About this property

Large seaside family home (new games room) coastal path Elie and St.Monans Fife

A thoughtfully designed, spacious 3 bedroom house with a new games room. Situated along the Fife Coastal path between St.Monans and Elie it has wonderful views of Newark Castle and the coast. Private, peaceful, extremely well equipped and environmentally friendly!

The space

Newark Castleview is a spacious, contemporary and energy efficient home with stunning sea views situated beside the ruins of the 16th century Newark Castle. We receive much feedback from our guests, many of them returning anually, who find themselves more than content with staying close to their 'home from home'; enjoying the walks along the beaches or sitting upstairs gazing at the incredible views. It is peaceful and secluded yet easily accessible.

The house was a labour of love; designed and built by us, using sustainable energy systems, locally sourced materials and labour when possible and furnished to a high and comfortable standard. We aimed to make the most of the idyllic location, to utilise the space and to make it enjoyable for all of our guests, young and old. The ground floor in particular is ideal for those with mobility difficulties; the front door to the house has wide, easy access and two of the bedrooms and bathrooms are on the ground floor, as well as the open plan kitchen and living room.

Guest access

Perfectly positioned with direct access to the very well maintained Fife coastal path which leads to St. Monans (5 mins walk) and Elie (30mins walk) allowing guests to enjoy some of the most beautiful coastline in Fife. It is a 5 minute walk down to the nearest beach. This is an ideal base from which to explore the delightful East Neuk of Fife; Elie, St.Monans, Pittenweem, Anstruther and Crail. There are also numerous championship standard golf courses in the area (Kingsbarns, Lundin Links, St. Andrews) making it a golfer's paradise.

With private, off street parking.

Lovely house in a great location with friends

The house is in a great location. A weekend away with a group of friends. Six of us. Great open plan social space downstairs with seating , big dining room table and kitchen. One of the group had accessibility requirements. Layout meant they could stay in the downstairs part of the house and had the bedroom with step in shower. Went to Bowhouse market on the Saturday, elie for lunch and a lovely walk to st monans. Lovely to watch the light disappearing from the upstairs window and have morning tea on the balcony.

Wonderful property

This was a wonderful property, tucked away on the outskirts of St Monans but within easy walking distance to the town. Very spacious, perfect for our group of 5, toasty warm and well equipped. Great location for exploring all the wee coastal towns and a short drive to St Andrews. Overall a wonderful weekend!

House in St Monans

The property had a problem with the drains - really strong horrible drain smell when entering property which was all through the house - the upstairs bedroom sink was very very slow to drain away and had black disgusting gunge coming up from it - so could not be used which was most annoying for guests - we did contact the owner but being a distance away there was not a lot she could do- we also felt the house could have been cleaner - too many small issues to list - the picture of the property on line showed the garden to be neat and tidy - unfortunately this was not the case - the garden was unkept and very untidy - not what we would have expected from a holiday let property - the upstairs balcony was covered in pigeon poo which was months old which I know is maybe difficult to avoid but again it would not have taken much for the cleaner to have brushed it off ready for the next guests arriving - we did enjoy our break away and the house was lovely (except for the drain problem which did spoil our stay) but just needs a little bit of TLC and attention to detail

Wonderful House

Great location, fabulous house with plenty of private room for all the family. Even though the weather was awful the Games Room was a great bonus which kept the kids occupied. Would love to return in good weather to take advantage of the garden, lovely decking and veranda overlooking the beautiful sea views

Spacious accommodation in lovely location

We stayed at Newark View over New Year with friends. We regularly holiday together in self catering accommodation and Newark View is among one of the most spacious we have stayed in. delightful location and we just loved watching the sunrise from the balcony. We know the area well but still found new things to explore- enjoyed a stroll around St Monan’s with its lovely harbour and church. Elie beach is always a delight and the coffee at the Ship among the best- but Bowhouse bakery great too. Even in depths of winter Newark View a delight. Might have to return in the summer!

Wonderful property!

We had a wonderful time here. The whole house is very warm and comfortable but the games room was an unexpected bonus (we knew it would be there...we just didn't expect to use it...but from now on we will only look for properties with games rooms as it was SO much fun!). The Coastal Path is perfect for short and long walks - but we should have taken our wellies for the short walks into town as it was very muddy after the recent storms.Overall, fantastic!

A really well designed holiday house in a great location

An absolutely super house to stay in; perfect location so close to the coastal path; lots to do and see round about. Very well equipped house (but it would benefit from some maintenance). This did not spoil our holiday however and we would love to return.

Great house

We loved our stay here. The house is extremely spacious and the views are gorgeous. Having 3 bathrooms was ideal and all the bedrooms were between decent-sized to huge. Once we were used to the access lane and parking, it was fine. We loved accessing the coastal path from so close and had some lovely walks in both directions. We don’t really eat out because of dietary restrictions so we appreciated the range of utensils etc. and my elderly mum could access everything she needed on the ground floor. We would highly recommend this house.

Fab property. Spacious, clean with lots of natural light. Ideally situated between Elie & St Monans & very close to the Fife coastal path & beach. Apart from gorgeous Monday the weather wasn't great but we still managed walks without getting soaked. I think the balcony and patio furniture need a bit of TLC, but as it rained a bit we didn't use them. Apart from that... hope you'll let us come back. 😀

Had a lovely time. The warmth on entering was very welcome. Small issue on arrival which was solved efficiently and swiftly. Excellent communication with and from the owner. One tiny thing - grill pan/oven could have been cleaner but house has everything you need for a lovely break.

Family get together

The property was lovely and spacious. Well thought out spaces for eating, relaxing and games. Beds comfy and clean, bathrooms spotless too. House very cosy so no need to use log burner! (Although fire had not been cleaned out) The cooker was a bit of a problem as the symbols had worn off, so difficult to work out how to work it properly, and grill pan was not clean. However we covered it with tin foil and were able to use it. Apart from that we did have a lovely time and would go there again. Magi.

Just perfect.

Newark Castleview is amazing. So spacious and clean, it is equipped everything you will need for your stay. Beds are so comfy, my 88 year old mum said it was the best sleep she has had in years. It is so relaxing and cosy, with fantastic sea views. We did not have time to explore the surrounding area as we booked a short stay to attend a wedding in St Andrews. A return visit is on my to do list, looking forward to the costal walks & pretty seaside villages. If you are planning a trip to this area, I would seriously consider Newark Castleview, you wont regret it.

FIVE STARS!!! The house was perfect for our family, and the location was outstanding.

The games room was perfect for the 7 year old in the family. Not to mention the free roaming chicken that we dubbed "Wild Bill" was a huge hit with all. The location was just perfect, with the beach just below the castle. All 6 of us was extremely comfortable in the house and not once did we feel like we were sitting on top of each other. The house was extremely well stocked with dishes and cookware.

Lovely property in a peaceful location

This is a very comfortable house for 6 situated in lovely location with easy access to the coastal walks and fishing villages of Fife. The upstairs lounge with the wood burner is great for relaxing in of an evening with stunning views from the balcony and the downstairs lounge/kitchen/diner is a great social space. 3 en-suite bedrooms make this a very nice place to stay for 3 couples. We spent eh weekend walking the coastal paths, had a fabulous meal in The Dreel Tavern in Anstruther - highly recommend this place - and a wander to the nearby Ardross Farm shop. Despite Storm Arwen making the power go off and on and blowing a gale we felt safe and comfy here and would recommend the property. Fiona was in touch during the power outage and kindly offered us access to their private store for anything we needed.
