's cottage. Steve's directions and communication were clear and timely. The cottage layout is ideal for hanging around, eating in the comfortable dining area and playing boardgames by the wood fireplace, which is what we were looking forward to for our stay. From the main room there are views in 3 directions. I can imagine it is beautiful here in all seasons! Because of the additional bedrooms and second bathroom, I think it would be very comfortable for more than 4 people as well. Our stay was everything we hoped for and I would not hesitate to recommend!
My partner and dog and I really enjoyed our stay in Steve's cottage. Great location on Peninsula Lake, easy access to Arrowhead and Algonquin parks and to Huntsville.
The cottage is equipped with 5 beds (3 queens, 2 singles) and an upstairs living room as well as downstairs rec room (where the two single beds are). Well appointed kitchen and 2 3 piece bathrooms.
Great value for our winter stay!!
Some things that would have been good to know prior to booking (but would not have changed our minds to stay):
1. As a cottage without laundry facilities, you must bring your own linens and towels. It doesn't say this explicitly, but given that towels are not included in the amenities, I luckily figured it out before we left. Again, absolutely makes sense, but I always appreciate more info than less.
2. Again, as a cottage, you must take your waste (garbage and recycling) to the dump before departing fully. The dump run has not been something I've encountered before while renting on this or a similar site, but a recollection from my childhood at a family cottage, and makes a great deal of sense.
3. The manual mentions the request to clean before leaving, and eludes to a full clean (washing floors, etc). Gave me a shock, but after clarification with the host is NOT required. He requested to leave it as it was found int the winter, which is absolutely reasonable, and we gave a quick vacuum and wipe of the surfaces to ensure it's ready for the next visitors.
