Lanzarote is part of the Canary Islands off the northwest coast of Africa. Known as a more laid back version of its larger cousin Tenerife, Lanzarote is the perfect spot for kicking back. With its otherworldly volcanic landscape, the island’s Timanfaya National Park is a popular spot to hike. The Papagayo beaches at the southern tip of the island have a reputation as some of the most beautiful in the Canary Islands but be warned, several are considered clothing optional, so don’t be surprised if you see a naturist or two enjoying the sun.
