Older but close

The units are old but comfortable. The room was missing a light bulb, the TV in the bedroom did not work and the phone and the alarm clock were missing. The man who came for the TV was great and he came quickly. The next day he came when we discovered there was no phone or alarm clock. He was friendly and knowledgeable about the area. The design of the unit was super but it is old and the kitchen is poorly equipped. However, the location is great. Beware of the stairs though. The units all involve stairs and in some cases long walks down paths to get there. There is only one lamp and no overhead light in the living room making it dark and the floors are all slate accept for the bedroom so it is cold. on the feet.

Charming suite, nicely furnished, good location

While an uphill walk from the Plaza, these condos are otherwise perfectly situated, near to the centre of town while away from the crowds. Our unit (91) was a one-bedroom adobe-style delight: beautifully furnished, clean and comfortable, and with a very well-equipped kitchen. Negatives? If, like us, you won't have a car, be aware that Santa Fe's bus system is limited, and Uber has driven out regular taxi service. But the Fort Marcy does have a shuttle bus to take you to and from the Plaza, which eliminates the climb back home, and from there everything is within easy walking distance or accessible via the town's free shuttle service around the centre and to important tourist sites like Museum Hill and the Canyon Road art galleries. Our favourite nearby restaurant was the Sena, in a charming courtyard just off the Plaza. All in all, our seven November days at the Fort Marcy were among the best we've experienced anywhere in the world.

Beautiful apartment in Santa Fe style

A lot of space in this apartment : living-room, dining-room, nice bedroom and even 2 bathrooms ! Nice space outside in front of the room. We loved the style "New Mexico". Great facilities (washing machine and dryer in the apartment). Close to downtown : 10 minutes walking. We didn't have time for the pool but we sure want to go back there !

Great Hotel,10 minutes walk to centre of town.

Our trip started out with the air line. A miss print on the ticket of my wife name and how the airline wanted to charge a extra $500 to have it corrected( their mistake). Thanks to Expedia, they got it all straightened after a couple of phone calls to the airline. We arrived late at night and found our room right away. We were very pleasantly surprised to find how large a space we had. Very well decorated, 2 bedroom, 2.5 bathrooms, dinning room, living room, and a fully stocked Kitchen. Off the bedrooms (on the second floor) is a balcony with a table and a couple of chairs, a great place to have a morning cup of coffee and listen to all the birds, we even got to see a deer mosey on by. Santa Fe is a beautiful historical city, lots and lots to see. We made a trip to the Ghost Ranch, a WOW factor all the way there and back. We stopped several time to take picture. Were thinking of flying back in the fall and will definitely stay at Fort Marcy Hotel again. It was a bonus to our trip.

Appreciated the upgrade to 2 bedroom/2 bathroom unit. Everything you needed in kitchen, quite well kept and clean. Master king bed lumpy and please, put in brighter light bulbs! Walk to town and for groceries, etc. Staff excellent.

Practical facility in need of upgrade

This is a very large facility situated relatively near to but on a hill quite high above Santa Fe's Plaza. A shuttle can be arranged for but stops running at 4:30PM. So unless one takes a taxi back from downtown in the evening, the walk is quite the chore. While parking is free, we had to haul our bags up and down several sets of stairs to reach the unit, which might be difficult for older or handicapped patrons. The units themselves are quite spacious and well equipped but the furniture is dated. The television was older and the remote died within the first few minutes. Even after a report and the claim it was fixed, it was not. The bedrooms are up another set of stairs, requiring hauling luggage, but the beds were comfortable and bathrooms well appointed. Overall we would consider this relatively good value accommodation for larger parties but the whole facility could use modernization and more attentive staffing. A later running shuttle would be a welcome addition.

Time for an updating

First we'll start with the positives. Hotel location is excellent, and the staff were great. The room however is beyond dated, The kitchen should have been replaced a decade ago, and the state of utensils in the kitchen was appalling. Bathrooms, likewise are in serious need of updating. For example, the sliding shower door in the master bath has been broken for a few years judging by the marks left on the tub. The living area of the suite was fine, and the fireplace was nice.

Highly Recommend!

On my 3rd trip to Santa Fe, I was looking for something more than your average hotel, something with some character and authenticity, and I found it at Fort Marcy. The staff was gracious and generous, offering to upgrade me to a 2 bedroom unit at no additional charge. The units are individually owned, so the decor can vary. I was thrilled with my unit, with its quirky leather chairs, comfy couches, large kitchen, and 2 bedroom/baths with colourful tiled countertops. The dishes in the kitchen were most adequate, complete with all gadgets, and gigantic wine glasses. My unit was at the top of the hill, across from Fort Marcy Park, and afforded spectacular views and amazing sunsets! My only wish re:my particular unit would be better outdoor furniture. I saw other units with lounge chairs, lovely southwest benches, hanging chiles, planters...mine had 3 industrial style "school gymnasium chairs". But then, I'm a school teacher, so maybe they knew! The only other "negative" I can think of is that the (indoor) pool area needs a little attention, a few chairs would be nice, as there's no seating around the pool at all, and the (small) hot tub's jets were not working at the time. But both of these things are very minor, and should not dissuade you from staying! The hotel is easy walking distance to the plaza, which I recommend, as parking is often difficult to secure in that district. Hill, shmill....get out and get walking, people! It's an amazing city. You should go!

Great location - needs some refurbishing

Located walking distance to center of town - nice quiet location. Our unit had been redecorated and was lovely. Some other units have not been redone and could definitely do with a facelift. Landscaping could be improved at some locations but drought had some effect. Would recommend this hotel.

half price, half the amenities

The amenities that we wanted were not in existence, but we were not told of this ahead of time: the shuttle that would have taken us to the plaza was not operating, there was no wood for the fireplaces, there was no breakfast....The person at the desk could not answer simple questions, like where was the closest store to buy wood or groceries, what taxi service they used, what bus ran by the hotel at what times. We requested an extra hour before check out as we had to return the rental car and get a taxi back and were told that was fine, only to return and be locked out of our rooms, our key cards not working. The rooms were nice, but it obviously seemed like it was "off season' even though that wasn't communicated to us.

"Home sweet home"

I'm so glad I booked Fort Marcy Suites for my pre-Christmas stay in Santa Fe! It was an excellent time and experience. The suite was beautiful, spotlessly clean, artfully decorated, with a most spacious and well-appointed kitchen. Location was excellent; only a few short blocks to walk to the Plaza and major attractions, and very easy to zip out to get groceries and supplies. It's a bit of an uphill walk back from town, but very do-able. The neighbourhood is lovely, and I definitely felt very safe. It was so nice to come "home" after a long chilly day of walking, and put my feet up in front of the fire, snuggle in with a good book, glass of wine, and soft music. I would have appreciated having the firewood supplied, though it was easy to find some at the grocery store. (The hotel sells it for quite a pricey sum.) Staff were lovely, most helpful and friendly. Unfortunately because it was winter season, the hours for the pool / spa tub and lobby (business centre) were only till 7 pmm so it didn't make it too conducive to an evening dip. This is a perfect place to use as a home 'base' during a stay in beautiful Santa Fe. I highly recommend it.

Not a 3 star hotel.

This complex is rather tired and showing its age.Satisfaction will depend on the suite you get and the service you get from the clerks. If the complex were fully rennovated it would be a great spot to stay, but as it is do not pay full price. We rate the complex as it stands today as a two and a half star hotel/condo.
