About this property

Private villa with swimming pool in Chianti, Tuscany

Nestled amid vineyards, in the heart of Tuscany, the beautiful farmhouse is a typical rural stone building with private pool (13 x 5,5 m), for up to 9/10 people.
Thanks to its dimensions and the layout of the rooms, the villa is particularly suitable for several families as it allows every group to have its own privacy. Preserved and newly renovated in the original Tuscan style, the villa features all modern amenities and is lovingly furnished.
This farmhouse is beautifully situated on a hill above the village of Lucolena, which is part of the municipality of Greve in Chianti. Ideal for those who seek tranquillity, want to walk in the surrounding forests or visit the mediaeval villages and castles nearby. The villa is also situated right in the middle of the cultural triangle of Florence (28 km), Siena (40 km) and Arezzo (50 km). There is also the possibility of visiting nearby Chianti Classico wineries and buy wine, extra-virgin olive oil and the famous Tuscan desert wine Vin Santo.

Poggetta's main entry is an arched doorway that leads to a living room with an open fireplace, sofa, sat-TV and CD and DVD-player.

Continuing through another arch with glass door, you enter the dining room with high ceiling and original stone walls. The room is furnished with a table and chairs for 10 /12 people to sit comfortably. On one side of the room, there are large windows and a glass door providing the room with plenty of light and access to a furnished garden with view of the pool area.

On the left of the dining room there is the kitchen. It is well equipped with fridge, freezer, microwave oven, dishwasher, gas hobs, oven, water boiler and coffee machine. There is access to a bathroom with shower. A door leads out to a furnished garden with table and barbecue area. On one side of the room, there are stairs leading to a balcony/gallery, where you can find two single beds.
On the other side of the dining room, there is a large twin bedroom with ensuite bathroom with shower. From this room, stairs lead up directly to a comfortable double bedroom. On request, it is possible to add another single bed. The layout of the two rooms is very suitable for a family.
Going back to the main living room, on its left you can find a second kitchen with gas hobs, fridge, coffee machine and oven. There is also a convertible sofa bed which sleeps 2, sat-TV and a table with chairs. The highlight of the room is an old stone oven. From this room you can access another furnished garden on the front of the villa. Upstairs, there is a large double bedroom (convertible upon request into a twin bedroom) and an ensuite bathroom with shower.
On the right of the main living room, you can find a lounge area with comfortable sofa, Bluetooth stereo system and pellet stove. From here you can get to an anteroom leading to a double bedroom with ensuite bathroom with shower. This part of the villa is accessible for disabled guests.
For children: 2 swings and a sand-box; baby cot and high chair on request.
At the reception you can buy local products such as wine and olive oil. In the village (walking distance 10 min) there are a food shop, a bar and a pizzeria, the latter open on the weekends.

Wonderful stay in the Tuscan hills

The farmhouse was just perfect. On arrival we were greeted by Giulia's family who were so welcoming, and gave us some great local information. The house is clean, spacious and overall very beautiful. It has two outside seating areas with the most amazing views. It also has a good-sized swimming pool. The location is great - with lovely restaurants close by. We would definitely recommend staying here.

Fabulous

We had a truly fabulous week here. The villa is in a beautiful location with a 270 degree panoramic view of the Chianti hills. The house was well furnished with everything we needed. Two excellent outside eating spaces, BBQ and very lovely pool area with the view. The pool was cleaned regularly and the hosts went extra to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. The flowers and fauna around us made it very special. It is a little remote with a well stocked shop 10/15 minute walk away. The train station to Florence is a 20 minute drive and this area is full of vineyards to visit and also lovely small towns. I would highly recommend, we went with our family of 6 adults. The only thing I would advise is that one bedroom is a mezzanine within the kitchen, but that did not affect our booking for six in any way. I would highly recommend and we will return.

