Good experience

We thought the accommodation was very clean and comfortable. Views were beautiful. It was centrally located which made it easy to go around the island. There was a small water issue the first day where more proactive communication would have helped, but otherwise everything was smooth. One quick tip is to make sure you bring your own toiletries since other than soap and towels, nothing was provided.

Peaceful cottage with great views

We had a lovely stay in Taigh Dolag. The house is at the end of a cul-de-sac, meaning only the occasional sheep or cow is walking past the house. The house is comfortable and nicely furnished, with lovely touches such as soap made on Skye. We enjoyed the welcome pack consisting of shortbread biscuits, jams and coffee. The kitchen is well equipped but a few more plates, mugs and glasses would have been appreciated, to avoid having to wash up by hand or avoid running a half-empty dishwasher. That said this wasn't a big issue; just mentioning here as a suggestion. Beds were comfortable and duvets nice and warm. There's a log burner in the lounge, we didn't use it though because it was warm enough when we stayed. Portree is only a short drive away and has a large supermarket. All in a wonderful stay!

Amazing

Taigh Dolag is a very beautiful house in an incredible setting. The accomodation was well equipped and extremely well maintained. We felt very relaxed here and the views were spectacular. Joan the host was very helpful and there was lots of sightseeing information at the property. We were 2 couples and we would definitely return to Skye and stay at this holiday home.

A beautiful cottage with stunning views

We so enjoyed our stay at this lovely cottage. It was so thoughtfully and beautifully decorated with local Skye art and crafts - not another IKEA cottage! And it was very comfortable and clean. Everything we needed was thought of from cooking meals to providing lots of maps and walking books for walking. It was easy to get to Portree and to explore the Trotternish penninsula and beyond. Highly recommend.

Superb Holiday House

Skye is a beautiful holiday location, we visit frequently. Taigh Dolag is ideal if you're not used to rural living, it's convenient to Portree yet it still gives you a sense of being remote. The location is handy for Uig and Rankins (recommended to us by the owner) is a local independent store that’s very well stocked and worth visiting for supplies. The views from the house and garden are gorgeous - we also had stunning weather, sunshine every day! But we think Skye is wonderful in all weathers - you just have to dress for it! The house itself is equipped to a high standard throughout. Quality furnishings and linens, natural quilts, large towels, good saucepans and sharp kitchen knives (for those who love to cook – we do). It was spotlessly clean, we stayed 6 nights and were most comfortable. When in the house, we spent nearly all of our time in the spacious and airy kitchen diner but I can imagine in the winter months the cosy sitting room would be lovely to come back to. The owners have thoughtfully provided plenty of cleaning materials and the fire lighting materials and logs were beautifully presented (though we didn’t use them). We very much enjoyed the fresh coffee as part of the welcome pack and liked the lemongrass soaps from the Skye Soap Company. I loved the large map of Skye which was framed on the kitchen wall – lovely to look at and useful too as we talked and planned our excursions at the kitchen table over breakfast or dinner. We had a great stay.

Super Stay in Skye

Great house. Great location. Super comfortable and a well equipped kitchen to make anything you desire ! Just Hooked behind the CoOp is a great place for fresh seafood and we hit them up every day! The house is located far enough from town that you feel all alone except for the sheep. Thanks Joan for a great stay !!

Perfect retreat

Taigh Dolag is a beautiful property in a stunning, peaceful location at the top end of a No through road near Eyre. As such , there is no passing traffic so all you hear sitting on the bench staring endlessly at the views to the outer Hebrides is the gentle bleating of sheep, occasional moo of a grazing cow and the call of the Buzzard that frequently sat on the fence at the end of the road. We needed a break from the frenetic pace of busy lives and our family (husband and twenty something yr old Son) totally fell in love with the peace and rest that Taigh Dolag provided. It is extremely well stocked with all the cooking implements a family need to be entirely self catered , the log burner provided a cosy end to a day of hiking and cycling on Skye’s beautiful landscapes, and sitting around a board game in the large , warm kitchen with a wee dram in hand after a bit of dark sky gazing outside was our usual end to a perfect day on Skye. We went with Stardust boat tours out of Portree and saw White tailed eagles, dolphins and seals. We visited The Fairy pools (stunning but go early morning to avoid large crowds) , Jurassic An Corran beach to see the dinosaur footprints, Talisker distillery, Sleat peninsula, Raasay distillery and Sligachan Bridge. We will hope to be back again to visit the rest of what Skye has to offer. Thank you to our host for an exceptional holiday home from home.

Great break away

The property was well situated for us to allow for lots of exploring Skye. It was a short drive from Portree and a useful co op. The property was very comfy - great to come back to after walks , well equipped and warm. It has super views and a well made single road to the door. I couldn't fault it and we would return in a heart beat. Thanks for letting us stay.

Perfect house & location

Joan’s property was amazing!! In such a lovely, peaceful location overlooking Loch snizort, but only 15mins away from Portree. The views were incredible. The property itself was beautiful, so clean and cosy with a log burner and equipped with everything you could possibly need. Joan was a fantastic host, she was very communicative and helpful, and left us some lovely goodies to settle in. We would love to come back again, and would recommend Joan & her lovely house to everyone. Thanks so much for having us!

Fantastic property, great location

Ideal location for visiting most of the tourist sites on the island. Property had fantastic views and felt secluded give. It’s the last property at the end of the quiet road. A lot of attention/detail put into the property with all the mod cons you could need/want of a holiday home whilst making it feel “local”. The map in the kitchen was particularly helpful! Would definitely stay again when back up in the Isle of Skye.
