Roupel Estate is a stunning country house and stable conversion that offers friends and family the flexibility and privacy of two separate spaces. Nestled within 38 acres of private gardens, parkland and woodland, historic Colleton Hall is adorned with Georgian architecture. Enjoy a balance of socialising by day and retreating to your own private accommodation by night. The idyllic and unspoilt location provides an excellent choice for those wishing to explore what Devon has to offer with rolling countryside, moorlands, valleys and spectacular beaches all easily accessible.
The space
Roupel Estate comprises two holiday homes, Roupel Hall and Roupel East Wing. Each property is complete with a luxurious and sociable layout and 38 acres of private grounds to explore.
Roupel Hall
6 Bedrooms / 6 Bathrooms / 12 Guests
The grand hall gives a flavour of the period-style blend of antiques with modern chic décor found throughout the home. The drawing room begins with two comfortable sofas, a Georgian open fireplace, a card table a baby grand piano and a Sonos System (which spans across the entire ground floor).
Meanwhile, the formal dining room features an 18-seater regency table, perfect for serving delicious banquets to enjoy together. The eclectic library can also be found here and is populated with a selection of books to read throughout your stay, or you can take advantage of the extensive collection of retro and contemporary board games.
The principal reception rooms all face south and have French doors opening onto the terrace with tables and chairs.
There are two fully-equipped kitchens, one for entertaining and the other for preparing meals (private chefs and caterers with waitress service can be arranged on request). The main kitchen features a six-seater island, two sofas, an excellent built-in bean-to-cup coffee machine and a Smart TV.
Next door is the boot room, which doubles as a place for your four-legged friends to snooze in during your stay. In addition, there are two WCs on the ground floor with further storage for coats.
The games room features a quarter-size snooker/pool table and playing cards, providing the perfect place for younger guests to chill out and have fun. Upstairs, there is a master bedroom with access to a private terrace and an en-suite, two additional king-size rooms (one also with a private terrace), two double bedrooms and one bunk bedroom. All bedrooms have an en-suite bathroom, shower room or both.
Colleton East Wing
3 Bedrooms / 2 Bathrooms / 6 Guests
Step through the front door and into the open-plan living space, finished with modern décor and light wooden beams.
The country-style kitchen is fully equipped with all your self-catering essentials, a two-seater island and a six-seater dining table. Meanwhile, the cosy sitting area features two plush green sofas and an electric log burner.
Upstairs, there are three stunning bedrooms. The master bedroom features a double bed, a Smart TV and an en-suite shower room, next door is the twin bedroom, perfect for two children or two single adults and the final bedroom features a double bed. There is also a shared family bathroom with a shower over the bath.
Outside
Outside on the south-facing front terrace, there is enough seating to accommodate 10 guests under the vine, plus an additional table that seats 6. When the sun is shining, make use of the kitchen garden with complementary seasonal vegetables, dine alfresco using the Australian gas BBQ and admire the exceptional lake views. If you are lucky, you might even spot wild red deer roaming by. At night the borders and lake light up to create a magical setting for dark sky watching or a twilight stroll.
You will also have access to the estate's 38 acres of stunning grounds, including 25 acres of private semi-ancient woodlands, 10 acres of private parkland with a 350-year-old oak, 3 acres of gardens, a fire pit and a picnic area with solid tables and benches beside the stream. If you are feeling adventurous during your stay, the owners provide a rowing boat, canoes and paddleboards for use on the lake. Or you can enjoy the more simple pleasure of feeding the resident ducks or playing a game of football, rounders and bowls on the lawn.