Great villa for groups of friends and extended families

Il Poggetta was a lovely property, nestled in the Chianti countryside with loads of great vineyards and farm experiences. The villa is great, with lots of different areas (almost like mini apartments) throughout the property which would be perfect for an extended family or group of friends for their stay (we kept saying how we'd love to come back at Christmas). The views are spectacular and lovely for a glass of wine on the terrace! Sadly it rained while we were there, so we didn't get to use the pool which also made it tough with a toddler as limited the things we could do. Still, Giulia was an amazing hostess, even making us a lasagne to enjoy one evening! Check in and check out were perfect, especially as our flights were delayed plus an early departure, but Giulia was so accommodating and understanding. Hope to return again!

Beautiful Tuscan house and pool

We are a family of five with three children in their twenties and we had a wonderful stay here just outside Lucolena. The villa is spacious and well equipped, especially the kitchen, making eating in very easy. The panoramic views of the Chianti hills from the house are just stunning and the pool is super clean, a good size and well equipped for relaxing by. The views from the pool were amazing too and we always knew how long we'd been in the sun hearing the distant regular chime of the Lucolena church bell. We soaked up the Italian atmosphere, food and wine during our stay including one of our host's famous homemade Lasagnes. The villa is perfectly located for enjoyable drives to local medieval towns and villages. Chianti in Greve was buzzing with its annual wine expo and we enjoyed exploring Radda and its lively restaurants. Siena is a scenic drive away. Florence is within easy reach too, in the other direction. If you want a peaceful and relaxing stay in Tuscany in a classic villa, away from the crowds but close enough in the car to some iconic places this is the place to be.

In the quiet countryside of Tuscany but within the reach of many historical and beautiful towns.

The house was indeed suitable for us, four couples. Our housts, Giulia and Nicole were wonderful people and helped us when needed and in addition gave us valuable tips about local restarants and places to see. Although the house is located in tje countryside it is within a comfortable reach by car from most of the beautiful historical towns and places to see. Tuscany and the amazingly many wineyards were also at hand and worth visiting. Good experience. Good people!

A lovely, secluded house with a great private pool

A group of eight friends and I stayed at the property recently and we had a brilliant time. As with many properties in the area, the house is up a steep, unpaved path, so a rental car with a very small engine might struggle, especially when carrying suitcases/food shopping. Aside from that one point, everything about the property is ideal. The location is great if you are looking for somewhere secluded as it is up on the hillside. (The actual GPS destination is a little off, so be sure to read the instructions on the website about when to turn off the main road). The house itself has around three big double-bedroom and then a couple of smaller rooms bedrooms (albeit one is a mezzanine above the kitchen). The pool is big and well-maintained. The owners were absolutely lovely and very helpful. I would definitely go back - the photos don't do it justice!

Perfect

What can I say? Words can’t describe how beautiful this place is. The house is gorgeous and very “Tuscan”. Has pretty much everything you need. Pool was lovely with lots of sun beds around. Gardens run all the way around the house which are all well kept and lots of seating areas. 360 degree beautiful views that you can wistfully look at all day. House is clean and well equipped. Lots of rooms and as there was two family’s with kids of different ages it was perfect as everyone had own space. Owners are absolutely lovely and more than willing to help with anything. We did have a little problem finding it as sat nav kept taking us to the wrong place (only a couple of minutes away) and the steep drive up is an experience! Will definitely be coming back. This is like paradise for me. Couldn’t have asked for more.

The best Holliday ever!!!

The property exceeded our expectations. The owners we warm and generous. The space in the Villa was most suitable for a family of 5 plus 2 grandparents. The facilities were excellent and the entertaining areas just splendid. The relatively new swimming pool was a hit with our three grandchildren girls who used it constantly throughout our stay. The evening meal on our arrival was a fantastic option and beautifully prepared. We all enjoyed the company of the fireflies each evening as the darkness set in. The detailed attention to the garden with lots of herbs and the flowering lavender (you have to be luck to be at the villa at the right time of the year!!!). Thank you for the best holiday ever.

