Beautiful Perigourdine style house. Sleeps 12. Private pool. 2 acre garden.

House in Villetoureix, Riberac, Aquitane, France - Situated on the edge of the village of Villetoureix surrounded by countryside. Wonderfully private.

Le Paillere (The Hayfield) is a great family house with a child friendly garden. It sleeps 12 (max 10 adults), in a beautiful 'Perigourdine' style chalet house which sits in the middle of a secluded south-facing 2 acre garden with private, fenced swimming pool.

There are 5 bedrooms in total. The 2 king-size bedrooms on the ground floor both have French doors that lead onto the patio and garden. The 3 large bedrooms on the first floor all have ceiling fans and are all en-suite: one is a king-size double with dressing area; one a twin with wooden cot; and the third has 2 single beds and a bunk bed. All 5 bedrooms have plenty of wardrobe and cupboard space, with clothes hangers provided. All the beds are comfortable, with top quality mattresses, and duvets & pillows made from hypoallergenic hollow fibre, suitable for people with allergies or asthma.

The large fully accessible ground floor bathroom has a corner bath, walk-in shower and WC, and is ideal for those that are less mobile.

There is a well equipped kitchen plus utility room, which contains everything you need to cater for a large group. This includes a range with 2 ovens, grill, and 7 hobs, plus a dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, 2 fridges and a freezer compartment.

The open plan dining area has a large oak table that seats 10, and a lounge with log burning stove (for winter guests). Two sets of French doors give access to the terrace and gardens. There is also a separate study room for individual quiet time. Wi-Fi is available throughout the house.

The large terrace/patio has a dining table which comfortably seats 12, along with rattan settees for relaxing. A charcoal BBQ is also available for use.

The location is wonderfully private and quiet, and yet just a few minutes to the Boulangerie. The property is situated on a hill in the small village of Villetoureix about 5 minutes from the market town of Riberac with a large Leclerc supermarket and all the usual shopping facilities. Brilliant market on Fridays with lots of fresh, locally grown fruit and veg.

A 5* holiday!

I would highly recommend a stay at this beautiful house! We were a party of nine and the house was more than well equipped to host us all. Everything you could need had been thought of. We found so much to do, including visits to the local markets, the river beach and the lake. Travelling a little further afield was easy too and we really enjoyed canoeing. We loved the pool and the gardens. The house is so peaceful and a pleasure to relax in Thank you for such a wonderful stay and we hope to return in the future. *****

Everything is there to enjoy your holiday in this ultra equipped and very practical spacious house in a fantastic location! Communication with the owners went very smoothly! Fantastic French Fortnight

Such a lovely holiday in a well equipped & homely property in a great location. Lucky to have overall amazing warm weather enjoyed by the pool but with a house easy to keep cool upon an evening. Great restaurants and markets nearby with a helpful owner and informative local housekeeper. To be honest… faultless! Enjoyed by three generations and a dog throughout. Thank you!

Home comforts in the Dordogne

Lovely property. Obviously used by the owners as it has all the extras you'd expect if you owned the house yourself. Eg teapot and coffee maker, herbs and spices. The day we arrived it was one of the hottest days, around 37c, but the house was cool. The fans were a great help on that first night. After that the weather collapsed but that's the story of 2022. The pool was used daily and loved by all, The large garden helped provide a peaceful ambience. Great holiday.

Beautiful house with everything you could need

Definitely 5 stars! We had a wonderful time at Le Paillere and would recommend it to anyone visiting the area. It's a beautiful house and so spacious that a large group of us fit easily. Most importantly though it is so well kitted out for guests, especially families, it had everything we needed and more to sleep children and toddlers, and cook family meals in the large kitchen. Sandy was a pleasure to correspond with about the booking and was incredibly accommodating. Thanks Sandy!

Perfect haven

This is a beautiful house and the owners have created a perfect holiday haven. They have obviously put a lot of thought into furnishing and equipping the property, we couldn’t think of anything that could have improved our stay. The garden and pool complete this piece of Heaven on Earth.

Superb property

This property is excellent for all age groups, our party ranged in age from 6 years old to 74 years old. The house is superb, beautifully presented and comprehensively equipped. We have rented several properties in France previously and this house is easily the best, it is set on a large plot with a very welcome swimming pool for hot sunny days. The booking process was easy and efficient with quick and friendly responses from Sandy so altogether an excellent choice for a multi generational family holiday.

