About this property

Drumsmittal School, Black Isle, Inverness

Our recently renovated property which was the old village school, is completed to a high standard and is wonderfully bright and spacious. With two bedrooms and two bathrooms we are ideally located in a beautiful rural location less than 10 minutes from Inverness City Centre. The best of both worlds! Use us as your base to explore the Highlands. Our situation is perfect for exploring Inverness, The Black Isle, Loch Ness, Culloden, Clava Cairns, as well as further afield. If you are arriving by public transport we can pick you up in Inverness. There is a large private parking area outside the house and it's free of charge.

The house has it's own utility room with a washing machine and an electric clothes drier.

The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need including a microwave and a dish washer. If you prefer to eat out the near by village of North Kessock boasts a pub and a tea-room, both of whom serve great food. Free wi-fi is provided, although with so much to see and do, we hope you will relax and switch your phone off!

Donnie was friendly & informative. He made us feel very welcome. The accommodation was perfect, a lovely location & a beautiful renovation to create a relaxing space. The fridge was filled with fresh food the beds were comfy. There was even a laundry room! A really lovely break on our road trip. Thank you.

Beautiful House & Location

Ellie & Donnie were great hosts & nothing was too much trouble for them. Its a beautiful house fully equipped, clean & has been beautifully done up. The location is stunning with lovely countryside views. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a highland getaway, yet still close to Inverness.

Cosy end to our day

Donnie is a perfect gentleman and Ellie was very approachable and on point whenever we needed her. The house was immaculate and breakfast provided which saved us a late night trip to the shops. The garden is very beautiful and the atmosphere so quite and relaxed. The. Decor is beautiful and the location for us with a car was ideal for wherever we needed to be. Real love and attention is put into making this place a home away from home. Somewhere to chill after exploring the area. Kitchen is well equipped and us ladies were overjoyed to see a slow cooker! There is a lovely local pub and community hall with various activities like a market. Abundant with things to forage near the property for lovers of foraging. Beds are comfortable also plenty wildlife to see if lucky from the lovely big windows. We felt like we had privacy but also felt safe knowing Donnie and Ellie were near by as two women travelling alone. They really know the area and make some ex cellent suggestions. We loved it here and cannot wait to share this property as well as Scotland with our families.

Very nice property and owners very helpful. Left us some bread/milk/ juice etc which was very nice and unexpected. Excellent facilities and clean, modern utilities, mostly new. Enjoyed the wonderful peace and quiet after some noisy hotels. My only minor criticism was that the bed mattress was a little too soft for my liking

Lovely spacious property, well equipped. Some breakfast provisions were a lovely surprise! Although the owners were away, they contacted us part way through to make sure all was ok. Our only “concern” was that we opened the windows and then couldn’t close them again without going outside and using a knife on them. We also found it difficult to find - using the postcode we were told to took us to the wrong place. Once we knew, it was fine.

The photos of the Old School don't do it justice! Lots of light and airy space, overlooking green fields, high standard comfortable accommodation. The owners are so friendly and helpful, and the location is ideal - firmly in the quiet of the countryside, but only a couple of minutes to the main A9 to take you throughout the Highlands, and 10 mins to the amenities of Inverness. We had a wonderful time, thank you.

Loved it!

We had a fantastic week staying in the old Drumsmittal School. The house is lovely, so much bigger and brighter than I was expecting from the online photos. Ellie and Donnie live in the adjoining house and were perfect hosts. They were incredibly friendly and welcoming, nothing was too much hassle for them. It was a pleasure to meet them and be their neighbours for the week. Thank you both. The area is just beautiful, within a short drive of just about any outdoor activity we could wish for. One of our favourite holiday let's, the only regret was not booking to stay a second week.

Great to touch base with friends and the old schoolhouse was ideal. lovely welcoming pack with lots of goodies, bread, milk, orange juice. Hosts really friendly and saw to our requests. Loads of local walks.

Great cottage!

Nice owners, very clean house, a lot of space, comfortable beds, bbq/ picnic area outside and very close to Inverness city center (10 minutes by car). I would highly recommend.

Very pleasing.

This short stay was enjoyable due to the considerate attention given to me as a tired traveler. The location was perfect as I enjoyed looking out to the fields of sheep. Would go back again but would wish to stay longer. Thank you.

Such a nice peaceful place to stay

The hosts were so nice. Always there to help, even gave us a lift into town. Really friendly. Felt like a home. I didn't really wanna leave. I have zero complaints. They were both just great and the place was really nice. Big rooms. Great facilities. Amazing location. So peaceful.

Wonderful place to stay

Hosts were very welcoming and delightful. Accommodations were well appointed. We’ve stayed at many holiday homes and this was by far the best. Hosts greeted us upon arrival and had provided supplies for breakfast to carry us over to the next morning in case we needed it. Would definitely recommend it!

Fantastic vacation home with wonderful hosts!

We spent two nights at Drumsmittal School and very literally blown away. The house was very spacious, so there was enough room for 4 people. The two bathrooms were a luxury and the facilities were above average. Ellie and Donnie were wonderful, lovely and humorous hosts. They were very helpful with lots of tips and even stocked the fridge at our arrival with useful food. By far one of the best accommodations we have booked in the past 10 years. If we will ever return to the Highlands within the next few years, we will definitely stay with Ellie and Donnie again! When you made your guests feel like home, you did an outstanding job! Thank you for the great memories! 🙏❤️
