Very old furniture. Murphy bed would not stay up when we tried to stow it. Gouges/holes in the wall above the patio doors. Just really needs a facelift in my opinion. Water park was closed the weekend that we were there. But we were notified about that previous to our stay. We were told to park in underground parking as your parking stall number matches your room number. My 1 ton did not fit in the underground parking and it was unclear where to park outside as there was very limited parking around the 400 block that they put us in…

e arrived earlier than our check-in time, but luckily, the staff was very accommodating. The woman who assisted us i think she was the supervisor she was approachable and handed us over to the receptionist, Natali, who was also kind and welcoming. The building itself is a bit old, and the basement parking is quite small. If you’re planning to visit during the summer peak season and have a large vehicle like a pickup truck, parking in their basement might be a challenge. Our room was a Loft 1 for 4 adults and 2 kids. Despite the building being old, we had a very comfortable stay. The kitchen was a big plus—it was fully equipped with utensils and cookware, making it super convenient. What stood out the most was how much my husband and child enjoyed the amenities such as the waterslide. This is the only hotel we’ve seen in Banff with such a large pool slide—much bigger than others we’ve seen in canmore’s and banff’s. They also have a kids’ play zone, which our little ones absolutely loved. Their service was also impressive. It’s available 24/7—when we called the lobby late at night regarding an issue, they quickly sent maintenance to our room, which amazed us. Overall, it was a wonderful stay, and I’d highly recommend it, especially for families with kids!

Wanted more water sliding

Fireplace was nice, beautiful views, 1.5 bathrooms. Unfortunately we came there for the water slides, and they were out of commission our only full day there. Kids got 2 hours of playtime on check in day

Our room at Douglas Fir needs a full makeover, update. I cant even name all of the things we saw that were either dirty or broken. Even 2 of our keys didnt work. The curtains were water stained. We had 6 people and there were only 4 plates and 5 forks. The Murphy bed has ruined my back for the time being. The phone didnt work, I must say when I asked for a blanket, some more pillows and help with plugged toilets that we only waited at most 3 minutes...that is incredible!!! The burner on the stove didnt work but I fixed that, and finally parts of the bathroom were filthy. But.....the playpark was so fun for my grandsons and the waterslide was great (that was why we booked Douglas Fir) but it was closed on Saturday. (Jan 4th 2025th) It was open today but my grandson fell and broke his ankle today, I am not sure of the details but someone must have been there from the hotel to talk to my son and daughter-in-law. You have a wonderful place and location, please fix up the area I was in, room, 407 and be proud of your facility. Lori Christensen

We like the Pool/slides and outdoor hot tub. Close to wilderness, walks in the woods and great views. It’s quiet and a great alternative to the hustle and bustle downtown.

We were here in February and back for Christmas. Its great to see they are continuing with the renovations and maintenance. 3 stars are only for construction materials laying around outside of the jobsite. This place is a hidden jem for us , we love coming here and will continue to do so!