Fantastic family holiday home

We had a lovely family holiday. Three families ranging from 10-72 and we all had an enjoyable stay. The area is so quiet and calm. The pool nice and big (the 10 year old spent a lot of time there!). Shade for the hot weather in the beautiful garden. As a plus this was the best equipped kitchen we've ever stayed in - the drinks fridge a very welcome addition. Really hope we have a reason to stay again. (Finally, communication with Sandy leading up to the holiday was so good and helpful - made me super excited!) Recommend for future holidays.

Superb holiday gite in a beautiful setting

This is most definitely the best holiday gite we have ever stayed in! It is immaculate throughout, beautifully decorated and furnished and equipped with everything you could possibly need - a real home from home. The house is suitable for larger family groups and is exceptionally spacious throughout. The whole family loved relaxing on the new patio area, and in the pool area and there are numerous games to keep children and teenagers entertained in the garden. The location is perfect for exploring the delights of the Dordogne region with its picturesque towns and villages. A fantastic holiday!

Wonderful Villa, amazing holiday with friends

We stayed at this wonderful villa with family and friends, total of 5 adults and 5 children. We were expecting something pretty good from the description and we weren't disappointed. This villa was perfect for all our needs. Very well equipped to accommodate cooking and relaxing with the children having fun in the cooling pool and extensive garden with table tennis. We had lovely weather and enjoyed exploring the local area, including Riberac, Brantome and Aubeterre. We were all sad to leave and would definitely stay again. Thank you

This was our second visit to this lovely "home from home" having had 2 holidays at Le Paillere making some wonderful family memories. The house is spacious and airy and beautifully decorated with all the amenities you could think of everything has been thought of here. The beautiful garden and grounds with flowers, fruit trees and herbs are something to be admired and the new addition of terrace and outdoor eating area was also fabulous. The kids and big kids loved to pool too! The house is close to all amenities, lots to see and do we particularly enjoyed Verteillac night market and Aubeterre river beach. Wonderful place

Just returned from our second year at this wonderful gite. The new sun deck is a perfect addition to what was already an amazing property. The gardens are truly magical with lots of wildlife encouraged to visit. The masses of butterflies added to the magic for the children. The house is a great size with plenty of space to find that moment of tranquility by yourself or to get together as a large family over dinner. All the essential provisions are there with a few extras you didn't think you would need. The house is well decorated and very well maintained making this truly a home from home. The house is perfectly situated only a 5 minute drive from all the amenities (and Friday market) of Riberac as well as being perfectly placed to explore this picturesque area of France. Thank you for another wonderful holiday. Hopefully see you again next year.

Wow what a place

What a house garden and pool House is huge lots of space everything in it is good quality and all works Garden is massive in the sun all day and evening kids spend hours running around Pool big with lots of pool toys to keep kids amused We were 3 generations from 54ish!!! Down to 7 months and the house was ideal Well recommended for large family's with children Dog friendly the dog only came in the evening to go to sleep Sandy on email any time for emails and answered promptly First class house I would say the best one we have hired through France and been doing it many years 10/10 The listing description is accurate but I would say when get here you would say wow !! Clean on arrival and well maintained Would recommend to anyone do come to see for yourself you will not be disappointed Lovely area very private

We will be Back!

We had a wonderful week in April enjoying the sunshine and the Orchids! (At least 7 varieties). Not only has the house been refurbished to a very high standard the owners have added all the "extras" to make you feel at home. Mirrors in the right places, electric points where you need them, a kitchen that flows well and to top it off a garden to envy. We would like to return with our children and families, it would be a superb place to stay as a group. There is plenty of accommodation space along with a garden and pool area to relax and enjoy. Riberac is a lovely town and the market is extensive and varied. There are lots of places to visit in the surrounding area, but it is always great to return "home" to Le Paillere.

Stunning house and location

The property was outstanding and we were thoroughly delighted with both the size of the house and the garden. The pool was enjoyed by us all, especially the children, and the toys that were made available from the pool house. Being able to eat in the garden under the gazebo in the evening watching the sunset was magnificent. The odd game of ping pong was had and the children loved the wood at the bottom of the garden building their den. I would strongly recommend this property for a tranquil, family holiday. The kitchen was fully equipped and the house incredibly spacious for 2 children and 5 adults, all bedrooms being tastefully decorated. A car is needed in order to visit some of the lovely towns nearby.

