About this property

Lake Rescue Luxury Home near Okemo and Killington

Luxury Home on Lake Rescue

Our luxury 3,500 SF timberframe home is located directly on Lake Rescue and close to Okemo and Killington ski areas. The views of the lake and mountains are spectacular and the location is wonderful all year round.

Our Bensonwood designed timeberfame house (also known as a post and beam house) is characterized by beautiful Douglas Fir beams, towering cathedral ceilings, and a wide open main floor.

The home has 4 bedrooms and 3.5 baths. Three bedrooms have queen beds, and one large bedroom has built-in twin beds. The house can comfortably sleep 8 depending upon sleeping arrangements. We do limit occupancy to keep the house in excellent condition for future guests.

The house has three levels; main, upper and lower.

Main Level

The main level has a “Great Room” with cathedral ceiling, exposed beams, a fireplace, and large windows overlooking the lake. The kitchen has cherry cabinets, a large granite counter, stainless appliances, and an island which seats five. The dining room has a large cherry table. A half bath is on the main level. The kitchen and Great Room open to a deck with an outdoor grill, picnic table and lovely views of the lake.

Upper Level

The upper level contains the master bedroom (with master bath), a loft, and a large bedroom with built-in beds, private bathroom and a TV. Children usually love the large bedroom and it is the perfect place for them to gather to play games or watch TV

The master bedroom overlooks the lake. The master bath has a walk-in shower and a large soaking tub. All bathrooms have granite counters and travertine tile.

The loft overlooks the Great Room and has wonderful views of the lake, a sofa and TV and is a great place to escape to read.

There is a full size washer and dryer on both the upper and lower levels.

Lower Level

The lower level has two bedrooms with queen beds, a full bathroom with walk-in shower, and a family room with a gas fireplace and which directly faces the lake.

There is a second laundry room with a full size washer and dryer as well as a second refrigerator on the lower level.

Lake Rescue

Lake Rescue is a beautiful small, (usually) quiet and peaceful lake. It is about 1 mile long in the shape of a “figure 8”. Our house is located in the quiet eastern side of the “Round Pond” section at the northern end. Although power boats and water skiing are allowed, kayaks and fishermen predominate.

Wide stairs from the lower lake-side deck provide easy access to the lake where there is a generally sandy bottom. Multiple kayaks (both adult and youth) and a canoe are available to explore Lake Rescue.

Surrounding Area

The nearby village of Ludlow contains many fine restaurants, while nearby Chester is known for its fine antique stores. Weston, only a 15-minute drive away, is home to the famous Vermont Country Store and Weston Playhouse and also the beautiful Weston Priory. Manchester, is well known for its many designer factory outlets and Woodstock, Vermont for picture post-card beauty and typical New England charm.

Okemo has many activities including a beautiful 18-hole Okemo Valley Golf course, mountain biking, outdoor concerts, a “mountain coaster”, zip lines, a climbing wall, and miniature golf.

In the fall, the foliage is spectacular. It is also a great place to enjoy a hike in the surrounding woods or antiquing in neighboring towns.

In winter, the house is ideal for outdoor activities. The house is about four miles from Okemo and 12 miles from Killington’s Northeast chairlift.

Nearby Okemo Valley Cross Country Ski Center has extensive groomed trails and when conditions are right, cross country skiing or ice skating on Lake Rescue is wonderful.

Snowmobilers can utilize the lakes and the nearby access to all the interconnecting trails that Vermont offers (one-fourth mile from Lake Rescue).

Beatutiful location & house
We all (family of 4 and 2 guests) had a fantastic time at the house. Beautiful & quiet. More busy on w/end - but house has great privacy so this was never an issue. Would love to do this again in winter for skiing at Okemo.

Great house, great location
A beautiful house in a great location. The views were breathtaking as soon as you entered the house. My husband and I had a very relaxing time, just enjoying all the house and lake had to offer. Outside there very several choices of places to sit and relax, entry into the lake for swimming and kayaking was very easy. The fishing was outstanding. Internally the house is very comfortable and equipped with everything you would need. The kitchen was superb. This is a wonderful home to rent for small or large groups. We are already planning our return.

Lakeside Joy at the Dream House
This is a beautiful house on a lake that looks like a mirror. The first thing to note is the architecture of the house. It is a gorgeous example of post and beam or timber frame, with beautiful wood exposed throughout the house with beautiful wood floors. It is warm and cozy with plenty of room for a family gathering. The back of the house looks over the serene lake. We were here in late September and had 4 very warm days with cool nights. Everyday, we put the kayaks in the water and paddled along the shore looking at the other lovely houses on the lake. Two of our nights, we made a fire in the outdoor fire pit and enjoyed s'mores under the stars. Ludlow is about 10 minutes away. We liked lunch at The Pot Belly and bought a delicious pie at the Southern Pie Company (very small family run store with multiple types of delicious pies). We highly recommend this home for a quiet escape in a luxury setting.

