About this property

Montpelier Row Cottages, Terrace Cottage

A pair of Victorian cottages, which back onto beautiful Marble Hill House Park on the River Thames between Richmond and Twickenham Riverside. The cottages are located in one of the most prestigious streets in the area, surrounded by stunning early eighteenth century architecture, with two houses boasting blue plaques. There is no through traffic making the street very quiet. Both cottages have comfortable interiors, with an open plan sitting room and dining room. Terrace Cottage has an open plan kitchen and Garden Cottage a separate kitchen. The kitchens are fully fitted with washing machine, dishwasher, fridge freezer, microwave, gas hob and electric oven or duel fuel cooker. The compact bathrooms are located on the ground floor, there is a hand held shower at one end of the bath and an overhead shower at the other end. There are two bedrooms on the upper floor, one with a John Lewis/Silentnight double divan bed and the smaller bedroom with two full length 2' 6" singles.
Terrace Cottage has a secluded roof terrace accessed through double doors in the smaller bedroom and Garden Cottage has a lovely garden accessed from the dining room. Smart TV with Firestick, BT wireless broadband and a selection of books and games.
Please ask about parking before booking, limited number of permits available, otherwise there is pay and display close by.
Please be aware that the staircase in Terrace cottage is fairly steep with shallow treads and is not suitable for small or unsupervised children or anyone with mobility problems, however we can supply a child gate at the top of the stairs.
We accept a well behaved dog, but not other animals including cats.

Great location for a family

Lovely location, easy access to public transport, shops, cafe and there was a park nearby. The home was clean and had everything we needed for our stay. The host was thoughtful and clear with instructions. The only downside was lack of daytime parking, but you can park nearby overnight. Not a big issue at all. Would definitely stay there again.

Perfect in every way

This was a repeat visit to Terrace Cottage and we simply love everything about it, location, environment and the cosiness of the cottage. Our dog always loves trotting into Marble Hill park or down to the Thames and it simply an idyllic venue in every way. The management service is extremely helpful and efficient. Cannot recommend highly enough. We hope to return soon.

Lovely little well equipped comfortable cottage.

We really enjoyed our stay in this lovely little cottage. The location is great - down a quiet little cul de sac backing on to the wooded edge of the park, but minutes from bus and train and easy walking to both Richmond and Twickenham and lovely riverside walks.

Charming Victorian Cottage - exactly as described!

Wonderful stay at this delightful cottage in St Margaret's, a few minutes walk from Richmond. Cosy & comfortable with everything you need for a relaxing stay. Ideal location for exploring this beautiful borough with easy access to central London. A rural feel in a peaceful location with a great selection of local eateries and already looking forward to our next visit.

Fantastic location, charming Victorian cottage on a beautiful street.

For our needs and wants, this property really was in the perfect location. Moments from beatiful river walks and 15 mins walk from Richmond. It is also ideally located for getting into London with the train station 10 minutes up the road. The property itself is well proportioned for a family of four and has a lovely roof garden for the evenings. A wonderful park is 30 seconds walk from the property so the lack of garden is no issue whatsoever. The owner has been extremely welcoming and helpful throughout the whole process and the recommendations for activities / places to eat were all superb. Overall a five star experience which we will certainly look to do again. Highly recommended.

Lovely Cottage

My friend and I recently spent a very enjoyable short break in this delightful property, so much so, I thought I would like to write a review. The cottage was really nice, very comfortable, extremely clean and well equipped, with a pretty roof terrace. The location was just perfect, very quiet, but near to all amenities. We were supplied with complimentary parking permits, which enabled us to park opposite the cottage for the entire stay, so we were able to use public transport to get around to see the sights. Richmond is a lovely place with lots of interesting places to visit, we especially enjoyed Kew Gardens and were particularly lucky with the weather which was bright and sunny. I think this cottage is a little gem and I look forward to making a return visit.

Very good.

