We loved our stay at the lodge. It was very well equipped and the location is beautiful. The hosts were super helpful with their communications.
The lodge itself is a little tired looking but this didn't bother us. It was clean & tidy though.
The location is very calm & peaceful but no amenities within easy walking distance. Again, this didn't bother us as we enjoyed the peace & quiet.
A short break at half term for the grandkids. Very nice accommodation. Heating tolerable for Nov but turning the thermostat up had little affect.
The setting of the lodge is excellent. Nice walks and views. Thankfully the weather remained dry even if it was overcast. Would recommend this lodge and helpful owner.
Lots to see/di in the area. The nearest shops are Keswick which is a drive away so buy before you arrive.
The kids liked the Puzzle museum in Keswick and going out on Derwenter Water in a tour boat.
My daughter is already planning to come back.
A pleasant stay.
A lovely 3 night stay on Bassenthwaite Lake. Lodge was well appointed and as described in the listing. Location is remote but only 10min drive to Keswick and exactly what we wanted. Recommend The Sun Inn in Bassenthwaite for dinner and even managed a quick paddle board on (thankfully not in) an empty Lake, which was bliss.
Will definitely consider staying here again.
The whole process of booking, payment, communications, and the location was simple and straightforward. The lodge was exceptionally clean and was in a great position.
We stayed for 5 nights and toured around the lake district and found the location to be ideal for easy access to Keswick and beyond.
Would definitely recommend to others.
Absolutely gorgeous lodge in a stunning and peaceful location. So handy. Close to all our usual haunts in Keswick but the setting makes you feel like you are wonderfully cut off from the world and I mean that in the best possible way.
The lodge was super well equipped and the WiFi was better than at home! Tackled a few more Wainwrights while we were there. Would not hesitate to return to the site. The only minor blip was that there were workers fixing the electrics for some time when we arrived which made it a bit awkward to settle in, but these things happen. Thank you so much for a stunning stay. It was the fourth time we’ve visited the Lake District and we all agreed it was our favourite place to stay.
Clean, well appointed and comfy chalet in peaceful location in beautiful area. Easy to access and a short stroll down to the lake for a morning swim. Exactly as described on website.
So happy we found this place, it was perfect. We are a family of 6, youngest being 19. The living space was huge with plenty of seating for us all. Bonus having the TV for the evening. Perfect location, close to everything. Lovely early morning doggy walk to the lake. All the home comforts. Comfy beds, bonus 2 bathrooms.
Everything we wanted to see was so close.
Would I come again, absolutely. Thank you
Could not fault anything at all .
Clean , nicely furnished , warm and lovely views out , albeit through heavy rain :)
Would stay again and highly recommend to anyone
The lodge was absolutely perfect for our long weekend. It was super spacious, 2 bathrooms was great and the fact that we had the lake not even a 1 min walk away was lovely. Would definitely stay here again and perfect distance to some amazing nearby hikes (our favourite of the weekend was Haystacks)!
It was absolutely an amazing stay.
My husband and I arrived on Thursday and we spent the night there before our daughter and husband and son and partner arrived for the weekend.
It was perfect, enough space for everyone, and we all felt comfortable.
I will definitely book again later in the spring.
Thank you very much.
We had a very good break. Lodge suites our needs, the lake, fresh air and the mountain view. We cooked Christmas dinner etc. and had some lovely meals. Lodge beds etc. was very comfortable
Stayed on this site many times, lovely and relaxing.
Lodge very comfortable, everything you want.
Decking needs replacing at some point, but enjoyed our stay.
Everything about the lodge lived up to expectations and was accurate from the listings. However, the oven did not work and having read some of the previous reviews this seems to be a common problem. This is very inconvenient as when you book self catering you naturally take food to prepare yourselves. We were only there for a long weekend so we got round this but it would have been a huge problem if we had booked for the week.. Would definitely book again but only if the repair or replacement of the oven was sorted out
The lodge was great, exactly like the pictures and had everything we needed. It was clean, tidy and well equipped. The view was fantastic and the area was really quiet. Some good walks just over the doorstep and acess to the shore if you fancy a dip in the hot weather. Beds were comfortable and really good showers.
Jan and Sam were great at communicating and I'd love to go back again

Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, location
Disliked: Communication
Communication poor but lodge ok
We had an issue with the oven not working, I contacted the host and didn't get a response. We tried everything and couldn't get it working. Considering this is a self catering accommodation with not many places around the immediate area to eat, this was extremely frustrating as we ended up having to throw away the food we brought. A response to the message or a note saying it wasn't working would have been nice. The lodge itself generally was ok and for the most part clean enough. Just very frustrating not being able to get a decent response in time. We sent the message on the second day and we've now been home a day (3 days after sending the message) and still no response.
The lodge was so comfortable and had everything that we needed. It was modern and cosy. Very beautiful view. Comfy bed and a really good shower. Would definitely stay again.
This is the first time we have stayed at this lodge, and it certainly will not be the last. From the start to finish communication was spot on. The lodge was clean, spacious and very well equipped for all your needs. The park was clean and peaceful just what we were after. Can not wait to book our next adventure. Very highly recommended. Thank you 😊. X