Chianti at its best

We were a group of nine friends travelling to Italy for the first time, for the majority of the group. We drove from Rome to Lucolena and were able to find the villa relatively easily, albeit after a few wrong exits. The villa was situated at the end of a steep gravel driveway, which put our driving skills to the test. In Chianti standards it was really nothing but to novice drivers it was a challenge at first, but by the end of our trip we were expert. It was a gorgeous villa and fit us perfectly. It was a spacious home with two kitchens and 4 bathrooms. The beds were very comfortable so we slept very well. The view was spectacular and serene. The pool was small but just what we needed on those very hot ( unusually warm summer) days. The location was close to Greve in Chianti, Radda in Chianti and Figline. Although the distance was not far ( 10 KM) driving the switch backs on the way there made it a longer drive. It was hard at night but again after a few days were we more comfortable with it. We did a day trip to Florence but did not drive there as it is always a hassle to find parking etc. so our host advised us to get the "fast" train to Florence which started we got in Figline and were in Florence in 30 min. I highly recommend doing it that way. Our hosts were so very helpful and sweet, we had direct access to them via WhatsApp, any questions we had or advice was given swiftly. They also helped to get us a driver to take the group to Cinque Terre for the day. I rented a bike (road) for the week from Ramuzzi Cycles in Greve. Grocery shopping is close by in Figline- Coop. There is a cute ristorante on the road to Greve that we went to the last night in Lucolena which we regret not going to before, it was about 3 kms away and literally on the main road to Greve in Dudda. We sat on the street literally and had a few drinks. We also took a drive to The Mall that is the outlet mall for high end brands like Prada, Gucci, Tods, Hugo Boss etc. It was easy to find and you can get good deals but still obviously expensive. We drove to Montepulciano, Montalcino, Seina and environs. I recommend going to Solociccia for lunch or dinner, in Panzano in Chianti, ( Antica Macelleria Cecchini). I would highly recommend Pogetta, we were so fortunate to have such a wonderful host, we could not be more grateful. And the home made lasagna was a god send. Thank you so much!

A wonderful holiday

This was probably the best house and location for any holiday we have experienced. The house was beautiful and excellent for multiple families. The house was well equipped and had views to die for. The house is a reasonable distance from any village and is located up a very steep gravel path so a car is essential. The swimming pool was smaller than we expected but was still large enough for us all to have fun in. The pool area was lovely with plenty of loungers, parasols and even a comfortable swing lounger. The owners were very helpful and were very quick to respond to all our questions and requirements. We also much appreciated the home cooked lasagne which was a very kind gesture from the owners. If you are looking for a beautiful Tuscan location set in the middle of grape vines and olive trees and traditional house then I would highly recommend this house.

Wonderful.

The property is wonderful. The views are amazing and the garden is beautifully kept. The pool, whilst small, is immaculately kept. Sufficient loungers for 8 are provided with plenty of shade. 2 barbecues and 2 separate lovely spaces to eat. The house is lovely - the space in fact nicer than the online pictures. The kitchen was well equipped with everything you could need. The owners were friendly and accommodating. A truly magical place to spend time in Tuscany. Yes the road is steep - but the pay off is the views! I would fully recommend to anyone.

BEAUTIFUL LARGE AND PRIVATE VILLA

We stayed in Villa Poggetta in August of this year, our first trip to Tuscany. The villa was beautiful, clean and quiet and housed two families (4 in each) perfectly. The facilities are very good, everything we could need and the views are spectacular. As others have said the road up to the villa is a little 'rugged' but we managed to drive and walk down it! The village centre is about a 10 minute walk away and there is a restaurant there that serves wonderful Italian food at very reasonable prices from Thursday to Sunday nights only. The location is excellent to view the major towns and cities of Tuscany and there is a very large Co-op in Figline (about a 10 minute drive). A car is a must. The owners of the villa were incredibly helpful and welcoming. I left a cherished piece of jewellery behind and they did everything they could to ensure I got it back in one piece - thank you!

Wonderful place!!

