About this property

Stunning Shore Front house in historic Cellardyke

You couldn’t get closer to the sea in Fife without actually being in it!

Sporting an outside terrace right on the sea wall and the living room offering unobstructed views through a wall of glass, Sharps Close 2 is one the most prized properties on the Cellardyke shoreline. With the master bedroom behind a pair of double doors, if he/she so wishes, the guest is able to lie in bed and take in the floor-to-ceiling view right across the Forth to East Lothian.

Sharps Close takes its name from the small alleyway that leads down to the cottage, which used to house workers for the nearby Sharp and Murray oilskin works. The owners have renovated this 19th century cottage to an extremely high standard.

Entrance from the close leads into a hallway and on to an open-plan modern kitchen/diner, with all amenities, including TV, smart speakers etc.. As the owner fancies himself as a bit-of-a-chef, the kitchen is laid out for those who enjoy cooking but is equally suited for munching on a takeaway or rustling up a quick bite. Also on the ground floor is a double bedroom with two windows to the close and a family bathroom, with shower over. A recent extension now houses a further twin bedroom on this floor, accessed through an archway from the kitchen. There is also a utility room in this area.

A modern oak staircase leads to a large bright sitting-room with beautiful unobstructed views to the Forth Estuary and North Sea, including the Isle of May and Bass Rock. Recent works have removed the complete gable-end and replaced it with a wall of glass, extending the sitting-room further out towards the sea, thus creating an additional seating area to take in the view. The window opens to a fabulously private terraced area surrounded by a glass balustrade, where you can sit and enjoy the views onto the beach.
With the waves crashing to the beach just a few feet below, this is an ideal place to relax and enjoy the view of seals, seabirds (including numerous curlew) and occasional dolphins, in all weathers. A host of brightly coloured boats usually adorn the nearby vista also.

Double doors lead to the master suite which, when left open give stunning sea views right from the bed. A stylish en-suite shower room completes this cosy yet airy and bright house. Original oil and watercolour seascapes adorn most of the walls to add the holiday atmosphere. The house is fully double glazed, extremely well insulated and heated with simple to use gas central heating.

Outside, just a few yards away, there is a safe rocky and pebbled beach, ideal for kids to play while being watched from the window. In summer, a dip in the sea is enjoyably refreshing although not for the faint-hearted! Lobsters, cod and many other fish are regularly caught off the 'Rock' outside the window. The beach is also dog-friendly, and is cordoned off at both ends when the tide is in.

If East Neuk is one of life's forgotten corners of the UK, then the lovely fishing villages of Anstruther and Cellardyke are the jewels in its crown. Packed with cosy pubs and a variety of cafes and restaurants and not forgetting its world-famous fish and chip shops. The narrow streets also offer boutiques and galleries for those just wishing to enjoy a few days in a relaxing way. There is a supermarket plus two convenience stores, a great butcher on the harbour plus an artisan baker.

Boat trips run from Anstruther harbour to the Isle of May, St Andrews is just 9 miles away and all along the coast are pretty harbour towns and some beautiful beaches. East Neuk is also blessed with fabulous golf courses to suit all levels and wallets.

Historic Edinburgh is just an hour away for those looking for culture and adventure.

2 Sharps Close was a great location

2 Sharps Close is in a great location and is a comfortable lodging. The owner was very responsive to inquiries. An information sheet was provided that enhanced the checkin and check out process as well offering valuable information about local restaurants and other resources.

Amazing view!

Super accommodation with an amazing view! We could have looked at the waves forever! Parking is on a narrow street. We were not aware of this until contact prior to the stay. The information about what to do within the house was more than thorough.

Cellardyke Break

A lovely property with a stunning balcony and sea views. Excellently decorated and equpped. Not too far to walk into Anstruther for all amenities. Only downside was my car got scraped and no message left. I would park away from the property so this does not happen.

Stunning views from excellent property!

We stayed here for 4 nights over a bank holiday weekend. Our family, including 2 grandchildren, joined us for the last 2 nights. As a couple, we know Cellardyke and Anstruther well, having stayed several times in the area. This property was great for the 6 of us - beautifully renovated, spacious, clean and very comfortable. The views are absolutely stunning, even when misty. It was a stormy weekend for May and the huge waves were rolling in up to the wall below the deck - mesmerising to watch! We have stayed in a smaller property with a glass wall and deck further along the road so know how beautiful the views are when the sun shines too. The children loved rock pooling on the beach in front of the house and the 5 minute walk to the play park and natural sea pools for kayaking meant we didn’t have to go far for entertainment. We always enjoy walking into Anstruther (10 minutes) with all its amenities - cafes, restaurants and, of course, the famous fish and chips! We also recommend The Haven on Cellardyke Harbour for a fresh tasty meal. We will be back and would definitely choose this property again.

Beautiful Seaside Retreat!

We stayed here during the Open and it was a beautiful retreat after a long day with crowds. We had one question during the stay and the owners answered it promptly via email. Would stay here again and are considering it seriously! Thank you to Sharps Close 2!

Sharpsclose 2 - Cellardyke/Anstruther

From booking through to arrival at the property, the owners Andy and Wendy kept us fully informed of all the details we needed regarding our 5 day stay at this wonderful holiday home. The property is very deceptive from the outside and it has been meticulously updated and is spotlessly clean. The rooms are well proportioned and the views from the balcony are outstanding. Everything you would want in a family accommodation was provided, even a pair of binoculars to span the coastline are provided. The owners have done everything they can to make this an enjoyable holiday destination. We will certainly be back and will have no hesitation in recommending this property to our family and friends. Thanks again Andy and Wendy.

East Neuk experience

The balcony upstairs is a huge asset to this property offering superb views to the Isle of May and the Firth of Forth. The upstairs room is spacious and light with many beautiful pictures adorning the walls. It is a very relaxing place to be. There is a pleasant bedroom with an en-suite bathroom off the main room. Downstairs the kitchen is attractive and well equipped. There are also 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. It feels rather busy when everyone is there moving about. This is an excellent location to explore the Fife coastal villages. Everything you could need is in close proximity, superb range of eating experiences. The cottage is literally on the rocky sea shore with easy access to a number of water activities. Many excellent sandy beaches nearby.

Gorgeous setting

This property is in an idyllic setting with stunning views from the upstairs balcony. The sea is just below. It is only a short walk into Anstruther. We had a family break & loved it. One down point was the cleanliness of the property which I would say had not been disinfected as it was dusty & dirty in places. This has been fed back to the owners so hopefully will be rectified

Lovely cottage

We thought this was an excellent rental property. It was clean, spacious and in an excellent location. Efficient check in too with a pre arrival email from the owner. The kids loved the access to the seashore from the gate just outside the front door. It also had a great TV which was nice to sit down to and watch a film after a long day out and about. (Few holiday cottages have this in my view! We would definitely return.
