Comfortable cottage in a great location to explore Northumberland coast

The property was of a good size for 4 people (we were a party of adults: a couple and 2 singles). The third bedroom was quite small and i think it could have been a bit cramped for a couple to share. The place was very clean and well presented with lovely decor throughout. Kitchen looked quite new and was very well equipped. The cottage has a stunning view from the dining room window which looks across the bay. It is within easy walking distance from the harbour and the high street of Amble. This is a very interesting, lively town with a good variety of shops and eating places, including a large Morrisons on the outskirts so all practical needs can be catered for. We had a car so it was easy to use as a base to explore other parts of this lovely county (including Seahouses, Bamburgh, Lindisfarne, Alnwick and Alnmouth). There were a few niggles regarding accessibility for older or less able people as stairs are quite steep and lack a second bannister- and there is a very high lip at the threshold of the front door which did on one occasion cause a trip. The TV could do with updating to a smart TV as there was very little choice of programme to watch apart from the live channels (no catch up or streaming services). There is a DVD player but there was only 1 in the cottage to use (we added 3 to the collection!). Apart from those minor niggles (which account for the 4 stars rather than 5) I would definitely recommend the cottage for anyone looking to stay in the area.

Wonderful property.

No 4 is really roomy, extremely clean , beautifully decorated with a view to die for. Its in a prime location, near to all amenities but is so quiet. The beach in front of the house has lovely white sand and is very safe for children. Amble is really nice and the locals are very friendly. We highly recommend 4 Bay View and wouldnt hesitate to book again.

Great location house

Great location house right on the harbour side in Amble. Lots of places to visit and walk nearby. We had a few problems with the mattress in the back bedroom and heating boiler both of which were fixed straight away by the property owner. Only improvements are we feel the quality of linnen/towels/bedding/quilts could be improved for a better luxury experience for guests. We will definitely be back due to the location of the house. Thank you

Lovely cottage in a beautiful location

We went to Amble for a week over the summer holidays. The cottage is immaculate and nicely presented. It’s located yards from a child friendly beach and the town of Amble is delightful. It’s within easy reach of Alnwick and Bamborough. We all had a great time, despite the very British weather. My own personal criticism is the bedroom I was in, the smaller of the double rooms had the hardest bed I’ve ever stayed in. By the end of the week my back had totally seized up and had to go to the physio when I got home. I would definitely stay again if a mattress topper was put on that bed!

Excellent location good facilities.

Bay View is aptly named - a beautiful view looking out to sea, close to Amble harbour and town. House has good facilities. Amble is an excellent location for exploring and enjoying the nearby long sandy beaches and nature reserves of Druridge bay as well as sightseeing further afield in Northumberland.

A ramble to Amble

This house has everything that you need and the kitchen is well equipped. The kids were delighted with the bar stools and the TV in the kitchen which made breakfast extra special. The location and the views from the front window are lovely, the playpark close by was a bonus and even in Summer 2020 we had no problems finding interesting activities to do.

Bay View, Amble

We spent a great fortnight in this property overlooking the sand and sea of a favourite holiday town. As dogs are not allowed on the beach 1 May - end September we were there for the first 2 weeks of October - which was perfect for us! Arriving at the cottage was a dream - such a high standard of presentation and such a fabulous view from the lounge/dining area window. We arrived late due to poor weather, heavy traffic and atrocious driving conditions, so did not meet our host until the following day, but he was very responsive to a phonecall and also communicated very rapidly to a text message. The high standard of this property makes us very keen to return in the future.

Wonderful stay in Amble

Absolutely fantastic location with views over the harbour. We were a stone's throw from the local market and the bustle of the harbour. Very convenient for walking into town, the boardwalk, a great nearby playground for the little ones and the lonnnng beach just south of Amble. There's also a great view of Warkworth Castle across the bay from the green outside the cottage. The owner (Martin) was very helpful with any queries we had about our stay, and was good at getting back quickly. His cottage was wonderful for our family holiday with all the facilities we needed. The cottage was a great base for exploring up the coast - the castles at Warkworth, Alnwick, Dunstanburgh, Bamburgh as well as the historic towns of Craster (famous for its kippers) and Lindisfarne.

lovely cosy house in perfect location

We spent a cold January week in comfort in 4 Bay View - great heating, didn't even need the gas fire much. Well equipped, we had everything we needed - good towels - oven break-down dealt with extremely well with good communication from Martin from afar. Amble is a great location for visits to all parts of the county, with good shops and places to eat on the doorstep. We were 2 couples and found it very spacious - we would all definitely consider a repeat visit in the future.

Nice place but not without its issues

The house is nice, but needs decorating and a deep clean, for example the carpets were grubby and there was too much black mould in the showers. It’s cosy, reasonably spacious, well equipped, close to shops and restaurants and the beaches are excellent for dog walking. However, we found the beds uncomfortable and lacking support and were glad to head home after our week and be able to catch up on sleep. Amble is a nice village and we found all the locals very friendly. To be fair to the owner (Martin), none of these issues could have been addressed at the time so I didn’t raise anything with him directly and given that the house is up for sale, I guess these issues will be remedied only once the new owner takes over, so only knocking one star of the review.

Fantastic week staying in Shore View, Amble

Shore View was well equipped with lovely furnishings. Lovely outdoor space at rear of property where you could sit and eat and have a drink when the sun was shining. The added bonus is the view from the large front window overlooking the bay. Many good walks in the surrounding areas and for families with children a safe shallow bay for them to paddle or play with their inflatables. Well worth a visit.

Hi My name is Martin, I started coming to Amble about 20 years ago with my two sons, fishing and boating was the main attraction for us. In 2007 I purchased Bay View, which was in need of a major face lift, so I set about the task in hand with a help from some friends. It was completed in 2009 and has been popular ever since. The son are grow up now, but when ever the house is empty we try are best to use it. Amble has changed over the years but the people are still freindly and helpfull
