About this property

Weavers Cottage, Central Southwold, Pet Friendly & Parking (Sleeps 4, 2 Bedroom)

Bedroom 1 has a double bed, bedroom 2 has two single beds. Both rooms are comfortable, with ample spare duvets/bedding. The boiler is located on the stairs, there is full gas central heating. There is a hair dryer available.
1 downstairs bathroom, with bath, wc and excellent micra shower over bath. Fully fitted kitchen/diner with a washing machine/electric hob/double oven/microwave/toaster/undercounter fridge with icebox. There is seating for four(and some spare chairs), and a stable door which leads to the outside yard. Door from kitchen giving access to upstairs.
Entering via the front door, the lounge has 2 x settees, 1 comfy chair/a bookcase/nest of tables/ games/ 43 ins flat screen tv (Freeview)/dvd player. There is an attractive fireplace, with a mirror above. Leads to the hallway. Great dvd and book collection(in both cottages).
Small hallway area with an area for hanging coats and an under stairs cupboard containing hoover etc. WiFi available not guaranteed in the event of breakdown ( although this has never happened).

FREE WiFi. Loom (no 6) and Weavers (no 5) are both lovely character cottages, pre dating 1840. There is a garage for Loom, and parking availability for Weavers, they are situated in a private road just off Southwold Common. They can be booked individually or as a pair (great for extended family breaks allowing privacy yet close proximity at the same time). Weavers and Loom Cottage are located in central Southwold, off the High Street and Southwold Common.Accessed from The High Street, past the Blythe Hotel (after crossing Mights Bridge), then turning right at John Bennett's Architect's shop straight into Spinners Lane. At the end of Spinners Lane, lies 'Rope Walk' where rope and fishing net twine was made in the mid 19th century. There are 2 semi detached white-washed cottages (can be booked as a pair or on their own) on the right as you enter the Lane, and Loom Cottage is the furthest cottage, Weavers is the cottage closest to you in the photos, both are compact and comfortable, with a real 'home to home' feel. There is an outside area to the front of each property, where it is perfect to sit and watch the world go by, there is a bench at the front of Loom, table and chairs at the front of Weavers. There are many homely additions indoors, including a really good book and an impressive dvd collection featuring up to date releases. We welcome dogs (we can allow 2-please discuss prior to stay), on the proviso they stay downstairs! The property is very old, but it has been sympathetically updated, with comfy furnishings. Spinners Lane has only 7 other properties, and the garage is just 15 metres down the Lane. There is a small back yard, with table and chairs, just outside Loom kitchen. No 5 (Weavers) has a smaller back yard and access across the rear of the Loom. In reality this is usually only applicable to take the bins round to the front. Both back yards are enclosed. The pubs, shops and beach are all within 10 mins walk away, fish & chip shop 2 mins walk! The cottages can be booked individually or as a pair, and throughout the year/short breaks/ weekends etc (although these would be mainly out of season). Weavers Cottage (nearest to you in the picture) is very similar (see pictures) and it's hard to choose between the two! The garage for Loom is clearly marked, and in the lane and there is parking in the lane (subject to availability) for Weavers occupants and additional Loom residents. We always manage to park in the lane! It is always possible to load and unload right outside the cottages, which is very convenient. There is additional free parking on the common, just 2 mins walk away! There is a comfy roll up double mattress we can supply on request for Weavers and Loom has a sofa bed in situ downstairs, so the cottage can sleep 5 adults at a push (discuss first, 4 adults would be more comfortable) . We can also provide a travel cot, safety gate and high chair on request. Staircase in Loom is enclosed, with a handrail, not very steep at all (not like some cottage stairs we have seen which can be scary). Just 10 stairs in Loom, 9 in Weavers. We do welcome children and pooches, we allow 2 (fees apply) but we must know the breed/s. We are very flexible out of season offering stays from 1 night minimum.

A lovely little place in a perfect location for exploring Southwold

A cosy little place perfect for our group of 3 adults. The cottage was clean, comfortable and well equipped. It was the perfect location for us (just a short stroll and you are in the main high street). We loved the cafes, restaurants, shop and the beach. Kerry could not have been more helpful from beginning to end. We would definitely stay here again

Lovely Southwold

A great little hide away in Southwold, ideally situated in the centre of the town. We were very impressed with the cottage easy access to the common ideal for dog walks, the beach was five minutes away, the harbour with its wealth of places to eat fresh fish was a twenty minute walk away, harbour Inn great for food and lots of history of the fishing industry of Southwold. Several pubs in the Town mostly dog friendly with good food. Kerry the property propiertor was super helpful and kept us updated with all relevant info, all in all a great stay hope to return thank you.

