Dreamy seafront property

The boathouse was absolutely gorgeous, the view to Raasay was sublime. The property was very well equipped beautifully decorated and cozy. The underfloor heating was on low when we arrived however we contacted the owner and they came immediately to sort it out. We also had unbelievable weather for November which made for a fantastic stay on the island

Second visit as excellent as the first

We first visited the Boathouse a year ago and had an equally idyllic time this year. The location is great for access to both the North/South corridor of Skye (towards Portree and the Trotternish north and towards Broadford, the bridge, the ferry and the Sleat Peninsula to the South) but also, unusually, heading West towards Edinbane and Waternish. The house itself is well-appointed, super clean, has a great modern look to it and plenty of space, both in the bedrooms and the shared areas. Cannot complain in any way about any of it!

Beautiful location and property

Beautiful location, lovely property, nicely appointed with fine views across Loch Sligachan and the Sound of Raasay. There was some road noise, but we didn’t find it intrusive.Overall, the property was of a very high state of cleanliness, but it lost one star in that category as we found some crockery and cutlery with food and stains on them when we arrived. Some information on waste recycling on the property notes would be useful. We really enjoyed our stay at The Boathouse.

Fantastic Skye Boathouse

Just returned from an amazing week at the Boathouse - whilst the photos on the listing are amazing, the actual place, views, and house are even better! The location and views were fantastic and a really easy place to relax and unwind very quickly. The house had everything we could want or need - a perfect place to enjoy Skye at its best.

Stylish home and practical location for our stay on Skye

The house is arguably even better looking in real life than it is in the photos. It would be a roomy place for six people (we were four) and has great spaces from which to stare at the loch and mountains, watch the ferry and spot otters, seals and cormorants. There's everything you need to have a great stay - well-equipped kitchen, internet, connected TV, direct access to the water, walking distance to Sconser Lodge Hotel (closed when we visited, but we've been before and can recommend it) and Noost, a small cafe by the ferry port. The location is particularly amazing - you're right by the entry to the Cuillins if you want to walk and are equidistant between Portree and Broadford (the two bigger towns on Skye). You are also an 800m stroll from the ferry port that takes you to Raasay, Skye's more remote, less-populated younger sister. Overall, an amazing stay and one we hope to repeat!

A truly wonderful house in a magical location.

This property absolutely exceeded our expectations. We had the BEST holiday which included my terminally ill father, our young adult children with their significant others and my husband and I. The house gave us ample room to have privacy from each other as well as communal areas where we we happy being one big family sharing our experiences of the beautiful island. The house was clean and tidy, had all the mod cons you could need. Everything was thought of. The WiFi was a little iffy at times but I suspect that's across the board for skye and we didn't care as we were there for the scenery and nature not media. The decking out to sea and the idlyic location on the Loch over looking raasay and the ferry was like a dream at times. The silence at night was supreme and the dark skies...well we saw the milky way right above us on the deck! I found the booking easy and the host very communicative as well as very respectful of our situation (with my father being very ill). Rachel made my fathers last wishes come true by giving him the most wonderful memories of The Boat House and ultimately beautiful Skye to leave with to which I am so very grateful. This house is worth the extra money to some other places based not just on the house but mostly on the location, everything was literally half and hour to 40 min drive away which made it so accessible it is perfect for any family with seperate holiday goals. We often went our different ways but always came back to the house and shared our experiences. If you want a truly magical dreamlike holiday then The Boat House is your go to. It will be ours from now on! Thank you Rachel and Vrbo for accommodating us! Ps. We had not one day of rain all week and was freakishly hot. At times like being abroad somewhere exotic...a day trip to Harris beaches was our highlight!

Idyllic

The boathouse is a perfect location for visiting all areas of Skye or just relaxing taking in the beautiful and ever changing views. The house was as good as the pictures, very clean and modern and was great for accommodating 4 adults and a toddler(we took our own cot and high chair)We would definitely recommend The Boat House !

A lovely week albeit with aching arms and legs!

We had a great week with the weather getting progressively better as the week went on. This is an ideal base to explore the middle of the island and we visited the fairy pools, went up the local mountain and went across to Raasay. The stony beach makes it easy to go kayaking and we even made it across the sound. Only downside was that everywhere to eat locally tends to get booked up very early so its worth planning ahead or eating in. If you eat in there is a great view across the sound.

Modern, clean and spacious

We really enjoyed the boat house. The views were fantastic and accommodation spacious, clean and modern. The weather in Skye wasn’t great, but the boat house provided a comfortable and cosy refuge from the elements. Would recommend - thank you.
