Comfortable cottage in a great location to explore Northumberland coast
The property was of a good size for 4 people (we were a party of adults: a couple and 2 singles). The third bedroom was quite small and i think it could have been a bit cramped for a couple to share. The place was very clean and well presented with lovely decor throughout. Kitchen looked quite new and was very well equipped. The cottage has a stunning view from the dining room window which looks across the bay. It is within easy walking distance from the harbour and the high street of Amble. This is a very interesting, lively town with a good variety of shops and eating places, including a large Morrisons on the outskirts so all practical needs can be catered for. We had a car so it was easy to use as a base to explore other parts of this lovely county (including Seahouses, Bamburgh, Lindisfarne, Alnwick and Alnmouth). There were a few niggles regarding accessibility for older or less able people as stairs are quite steep and lack a second bannister- and there is a very high lip at the threshold of the front door which did on one occasion cause a trip. The TV could do with updating to a smart TV as there was very little choice of programme to watch apart from the live channels (no catch up or streaming services). There is a DVD player but there was only 1 in the cottage to use (we added 3 to the collection!). Apart from those minor niggles (which account for the 4 stars rather than 5) I would definitely recommend the cottage for anyone looking to stay in the area.
