The cottage is ideally located for visiting Neist Point (just 2-3 miles away) one of Skye's best attractions. Other boat trips include a sea trip from Portree to see the varied sea and bird life including the sea eagles, glass-bottomed boat trips and a ferry trip from Uig to the Outer Isles of Lewis, Harris and Uist. Summer Holiday 2020

Lovely cottage in beautiful location. If you’ve never been to Skye then you should! A little more storage space would have been appreciated (both in rooms and in kitchen), but we were two families of 4 wanting our own space. Also still struggled with WiFi, but 8 of us were trying to use it at the same time.

Quiet place!!!

This place is absolutely relaxing, lovely view, fantastic equipment. 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms was a nice comfort for everyone as we were two families with kids. Nice place for walks and fishing! Wish we could stay longer.

The property is located in a quiet spot which is what we were looking for ideal for our party

This is ideally located for a quite holiday we had a disabled lady in the party of eight who was able to move about the ground floor with ease in her wheelchair The views were stunning and the wildlife (cows and sheep) were bemusing. One of our party managed to photograph a nice deer near the pier, The only thing that could be added is an outside table and chairs, overall we all really enjoyed our stay

It was a family holiday and we all enjoyed the delights of walking and photographing Skye

Pooltiel View offered very comfortable and spacious accommodation and all eight of us were very pleased. It was clean and very well laid out. The views were spectacular and the location was peaceful and all we were looking for. The fact that there was little wifi was actually a benefit and added to the peace. We aged from 6 to 67 and all ages enjoyed the holiday immensely.

Immaculate holiday home in idyllic location

This holiday home is more than spacious and fully equipped with the most comfortable beds ever and endless hot water ! Our family of 5 had all the room we needed in the 4 bedrooms and I'm sure larger groups would be as happy. The views are spectacular (I saw a golden eagle from the back bedroom window !) Be warned the location is remote but the (hour long ??) drive from the bridge or ferry is totally worth it - we would return to this part of Skye without hesitation. Visits to Neist point and Dunvegan castle and Coral beach are easy drives. The Glendale village shop is the best tiny shop ever . Totally recommend this holiday home.

Fantastic property, great holiday.

A beautiful property, exceptionally well maintained within a wonderful setting. We have stayed in various properties over the years but must say that this was the best equipped by far. The location is stunning, overlooking the loch with waterfalls in the distance. The sheep entertained us every morning with their ritualistic procession along the road in front of the property. We were a family of four adults and the accommodation more than met our needs. A large cottage or croft, with a beautiful kitchen which as I mentioned was well equipped with all modern conveniences. A lovely living room with a log fire which only took minutes to light, which was a welcome sight after being out walking all day. Not that lightning the fire was essential as the house was centrally heated and well insulated. The beds were very comfortable and I haven't slept so well for a long time. The property provided the ideal base for us to explore the island. We visited out of season and therefore many of the local attractions were closed, but that didn't stop us as were out exploring every day and know that we had much more of the island to see. A good excuse for a return trip, something we definitely hope to do in the future. Cannot recommend highly enough!

Wonderful house in a great location

We stayed at Pooltiel View 8th to 22nd October 2016. Directions to house were simple and it was easy to find. First impressions were good, but the house is fabulous and the views are great, especially the sheep and cows outside the front door. The house is lovely and comfortable and the photos don't do it justice. It is very well equipped and can easily accommodate 8 people but still has loads of space. The location is good and it's a nice walk either to the village of Glendale or to the lighthouse at Neist Point. Visited Dunvegan Castle, Talisker Distillery and Portree and would recommend them all. Skye is absolutely stunning and we were really lucky with the weather, only had rain 2 days out of the 14. The addition of the internet will be a big plus, I personally didn't miss it, but hubby and daughter did. We would definitely return to this house and hopefully it will be sooner rather than later.

Great views, nice house, but could be "wow"

The house is large and in a great location. It was clean and well equipped. There were a few maintenance issues, e.g. Light bulbs not working, loose toilet seats, some toilet seats missing their lids, door locks stiff and needing to be oiled. Also the sofas have seen better days. These are relatively minor issues but should really be attended to. For the price it would be good to have broadband, although the reception at Glendale hall was fine - but you do have to sit in the car park as the hall is locked when not in use.

Beautifully located cottage

This is a brilliantly well kept holiday cottage overlooking the Loch Pooltiel that we had the pleasure of staying in. The surrounding area is wonderful and particularly when it starts to snow. The main lounge is lovely with the log burner and has a large window (although not in the pictures) to gaze out of towards the Loch. We visited Neist point light house which was only a 10 minute drive and also ventured through the Cuillin Valley. With such friendly service, we highly recommend this cottage and hope to be back soon!

A wonderful house in a beautiful nature.

We were two chlidren and six adults, and pleanty of place in the big house with four bedrooms with bathrooms. The house was furnish very suitably. The carekeeper was very kind and helpful. Even if it was raining a little every day and not much sun, the sky was fantastic in its coulor in the evenings. We mostly did long walkingtours. Dunvegan Castle and and a sailningtour, to look at seal, was a great experience. I would surely recommed friends to rent the house, if need a big house.

Great stay!