Wonderful September week

This is a perfect location to explore the local rolling countryside and rivers and is well placed to visit the Dordogne, Bergerac and the Cognac regions. However we spent much of the time relaxing around the large pool which has broad reaching views. For a large family of 11 with three generations of different ages, everyone found something to interest them. Riberac with its market, cafes, Eleclerc and boulangerie in is only 7/8 minutes away by bicycle down the hill and there are many other places well worth exploring on bikes, on quiet country lanes. The house is a pleasure to stay in with plenty of room and modern facilities. Will definitely come again!

Family Bliss

Le Paillere was our ideal home for a holiday. With just my mother, husband and our three children we were spoilt for space. The children had the freedom to race around the vast garden (wonderful for hide and seek and hilarious games of "40-40 in") and explore the woods, with perfect spots to chill-out. We were able to enjoy peaceful lie-ins in our beautiful en-suite room upstairs as the children found plenty of their favourite programmes on the sat TV. With the lovely big pool to splash around in, lingering for hours enjoying shaded alfresco dining and table-tennis tournaments, we had to muster ourselves to go sightseeing but I'm glad we did. The children especially loved the caves at Villars which were breath-taking, the market at Riberac and swimming at the river beach. One special memory was at the end of a walk along the lanes around Villetoureix, it was dusk and against the backdrop of a full moon, throngs bats came out to feed. We definitely would like to go back to Le Paillere one day!

Amazing family holiday

Just back from staying at this lovely house - it truly is a home from home. We were a party of 6 adults and 5 children under 4 so needed the facilities to measure up - they exceeded our expectations. We never felt like we were on top of each other as they house is so well laid out. The grounds are beautiful and the camp at the end of the garden in the woods was a hit with all the kids as well as the large swimming pool. The rooms are all very comfortable and having mainly en-suites meant we all had our own bathrooms. The handbook for information on things to see and everything you needed to know about the house was consulted on numerous occasions and meant we explored the local area excessively without any unnecessary hassles. Couldn't have asked for more from a holiday and will definitely be going back. Thank you.

We live in England, and have two grown-up daughters: one recently married and working as a primary school teacher, and one at university.

We’ve always loved to travel and often found ourselves drawn to France. After we retired, we decided that we wanted to spend more time in France to enjoy the food, wines and culture of this lovely country, and to improve our conversational French.

We fell in love with this house as soon as we saw it, and count ourselves so lucky to be able to 'escape' to France as often as we can to spend time here.

Why they chose this property

Villetoureix is a quiet and peaceful location, but close enough to the pleasant town of Riberac, with its variety of small shops, cafes, bars and restaurants, and a popular weekly market.

The northern Dordogne area is relatively unspoilt, and there is a peace and tranquillity to the beautiful countryside in this region. We enjoy visiting the many delightful towns and villages in the locality of Riberac and also further afield, sampling the local cuisine and wines.

The house is also well placed to use as a base for travel further afield within the south-west of France.

What makes this property unique

Without a doubt the large terrace, 2 acre garden and swimming pool.
The house and gardens are wonderfully spacious and private, and you can feel at home as soon as you arrive. Everything is set out for your comfort and enjoyment.

The pool is so inviting, and kids of all ages can spend hours each day splashing around and having fun. The less-energetic can make the most of the peace, tranquillity and seclusion of the grounds, wandering around and relaxing at leisure. The terrace is perfectly laid out for long, lazy lunches, and tranquil al-fresco dining later in the day.

We also love the style of the property and its spacious feel inside. Upstairs, the 3 large bedrooms are all en-suite, with 2 more bedrooms downstairs, along with a family bathroom that is suitable for elderly or less mobile visitors. The downstairs bedrooms, study and sitting room all have patio-door access to the terrace. The fully fitted kitchen, with separate utility room, is well suited to catering for a large number, and the large terrace at the rear has a fantastic dining table seating 12, with additional settees for lounging.

We really want you to have the most wonderful holiday here, and to love the house as much as we do.
