What a find! We found Farther Away accidentally. It had been omitted from my earlier searches due to my search criteria including the requirement for A/C. We read the reviews and contacted Caroline who put our mind at rest re the necessity of having this. We used the fans and these were adequate for us.Farther Away is wonderful. Secluded yet within easy reach of local beaches and restaurants but a car is a necessity.The pool was initially a bit on the chilly side, but this improved by the end of our stay. We wondered if it had been topped up prior to our visit. The large deck was fabulous. exceptional at about 600 sqft, and provided a large shady area where you can sit and enjoy Caroline's delicious home made rum punch. We were even wishing for rain in order that we could sit on the deck and watch it fall. The view over Skeetes Bay and beyond, is stunning and can be viewed through the double doors leading out from the lounge and bedrooms. The house is comfortably furnished and spotlessly clean. There are lots of towels for both the beach/pool and for the bathrooms. The showers are excellent! The kitchen is well stocked and we had every utensil and appliance we could have wished for. Wonderful Christmas in the sun

The bungalow was extremely comfortable; a perfect base for our holiday. In a very peaceful part of the island where a rental car gave us easy access to dozens of beaches and attractions. Doug and Wynette are amazing, not only for making us a Christmas lunch but for their kindness and generosity too.Wynette had decorated the bungalow for Christmas, even adding her own home made soaps and they were always available for help and assistance if needed. If we come back to the island this is where we’d stay.

The Pool Villa

Thanks to Lorraine for the use of her lovely villa well equipped and very comfortable with lovely well maintained pool. Apple Hall is a lovely little community, there was a brief power cut on our first day, however Will our neighbor knocked to assure us the problem had been caused by a troop of monkeys interfering with an overhead cable but he had the power company dealing with the matter. Many thanks to local contact Jan for meeting us, she had a bit of a wait because of delays at the airport after landing but this is Barbados. My wife left some clothing in the wardrobe fortunately we were moving to the west coast and Jan arranged for us to return and collect. This was our eight visit to the island in 20 years and i was delighted to return to fabulous Bottom Bay the most spectacular beach on the island. Surprisingly there were a dozen other people there, thats busy for BB Many thanks Lorraine and Jan Pauline and Keith

Lovely home

If you’re looking for a wonderful place to spend a relaxing vacation and to unwind, this is the place for you. From check in to check out, absolutely no issues whatsoever. Amazing hosts. She is a wealth of knowledge and very accommodating. Zena was very thoughtful as she provided a welcome package which included some groceries as well as her very own rum punch. Nice touch. Frangipani is a beautiful home with all the amenities you could ever want during your stay. The three bedrooms were all spotless and comfortable. The pool area and gardens are a lovely quiet place to hang out. We thoroughly enjoyed having our coffee in the morning and refreshments in the evening at poolside. The wall from living space to outside pool area is actually a wall of sliding bifold glass doors which is spectacular. Once you open these doors you are literally bringing the beautiful Barbados outside inside. The area is very safe. We would take a short walk to the end of the street where you can visit a private beach. The views are amazing. We recommend you rent a vehicle to take advantage of the area for both sightseeing as well as grocery stores and restaurants. We will definitely be returning. Put Turtle Cottage on your bucket list !!!

If Turtle Cottage is available for your dates- Don’t Hesitate to Book! If the cottage is not available - Change your dates! Yes, it is that good , the panoramic view of the ocean - different hues of blue, turquoise and purple, stretching away until the far horizon- and the immediacy of the waves crashing into the cliffs below, make this a unique experience, a treat for the senses! Then there’s the terrace, shaded and spacious and overlooking the ocean, where we relaxed, played cards, had breakfast and dined on occasions. Waking up to the sunrise and the view from the bedroom is a truly memorable experience! We had sole use of the pool in the really pretty and well cared for garden, surrounded by varieties of cactus and coconut palms, their fan like branches blowing in the breeze. Then there’s Pat the host, nothing is too much trouble for her, lifts willingly offered on our anniversary and last night to fine dining restaurants of our choice - Champers and Le Shack were our favourites- a visit for dinner to her friend’s restaurant by the ocean was very enjoyable. And lastly… the turtles, 17 of them, friendly and easy to pat, feed and watch ! A truly memorable stay and we are really sad to leave, Thanks Pat and Turtle Cottage for making our stay so immensely enjoyable - really hope we can visit again !

Thanks to Anthea and Nick for a wonderful stay in their lovely cottage.

They made it so easy for us to feel at home and nothing was too much trouble, including airport pickup (recommended). The house is very roomy for two people. A gentle breeze blows through the windows and there is an electric fan above the bed to keep you cool during the warm nights. The pool is perfect for some gentle fitness to complement sunbathing in the garden. Our top 5 highlights of Barbados so far: - Relaxing on Payne’s Beach - Driving around the central and eastern parts of the island (the Sat-Nav really helped!) - Oistins Fish Fry - Welchman’s Gully - Sunbury plantation house Highly recommended.