The villa was all we expected. As others reviewers said the road to the villa is a little tricky but once you get used to it is not bad. The place was cleaned and comfortable. The landscape with all the herb shrubs is wonderful, just walk to the backyard and pick them to cook. I for sure recommend this place, it was close to different towns and convenient to visit Pisa, Florence, Arezzo, Siena, SanGimigniano, all within one or two hours drive. We enjoyed our stay very much. Picarda and Nicolo were very good hosts and brought a wonderful lasagna with fresh vegetables and mushrooms. A very nice touch. Thank you to them for sharing their home with us. Maria from USA

A Perfect stay in Tuscany

Farmhouse Poggetta in Lucolena is as wonderful and charming as it sounds. As a family of 9 (6 adults & 3 children) we booked it for 2 weeks for a special occasion and it was all we hoped it would be. The layout of the farmouse is perfect for a large family, with two kitchens, 3 shower rooms and separate apartment use, providing excellent privacy when required. Recent renovation and refurbisment has preserved the true Tuscan style and it is tastefully and comfortably furnished. The gardens, terraces and pool areas are superb with tables, chairs and loungers for everyone, all suitably positioned to view the stunning Tuscan hills. It's fun using the open air utility room, at the same time keeping an eye on the children playing in the pool. Ours host Anna Maria was exceptionally helpful and her brother in law Niccolo called in regularly to ensure smooth running at the farmouse, keeping it well maintained. Niccolo's wife will arrange a meal with a few days notice and she cooked and served us (with Niccolo) an excellent special 4 course Tuscan dinner together with a selection of wines from their winery. It was a terrific evening, on the terrace, made magical by twinkling fireflies surrounding us throughout. There's an excellent rail service to Florence and Pisa from Figlene (20 minutes drive away) and Lucolena is well situated for the S222. The Chianti Classico and Olive Oil of Fattoria l'ottavo is to be recommended. Perfect rural Italy.

Loved Poggetta!

We had the most enjoyable stay, Fattoria L'Ottavo was EXACTLY what we were looking for. The farmhouse, Poggetta, where we stayed was beautiful and very affordable for the 3 total couples in our group. Very clean and comfortable inside with a perfect blend of modern improvements, without losing the traditional Tuscan villa feel. We loved getting up in the morning and drinking coffee outside enjoying the views. It felt so private and remote, and yet was a close drive to many larger towns. It really was perfect and I would highly recommend it to anyone. Also, their chianti wine was our favorite of all the wines we tried during our time in Tuscany. If I ever go back, I will definitely be staying there again. I can't imagine a more perfect match for us.

Really nice villa!

The villa was more than we expected! Nice and clean, pool was just perfect for the children and better customer service you can't get! Everything we needed, we got. Only thing that should be mentioned in description is that the road to the villa is not so good and really difficult to drive because the villa is situated on a high hill.

Awesome place.

I looked for several weeks off and on to find the right place for my family (5 of us) to stay, along with my sister, brother in law and neice for a five day stay to celebrate one of my daughters' graduation from HS. I definitely found the right one--Poggetta.The 8 of us stayed in the entire house. It was lovely and the owners very, very nice and helpful, communicated well with us before going there, and made our stay exceptional. They produce awesome wine as well!! I would recommend this to everyone.

Our own dream house in Chianti

We absolutely loved the house and our stay there. The setting is wonderful, the views are jaw stopping and the inside of the house is even better than on the photos. Every room has its own bathroom and its own terrace if needed so it’s very comfortable to stay with friends and extended family. The kitchen is well equipped and the pool large and well maintained. As everywhere in Italy, there are a lot of bugs in summer (mosquitoes and such) but the family in charge of the house was always on the lookout for us and helped very well to make our stay comfortable. They are all very nice and joyful, exactly as their house. They also make a delicious olive oil that we were happy to buy when we departed. It’s the best souvenir to have with us at home. The Chianti is a gorgeous region of Tuscany. It’s located in low mountains so you might be able to enjoy a nice breeze in a hot summer which is always nice. And the dreamlilke towns of Florence and Sienna are only an hour away. There is so much to do here, we will definitely come back.
