Property was immaculate and a great place to get away, especially when the sun shines. Christina was a perfect host, there if needed but let us get on otherwise.
The chalet is lovely, spacious and very well equipped, the beds were comfy and the view from the veranda was scenic. The hot tub was superb, it was checked on a daily basis by our host Christina who was very friendly, welcoming and helpful.
We enjoyed a day in the games room as well as exploring Dorset. The chalet is within easy reach of the coast for a day trip and there are many lovely villages and towns, closer by.
We all had a great holiday and hope to return in the future.
We had a lovely weekend the hot tub is wonderful and the chalet perfect. Thank you Christina for all your hard work to make us so welcome. We will be back !!!
This property is everything you could hope for. It was clean, the beds were comfortable, the area is quiet and you can see lovely sunsets over the farm from the comfort of the hot tub. Only issue is it is in the middle of nowhere with some single lane roads to travel down to go anywhere, but that does not detract from the property, just something to be aware of if not comfortable driving those types of roads. Would definitely recommend.
Beautifully presented, clean property with everything you could want in terms of equipment both in the kitchen & throughout the property, making this a very comfortable and enjoyable getaway. It's location was an ideal central location for exploring both parts of Dorset & Somerset. We even got to meet the farm's calves. Communication with the hosts could not have been easier. Would highly recommend!
Property was very spacious and clean. Three good size doubles all with en-suites. Very friendly host. Had opportunity to meet their cows. Very clean working farm with no smell or noise.
Working farm with fresh eggs on hand amongst other items. Property perfectly situated for day trips to Shaftesbury etc. Will definitely stay there again
Absolutely perfect accommodation. Very clean and had everything you would need. Hot tub was treated every day and everything so clean. Garden was amazing. Thanks for making our holiday so great !!
The chalet was very well presented and had everything that we needed in order to enjoy our stay. The host and her family were very friendly, and the kids enjoyed seeing the calves and meeting other children from the adjacent chalets. We had a lovely time.
Well presented with everything you could ever need for a great stay in the countryside! We had a great time, loads of space for everyone to relax and the outside space with hot tub was ideal for a glass or two of bubbly whilst taking in the views.

Lovely
Absolutely brilliant!
Our whole party really enjoyed staying in the chalet, it has everything that you need.
The owners made our stay even better by allowing us to help feed their cows and milk their calves!
The hot tub was the highlight and was covered by a canopy. We were lucky to have had great weather but if you are not so lucky it would still be usable.
The local pub (the ship inn), serves great food and drink and has a lovely garden, be prepared to walk though as there are no taxis/or buses.

Fantastic accommodation and location
We only had a weekend stay but we would definitely be keen for another trip. The Chalet has everything you need, very well equipped and clean. The main open plan area is great to entertain for anything from a major feast to board games or just sitting back to read a book. The local "Udder farm shop" is just 6mins down the road and has everything from fresh strawberry and cream scones with tea to a huge variety of foods and other local fresh produces (great butchery selection as well) And if you are in a pinch there is a Tesco 10mins away that's open till midnight (apart from Sundays). The hosts are very friendly and accommodating and went out of their way to make our stay very enjoyable. 5 stars! :-)

The perfect break.
Chris and Martin are the perfect host and the lodges are the best we have stayed in. Very clean and they have everything you could ever need, even a washing machine. The farm was fabulous for the kids and they loved seeing he calves being born(even Wayne enjoyed getting stuck in delivering some calves) The kids (and me and my wife) loved seeing the cows being milked and it was great that Martin asked our kids if they would like to feed the calves their milk. The lodges are an ideal base to just stay and relax or if you want to see the sites like monkey world and the tank museum etc they are not to far away. The local pub offers great food and the staff are all very friendly and welcoming.
We will definitely be looking into going back as soon as we can and would recommend these holiday lodges to any one.

very nice but not perfect
The lodge was very nice but I would have liked a zip and link bed for the master bedroom, also the shower cubicles were a bit on the small side.
The owner is very nice and helpful

Would definitely recommend this property.
This rental property was delightful. Set on the top of a hill with wonderful views, it was a clean, well furnished and very comfortable home to stay in. Ten minutes from Shaftesbury and within easy traveling distance to Salisbury, Sherborne, and many National Trust properties. A great opportunity to spend time in one of the most historic and beautiful areas of England. Christine and Martin were very welcoming and helpful. Would not hesitate to rent this property again

About the host
Hosted by Mrs Christina Trim
Melbury chalet at Stour Cross Farm is situated on a working dairy farm. We milk approx 180 black and white Friesian Holstein cows twice daily. During the summer months most of the calves are born of which a third are Friesian. These are hand reared by myself and often get spoilt with affection. They become very friendly and don't mind being groomed or cuddled. This seems to set them up right when they join the herd. The cows are housed in a barn over the winter and turned out to grass in spring until November. Melbury looks out on to some of the fields and guests are delighted when they wake up in the mornings, pull back the curtains and see all the girls grazing. Some guests have never seen cows before let alone stand within 2 ft of them. Don't worry, there is a fence and although they are very inquisitive they are quite harmless. We are happy for any visitors to watch the milking in the afternoons. It is a fascinating process to watch.
Why they chose this property

What makes this property unique
