Town: Brookhouse is an old village once inhabited by the Romans. It has an ancient oak tree by a pub also denotes the history of the place as it was believed to be used by monks to hang the fish they were selling. The place has a range of walking and cycling facilities in the valley of the River Lune. As well as some stunning beauty, Brookhouse has a pub, a Chinese takeaway and a convenience store as well as more amenities and essentials in the neighbouring Caton. The city of Lancaster sits just a short drive away and is most certainly worth a visit, it is completely different to the country life in Brookhouse but offers a range of shops and pubs as well as a stunning castle.
