About this property
Finest Retreats | Islip Mill House - Luxury Riverside Home
Islip Mill House is a Grade II listed luxury riverside retreat, beautifully nestled alongside the River Nene. It's the ideal choice for friends-and-family get-togethers with its fantastically proportioned rooms to accommodate up to eight guests for a waterside stay away.
Islip Mill House and attached Mill date back from the middle of the 18th Century. The property has evolved over time to present a comfortable and versatile family setting with plenty of character. Enjoy the beautiful riverside gardens overlooking the mill stream where Kingfishers, swans and even an otter can frequently be spotted on the river.
The accommodation is set over two floors, with four king size bedrooms. Many of the rooms enjoy a river or garden view and those that do not, enjoy views over the neighbouring countryside. The ground floor is entered via the Kitchen, boasting an impressive oil-fired Aga to cook up a storm of an evening, in addition to everything else you should need in this fully equipped kitchen. An arch opens to lead through to the breakfast room, where you can enjoy family dining with dual aspect garden and river views.
Unwind next to the cosy fireplace through to the dining area for relaxed eating experience for you and your guests. The drawing room lies adjacent and has a window overlooking the river and mill, with inviting fireplace and French windows opening to the riverside terrace. The family/snug room, with a bay window over-looking the front garden enjoys plenty of light and electric fire to make cosy on those chilly evenings.
The stairs from the dining room lead to the second floor of the house. Guests have access to four bedrooms, one with an en-suite (including an amusingly quirky alcove bathtub). A large family bathroom with large shower, WC and basin.
Locally the historical city of Oxford is just a short 7-mile drive. Famous the world over for its University, for over 800 years it has been home to royalty and scholars. Explore Oxford’s lanes lined with noble buildings and places to enjoy arts and entertainment; stop and relax for great food and drink, and see if you can see familiar sights often used as the backdrop to many TV programmes and films, from Inspector Morse to Harry Potter.
Booking Conditions:
- No smoking
- Pet Friendly! We welcome well behaved guests and their pets.
- The property is annexed and one extremity of the building may be occupied, but remains completely cut off from guest areas, including the exterior / gardens.
