This self contained, charming cottage is suitable for 1- 2 people looking for privacy and luxury. From marble counter tops to custom art , flooring and furniture you will feel you are surrounded by the finest of everything. The fully equipped kitchen includes everything you will need for whipping up a gourmet meal while taking in the gorgeous west coast panorama out your large kitchen windows . The bathroom boasts floor to ceiling natural stone tiles from Peru, heated flooring and a large walk in shower. The charming bedroom with queen bed is done up with soft comfortable linens looks out its own double French doors onto a wooded wonderland. Watch deer wander by as you sip your morning coffee in front of the custom cement fireplace with gas insert. There is parking for 2 vehicles. The cottage sits on a lovely natural 5 acre parcel of land with the owners house approximately 100 meters further along the private lane. The owners will respect your full privacy yet are more than happy and available for answering questions The charming village of Brentwood Bay is 5 mins away by car, here you will find all the conveniences you need, grocery stores, liquor stores, coffee shops, drug stores, medical clinic as well as the Brentwood Bay lodge that boasts a world class restaurant, pub, spa and marine shop where you can rent paddle boards, kayaks, eco cruises and scuba diving equipment.. Butchart gardens as well as numerous hiking trails, lakes and beaches are only minutes away. Victoria city is 15 mins, and the sea side town of Sidney is 15 mins. (Sorry-NO WEDDING WEEKENDS)

a month in the woods

I was working temporarily in Victoria and stayed in this lovely cottage. It was a home away from home. Very comfortable and cozy. After long working days it was the perfect place to come back to and unwind. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Perfect getaway

This place was incredible! It’s close enough to Victoria for convenience but far enough to feel like a peaceful escape. Nestled in the woods, it offers the perfect sense of seclusion. I’m definitely coming back!

Oasis in the woods

This cottage is accurately described & shown in the photographs. Kathleen was lovely to communicate with, considerate and responsive. A lot of time & attention has been spent to ensure guests are comfortable and have everything they need. This was very much appreciated. The quality of workmanship, furnishings and decor is above the standard we have experienced in high end hotels/rentals. The location is perfect for exploring the surrounding area; hikes, beaches, farms plus sidney and Victoria should you choose. The joy is returning to the cottage after a day of exploring to the peace & tranquility of the cottage grounds. The energy in the surrounding forest is palpable. If you are thinking of booking don't hesitate. You won't be disappointed.

Lovely Very Clean Secluded Cottage

Great location and private setting. We were there 16 days. All kitchen utensils, many spices, cooking oil, appliances all in good shape. Some technical things: There were only two operated/screened windows on the same wall so no flow-through ventilation was possible. (we bought a fan) Bathroom shower has a low curb that extends into the middle of the room; it's odd and dangerous! Almost seriously injured myself tripping on it the first night. But after once, I didn't do it any more! In spite of the design issues, we will definitely book again.

You can’t beat aces!

From beginning to end this was a remarkable holiday rental. The peaceful woodsy setting and beautiful cottage were enhanced by ease of entry and the host’s caring communication throughout. If one wants town temptations Sidney and Victoria are but a short drive away. Rentals don’t get better than this. Hated to leave but plan to return. A huge thanks to our host from my daughter and me .

Great little weekend getaway!

This little cottage was perfectly isolated from the world, yet close to amenities. The hosts provided great suggestions for local hikes and restaurants. The home was beautifully kept and the kitchen was more than expected for a Vrbo. The countless movie selection and fireplace made the evenings perfect.

A Home away from Home

I think this is the fourth time we have stayed at Kathleen's beautiful French Cottage. It is nestled in a forest of very tall trees surrounded by nature - and yet, it is but a few minute drive into the city and numerous walking trails along the ocean. Divine. Thank you Kathleen!

Exactly as described, better than imagined

This delightful cottage is exactly as pictured, and exactly as described. It's a turnkey vacation guest house in a great area. It's away from crowds and cityscapes, but close enough to easily get to Victoria, wooded parks, pacific coast beaches and small towns with local food and attractions. The cottage is nestled into the trees and feels private and quiet. Kathleen is a fabulous host! 5 minutes to Butchart gardens, 25 to downtown Victoria and about 50 to Sooke, not to mention all the other gems nearby. Highly recommend Divine distillery and Bicycle Pizza! We wish we could have stayed longer.

I Keep Coming Back

I'm so glad I decided to come back once again to spend 5 quiet and relaxing days at Kathleen's gorgeous cottage. You'll want for nothing as the cottage is so well appointed. Beautiful Sanctuary close to the city

This is a beautiful location to stay for a retreat. My Mother and I had our 3rd visit recently and we just love the idyllic forest setting and the gorgeous french cottage and all it has to offer. Kathleen has attended to everything and is a wonderful hostess. It was just what we needed - lots of R&R, yet also great shopping & restaurants in Victoria & Sidney. Thanks Kathleen!

Forest cottage

Space is very comfortable for two people, well equipped kitchen, large bathroom with walk in shower, outdoor spaces for sitting and dining. We went out every day exploring and returned late afternoon to relax, read and ‘check our devices’. Location is about midway between Sidney and Victoria and worked for us.

Wonderful cottage on the woods

This property is right out of a fairytale ( minus the grandma eating wolf). A private oasis far from. The maddening crowds. Everything promised was delivered and the online photos do not do justice to the inspiration and execution of putting this magical spot together.

Very Nice

A very nice cottage in the woods. Everything was clean and comfortable. Great location, far enough from the city to be quiet, but still convenient. We enjoyed eating breakfast outside, listening to the birds, and watching the deer.

Superb Serenity

A slice of heaven! Spotlessly clean & high end comfortable in the middle of the forest. This was super easy to navigate to thanks to wonderful host communication and very private and pristine. I cannot remember the last time I heard so many birds joyfully chirping - it is an instant good mood 🎵. Grateful to find this gem ❤️

Piece of paradise

The cottage is a wonderful place to stay for a quiet and peaceful getaway. Close to literally everything: Sidney, Victoria, hiking, wineries, restaurants. The cottage is very well appointed with everything you will need. Love the kitchen with outdoor bbq complete with a beautiful area for dining al fresco. Kathleen is a wonderful host and her property is truly a gem.

They are both business owners and grew up on Vancouver Island. Kathleen is a painter and you will notice many of her art works decorating the cottage. They both are avid hikers so can tell you all the best trails for hiking.

Why they chose this property

We love living in rural Saanich. We used to live in Victoria city for 20 years but then bought and built our house out here in 2002. Saanich is so beautiful, full of so much to do, hiking, wineries, beaches, lakes yet many interesting shops, pubs and resteraunts. We are still discovering new little eateries or exciting hiking trails! We feel our property is very special and hope others will enjoy its natural beauty as much as we do.