a DREAM HOME in Vermont
This is an amazing house on a beautiful lake. The hosts are so gracious to share their Dream Home with other families. The best part of any trip is the quality time spent with friends and family and this house offers a warm, safe, and welcoming place to enjoy a good time in summer or winter. I stayed with my wife, my brother, and my niece and nephew for six nights at the end of August 2017. We had a wonderful time. We spent our mornings enjoying the crisp New England air by hiking, biking, and walking in the area. One morning we also took a short drive to nearby Woodstock to explore a covered bridge and another day we spent the morning at the Vermont country store. Both stops offered great places to eat and shop. Afternoons in the summer are the perfect time to enjoy Lake Rescue. We stretched out in the Adirondack chairs to enjoy the sun and when we got too hot we cooled-off with a quick dip in the refreshing water. The kids loved canoeing around the lake. We paddled across to a patch of lily pads where we stopped to see the turtles and frogs. We also took the canoe to explore the lake's island. The kids named it "Pirate Island" and spent a whole afternoon building a fort in the woods. It was awesome! The house had everything we needed to cook family dinners that we enjoyed while watching a beautiful sunset every evening from the patio. This house also has a great fire pit where we were able to get together and tell stories, sing campfire songs, and enjoy our favorite dessert: s'mores! One more thing! The timber frame home combines traditional mortise and tenon techniques with modern building materials to create a house that's as beautiful as it is functional and comfortable. The house itself is a treasure to behold. From the moment we walked in we knew it was something special and we've missed this house from the moment we left. If you have the opportunity to rent his property, you won't be disappointed. It truly is a Dream Home. Enjoy!

great family vacation!
My family had a wonderful week here! My three small children were thrilled with jumping off the dock, swimming in the lake and trying out the youth kayaks each day. The lake is quiet and we found the setting to be super relaxing. The house is beautiful and had everything we needed. We would definitely return for another vacation here.

Excellent rental for fun and relaxing family vacation!
My family had a wonderful vacation in this home. The house is exceptionally beautiful, spacious, clean and well stocked. My three small children (ages 4,6, and 8) were in heaven and had plenty of space to hang out. The lake was quiet and the kids played in the water and with the provided kayaks all day long for the entire week we were there! There are several spots around the house (two decks/patios, fire pit area, dock) for hanging out and we comfortably enjoyed all of these areas. Would definitely return to this home for another vacation and highly recommend to others looking for relaxing and beautiful setting.

Outstanding
This is quite honestly one of the best vacation rental homes we have ever stayed in. Our family of five, with kids ages 14, 11, and 8, absolutely loved it. The house is comfortable, spacious, and has all of the amenities you could ever need. There are many different areas both inside and outside the house to sit and relax. The lake was the highlight of the stay for all of us. There were enough kayaks for our entire family plus a canoe. The lake was manageable and fun to explore. Jumping off the dock and swimming were great. At night, we roasted marshmallows over the fire pit. We sincerely hope to visit again. Our vacation week could not have been better!

Impeccable Lakehouse!!!
This was our third summer staying in this beautiful home. It is located directly on Lake Rescue which provides for wonderful swimming, canoeing and kayaking. It's a gorgeous relaxing area. Yet, it's close enough to delicious restaurants if you can pull yourself away from this beautifully appointed home. The owners keep the home very clean and updated with all the amenities. They are easy to deal with and timely in their responses. We highly recommend this home and look forward to returning next summer.

Lake Rescue Beauty
House and location was amazing. Kitchen and house in general was well stocked. Everything you could want or need is provided. Great to have the three kayaks and the canoe to use. My family and I had a great time. Could not ask for more. I would highly recommend this house if you are considering visiting the Okemo area.

Excellent stay
This place was amazing. Our young children had a great time. The place was super comfortable and very clean, the kitchen very well stocked (compared to many homes we've rented before), and all very modern yet cozy. We appreciated the many kayaks including the kid's kayaks. Even as a family of 6 we were all able to go out together. Owner was also very responsive. We'll definitely be back.

Lake Rescue Retreat
Our whole family loved the Eckle retreat. It is every thing you could want in a VT. stay. We came east from Nevada and our daughter and family joined us from NYC for Easter weekend.. A blessing to spend it at one of the nicest spots in Vermont. While we did do some skiing we all hated to leave the house as it is so cozy and nicely appointed. Just looking out at the lake from the huge windows is so great! Thanks, we will be back.

Spectacular property!
This is a truly beautiful house in one of the best locations on Lake Rescue. The great room was the perfect place for our family to gather after a day of canoeing, kayaking and swimming in the lake, just a few steps away, and we also loved grilling our lunches and dinners on the deck with stunning views of the lake. The condition of the house was perfect - everything is essentially brand new. Our family loved our trip and we'll definitely stay here again our next time back in Vermont.

Awesome 4 season chalet on lake with stunning views
We have visited this amazing spot in August of 2014 and had an awesome time. The house / cottage is extremely comfortable and has everything readily available you would need. The views from many of the rooms is stunning. The lake is great for swimming, paddling and easily accessible. The local area has fantastic biking and hiking trails for all levels, there is shopping nearby as well. An great place to stay in an awesome location.

AMAZING
The house is amazing and you can actually see the ski area from the deck. It took less than five minutes to be parked and getting tickets at the resort. After skiing was awesome with drinks watching the snow fall and we even got some ice skating in down on the like below the house. We will be back as often as possible.

Why they chose this property

It is in the perfect location for swimming, boating, skiing and viewing VT foliage.

This property had a 1940's or 50's cottage on it when we purchased it in 1983. It served as our family retreat as our children grew up and also fell in love with VT, Lake Rescue and Okemo. Our daughter had such fond memories of VT, she decided to get married nearby. As our family grew, in 2008 we decided to completely rebuild the house so it could accommodate them. It continues to be our family retreat and is our dream home.