Great cottage

We had a short stay at Weaver's cottage, and had a great time. The cottage is such a great location in Southwold, so close to the shops. It is very well equipped, and so nice to have things like tea, coffee, sugar, washing up liquid and much more provided. Great communication from the host, with lots of useful information about the local area and places to eat.

A well placed comfortable cottage

As we opened the door there was a sense of freshness with a charming style. It was comfortable, very clean and well equipped. The rooms are small and the cottage staircase possibly awkward for some people but the space was uncluttered and suited the two of us fine. The location in Southwold was the excellent, close to beach, shops and best of all the common.

Great break in a delightful cottage which is our third time.

Weavers is a cosy cottage with an impressive selection of DVDs for cosy nights in . Facilities for self catering are excellent. Location is brilliant, just down the lane from the Common and 5 minutes to the shops, 2 minutes to Adnams for a bacon breakfast treat! We wouldn't stay anywhere else in Southwold.

A 'special place'.

A well appointed, comfortable 'home from home' containing everything needed to make my first 'cottage holiday' such a pleasant experience. The welcome gift from Kerry and Steve came as a complete surprise and made us feel really 'special'. The information pack was comprehensive, helping us find places to enjoy coffees and excellent evening meals. The proximity to the Common and Beach proved popular with Smudge a Cocker Spaniel who enjoyed the sand and sea! We look forward with anticipation to our next visit.

Clean, cosy and convenient

We spent 5 days at Weavers Cottage and found it a perfect base for our stay in lovely Southwold. Only a few minutes walk from all the attractions of the town, the cottage has the added bonus of access down the lane straight on to the common and into the countryside. It's well-equipped and warm with comfy beds, and although the wifi is a bit ropey, we enjoyed the range of DVDs on offer. Kerry the owner was very friendly and helpful at all stages of the booking. Highly recommended, as it is also great value for money.

Wonderful Stay

This is the first time that I had been to Southwold and also the first time I had been away for Christmas in the UK with my Mum and our two small dogs. The cottage is as described, very cosy and we felt at home straight away. Its location is fantastic with being at the beginning of the High Street and so close to the Common with a lovely stroll through the High Street to the Beach. A nice touch was the Christmas Hamper that we were left with some yummy contents which was so unexpected. A special thanks also for all my questions being answered so promptly by Kerry prior to our stay. We will definitely be returning again, hopefully in the not too distant future!

Delivers on all levels

For many years we have taken a weeks holiday in Scotland - same resort same accommodation. We tend to judge all uk holidays by the high standards we enjoy in Scotland, so I was a little unsure what Southwold would bring. This our first visit to suffolk, town and weavers cottage chosen at random. What a revelation, a lovely restful spot with good shops, restaurants and walks. Weavers cottage is in a perfect spot, and delivered everything promised. This truly is a home from home and Kerry we thank you for giving us the opportunity of taking such a delightful weeks holiday. If the cottage remains available we will make every effort to return again and again.

Magical Week

My husband and I along with our Jack Russell have just returned from a magical week at Weavers. We could not believe our luck with the location of the cottage, a stones throw from the common and the Adnams shop what heaven. The cottage is very well equipped with a fantastic dvd selection. Southwold is a wonderful friendly place and if you are a golfer the course on the common is friendly and fun to play. Kerry was extremely helpful with useful information and very nice and easy to deal with. To crown it all we had fantastic weather. I cannot recommend this lovely cottage and Southwold enough.

Weavers a little gem

Myself, husband, sister in law and brother in law had a great 4 nights in Southwold. The cottage was lovely and cosy and tucked away. We chatted and laughed with the people who rented Loom and they kindly let us put our bikes in the garage. We shall definately book again with Kerry who was very helpful with information. Thankyou from all of us.