We enjoyed our stay in this property and in this neighbourhood. The property was clean and comfortable, and Val's instructions and suggestions were all very helpful (including her recommendations for places to eat.) One caution for children or anyone with mobility issues is that the stairs to the bedrooms are very steep. Shopping for essentials is a short walk away, and more shopping is available in the Twickenham business centre, reachable by bus or walking. Public transportation to Waterloo, Kew and Hampton Court are all convenient. There is also a bus to and from Heathrow, but for those who prefer a car service, follow Val's recommendation for Black and White Cars and Couriers.

Perfect cottage!

This was the perfect cottage for my short stay. Val answered all my questions quickly and offered tips on the best way to get there from the airport. So clean and tidy and comfortable! A park on one side and markets and stores on the other. A short walk to the river, many places to spend the day. Thank you Val for everything I would recommend the lovely cottage to anyone and hope to return myself.

Lovely Holiday Cottage

We stayed in this lovely holiday cottage in August. The cottage is Victorian and very pretty, but the interior is bright and modern and had everything we needed for our stay, plus a small secluded roof terrace. The location is really great, very green and peaceful, but only a ten minute walk to Richmond. We were worried about parking when we booked, but the owner very kindly sorted out parking permits to enable us to park opposite the cottage, so we could leave the car and use public transport for most of our stay. Visiting Central London was easy taking the train to Waterloo in under half an hour, but also locally in and around Richmond there was lots to do and see. We found the guests handbook very useful, full of information on places to visit, plus pubs, restaurants and shops. We have no hesitation in recommending this property.

Great location and cottage

The cottage is small but has everything you need. Well equipped kitchen and comfortable bed. Only disadvantage is that loo is downstairs. All the houses in Montpelier Row are very attractive including the cottage. Location is near perfect - close to river, vast parks, buses and trains. You don't need a car to get round which is just as well because there's nowhere close by to park it during the day. This was a slight problem when we had friends visiting us in the day. We stayed 3 weeks overall and would definitely stay there again. Owner is very friendly and welcoming.

Perfect cottage and location

I was so happy with this pretty cottage on such a beautiful street - I am high maintenance when finding somewhere to stay. The location is perfect - 8-10 minute walk (max) to St. Margaret's station, two minute walk to buses, including one direct to T5. Great coffee shops and restaurants nearby. Close enough to everything you could need or want in the city but once you're 'home' it feels a million miles away from the noise, hustle and bustle of London Town. The Cottage is perfectly formed, the owners have done a meticulous job of decorating it, it is very cosy and the roof terrace is such an added bonus which also lets in lots of light. Woke to bird song every morning - the cottage backs directly on to the Park. The owner was super helpful, friendly and efficient at every stage from booking to deposit refund. Val patiently answered all my questions and gave me really useful information for the trip. I will always want to stay at the cottage whenever I visit London.

LOVELY COTTAGE

We had a very enjoyable stay in this delightful cottage; everything was newly appointed and spotlessly clean. There was a very pretty roof terrace, which was just perfect for early evening drinks! A really lovely location, with lots of interesting places to visit nearby and easy access into Central London.

The perfect holiday cottage

What a gem. The perfect holiday cottage tucked away in a unique area of West London.Quiet yet close to everything. The cottage is charming and so are the owners Val and Freddie. They could not have been more helpful and considerate. We loved it so much that we have already prebooked for a future stay.

Excellent cottage and excellent service from host

Thank dear Val and Freddie for accomodating us so perfectly in your lovely cottage. The appartment including the terrace are so nicly furnished, clean, neat and tidy. - As we have cooked for ourselves during our stay we absolutely appreciated the equipment in the kitchen. We didn't miss anything at all. To make our stay as perfect as possible, we have asked Val quite a number of questions in advance. And during our stay we had a few questions to Freddie. Both of them were outstanding in their communication, absolutely friendly, always willing to help and each advice was fruitful. All in all Val and Freddie made us feel home in that lovely Twickenham Cottage. We'll definitely come back as soon as we are in London again. Thank you for everything, T & M
