Very Demure

Fantastic Stay @ Stile DTLA. It was my first time at STILE. (I had stayed at various ACE hotels prior). Wonderful staff made me feel welcome. Answered all my questions. Room was cute and definitely demure. I absolutely loved it. Thank you for the upgrade as well! Icing on the cake. I will be back in December for my bday getaway. I really love the area and the ability to walk around to great shops and restaurants which is tough in LA. I give it 10/10!

The room was absolutely gorgeous and incredible value, so I would absolutely return, but the sort of self-service approach makes the hotel seem like a bit of a ghost town compared to the Ace Hotel glory days. Pool area was usually without towels and could use a bit of love and I couldn’t find a functioning hair dryer even though two were provided by staff. Overall I’m cool with it but if you’re looking for luxurious service and amenities this might not be the best option!

The room had a strong smell of mold, and the beds felt humid. We found a mold stain on one of the pillows. I placed a complaint, and they sent someone to replace the pillows and blankets. When we returned, the smell was less, and we noticed the windows were open. They offered a $90 reimbursement for the inconvenience, but that did not solve the smell. I mentioned this to the concierge, who said there might be a chance to relocate us to a new room, but that never happened. On the day of checkout, my husband checked under the beds and cabinets and found the source of the mold on a wall below the windows. They had installed electrical conduits behind an open cabinet, and mold was visible growing behind them. The wall showed signs of condensation and humidity. Additionally, under the sheets on the mattress cover, we found a couple of dead bugs, though we weren't sure what kind.