Little Gem

Excellent property, very clean with lovely clean fresh bedding and accurately described. Very good contact with the owner who answered every email, no matter how trivial. Very easy to access beach and Main Street, car not needed if you want to stay in Southwold. We didn't eat out and the kitchen provided all the things we needed to cook meals for 4. This is a small house but we were comfortable with 2 teenagers. Very reasonably priced compared to other properties in Southwold.

Lovely cottage

We stayed at Weavers cottage for a weekend after Christmas and we loved it. The cottage is in a great location, is fully equipped and spotlessly clean, making it feel very homely. Our children declared it the best place ever and really didn't want to leave. It was very cosy and we really enjoyed staying there. Thank you!

Weekend break

Perfect location in Southwold, parked the car nearby and never used it again. The cottage is perfect for a weekend getaway, has all the mod cons you'd need, comfortable and very clean. Kerry is diligent with emails and information, would love to stay there again.

Summer 2013

We had a lovely time at Weaver's Cottage in Southwold. The cottage itself is lovely. Big enough yet still cosy and spotlessly clean. Neighbours in Spinners Lane are delightful and very helpful, letting us know the best places to eat, visit and park and even lending us their drive on occasion! Very close to the town centre and beach for shopping, dining and sunbathing (we had glorious weather). You will not be disappointed with your stay at Weaver's Cottage.

everything you need

We had one weeks stay in July at weavers cottage just me & my mother, we wanted somewhere to relax where we felt at home but also on holiday where we could go for nice walks along the beach with the dogs, sit & eat fish & chips & watch world go by at a slow pace & this place was the perfect place, the cottage was very well equipt & nicely decorated you had everything you could possibly need we could not find fault, southwold common was just at the end of the drive which was perfect in the mornings for the dogs to have a good run & again in the evenings I would sit on the bench while the dogs run around and watch the sun go down oh & the weather was perfect the only negative i can say about southwold is the prices of items in the local shops ie bakers one single cake was ?2.80 so if you dont like cake you will be fine.

About the host

Hosted by Kerry Pace

Host profile image
I come from Potters Bar in Hertfordshire-and as children- the only holidays we ever had were in Southwold. My grandmother moved to Walberswick when I reached my teens so gradually I became more and more familiar with the area. My husband came from Croydon ( we settled in Warlingham, Surry nearby) and I certainly would never have guessed we would end up living here permanently-but it happened!
Weavers came up for sale so (after much shuffling of finances) we bought it (enjoying family holidays ourselves) and managed any lettings from afar. When Loom came on the market (although not a practical or sensible purchase at the time) 9 years later we went for it!
In 2015 we realised life is short (and special) so (almost on a whim) we sold up, moved to St George's Square and decided to manage the cottages ourselves full-time. We still love London (so we're always on the road) and all it has to offer but we can now offer a personal service to our guests which would have been impossible otherwise.
Southwold is truly a unique place-the shopkeepers are so friendly-the air is clear (see the stars)-food is really good-our guests are lovely-it is relaxed-what's not to like?
The season is now all year round-January is one of our busiest times-it's amazing! New Year is absolutely rammed to the rafters-and Feb Half Term and October Half Term are the same! We have a flexible approach-we offer one night stays occasionally( out of season and on other occasions too) plus frequently offer 2 nightly stays-this is unusual plus we are competitive price wise too!

Why they chose this property

The location is simply perfect-private-in a private lane-with parking availability too. Located just off Southwold Common with access through the stile at the end of the lane. The golf course and numerous walks (including to Walberswick) on your doorstep-and yet-you're just off the High Street too! Seven minutes walk to the beach-2 minutes to the nearest fish and chip shop-5 minutes to eateries and pubs. Hoorah! We thought we knew Southwold well-but until Weavers came up for sale we didn't even know Spinners Lane existed! It's so 'tucked away'-like a special secret! Also, we couldn't afford a bigger place so it was important that we chose a place that was practical and comfortable-we had to make the most of our budget. Many properties we saw were not practical-stairs were too steep-the price was too high- the front door opened right onto the street-there was no parking-the front room was just too small to fit decent furniture etc. Weavers is not large but the proportions are good (it's not pokey)-it ticked the boxes- luckily-we liked it and so do our customers! It has a real holiday feel-and you can sit out the front watching the world go by without a care in the world!

What makes this property unique

Location, location, location! Parking Availability. Mention your special occasion and we'll provide a treat for your loved one! Southwold Common on your doorstep-shops round the corner!