What a great place to stay on Skye. The views are stunning across Loch Pooltiel with some lovely walks and amazing sunsets. We loved the rural location, with sheep and cattle on your doorstep. The house itself is light and airy, homely and well equipped. The bedrooms and bathrooms were very clean, the kitchen worktop was a bit sticky, but a quick wipe with cleaning products supplied soon had it sorted. There were 6 of us but there is plenty of crockery or cutlery, so no need to keep the dishwasher running all the time. Such a bonus with each room having it's own bathroom. My only grips would be, only one hair dryer in the house and one mirror (although there is one in each bathroom). We couldn't find the rota for recycling/rubbish collection and a two weekly bin collection is not enough if the place is fully occupied. I would also like to add I emailed the owner with some questions before we went but never got a reply, disappointing. I ended up contacting the lady who looks after the place locally before we travelled who was very helpful and also told me about the free wi-fi at the village hall. I cannot recommend this place highly enough if you are planning a gathering with family (as we did) or with friends.

Lovely house - shame about the housekeeping

Pooltiel view is a lovely house. Very spacious and ideal for a large family or groups of friends. Everything is there that you would need and expect for a house of this standard. It is about 45 mins from Portree. However, I was disappointed with the standard of cleanliness of the house, which I contacted the owner about on arrival. Although my concerns were acknowledged there was no attempt to rectify instead saying they have never had complaints before. The oven, in particular the shelves, was dirty and had not been cleaned and has food remains left in it, the windows and glass doors in the lounge have fingerprints all over them, which was very noticeable when looking at the fabulous views, the stove had not been cleaned with ash spread inside and out. The tv unit and shelves had not been dusted for sometime, the bedspreads in the double bedrooms have not been ironed and in the downstairs twin room, (as a cat owner) it smells like a cat had sprayed. Oh and you have to strip the beds when you leave. If the owners can sort the housekeeping I would thoroughly recommend this house.

My Best Holiday in years

House was well kept , very clean with every thing you could want I would recommend the property to my family and friends. The view is fabulous with many great places to eat , I would particularly recommend The three chimneys for that special treat and Red Roof for the best local food

Beautiful house in a fabulous setting

This is a lovely, large, very well-equipped house. The standards of cleanliness and comfort are excellent and the bedrooms are very well appointed. The kitchen is big and has everything you need. Our group consisted of 8 people and the accommodation pleased everyone. It's a truly beautiful area with lots of great walking, the village shop is fantastic and lovely places to eat within easy distances. I would HIGHLY recommend the cottage and we look forward to go there again!

Absolutley Fantastic!

Fantastic experience from point of booking all the way through to leaving. Peter and Wendy have a stunning property and the views are out of this world. Very easy to book, make payment etc and the directions/instructions were very helpful. We have been holidaying in this area for many years and this is by far our favourite property. The bedroom configuration is ideal for an extended family as all rooms have ensuites. The kitchen is very modern and has a good dining space and the lounge is great with a log burner which we couldnt resist using even though it was summertime! Really looking forward to returning soon hopefully.

Amazing house and stunning location

We had a wonderful stay in Pooltiel View. The layout of the house worked really well for our family plus grandparents and it was so comfortable and well equipped that I didn't want to leave. The views from the house were stunning and we found loads to do in the area - walk to Milovaig Pier, Dunvegan Castle, Glendale craft fayre, Red Roof Cafe, Neist Point Lighthouse.

Just perfect!

Everything about the cottage was just perfect: - first of all: lovely location overlooking Loch Pooltiel!! - the property was exceptionally clean and well maintained - well equipped kitchen - so it was no problem to cook the pollack fish I caught at Milovaig Pier (within walking distance) :) -comfy beds - luxury bath rooms If we'd go back to Skye I'd definitely consider staying here again!

STUNNING COTTAGE

Where do we start? Cottage ? stunning, location ? beautiful, ? Isle of Skye ? fantastic! The owners have spared no expense to provide everything you could possibly need to make sure you have a brilliant, comfortable holiday (even down to a travel cot, highchair and boxed games for the children). We really recommend visiting Dunvegan Castle, Portree and Coral Beach, and for shopping visit the general store in Glendale which is like a tardis and stocks everything you could possibly need! Across the road from the general store in Glendale is the Vintage Tea Room ? make sure you visit for a warm welcome and the homemade cakes are out of this world. We all loved our holiday and our only regret was not booking the cottage for longer ? never mind 5 star, we reckon it?s a 6 star! Many thanks and we hope to be back again.

About the host

Host profile image
Having holidayed on Skye and the West coast of Scotland over the years, we decided to build a home on Skye, for ourselves and others to enjoy.

Why they chose this property

The plot enjoys magnificent sea and rural views. It is quietly located, set in natural croft land with magnificent views of Loch Pooltiel, Dunvegan Head and on a clear day the Outer Hebridean Islands. The cottage was designed by a local architect and has been finished to a high standard.
The cottage is ideally located to visit Neist Point, one of Skye's popular attractions.

What makes this property unique

The cottage has been finished to a high standard boasting three en suite bathrooms and the main bathroom is adjacent to the fourth bedroom.
The lounge has floor to ceiling windows to take full advantage of the fantastic views. In the colder evenings it is very pleasant to sit in front of the wood burner whilst watching the ever changing vistas.
With no light pollution, at night, there are amazing starry skies.
It is possible to see the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights).
Highland cattle and sheep graze here in front of the cottage and there is plenty of wildlife to be seen.
