About this property
Deer Close - UK45787
You’ll love the eco-friendliness of this ’back to nature’, handcrafted shepherd’s hut. Seamlessly nestled in private woodland and surrounded by nature, abundant wildlife and 360°
views, this location is the epitome of peace and serenity.. All on the Ground Floor:
Open plan living space.
Living area: (No TV), Woodburner
Dining area.
Kitchen area: Gas Hob, Fridge
Bedroom: Double (4ft 6in) Bed
Shower Room: Walk-In Shower, Toilet. Heating by wood burner, electricity by solar power, LPG gas, bed linen and towels included. Initial fuel for wood burner included. Wood fired hot tub for 2 (private). Private parking for 1 car, 350m away. No smoking. Please note: This property is accessed via an uneven woodland track.. These shepherd’s huts have been built with the environment at the heart of their design - over 80% of the materials used for the build being recycled upcycled or reclaimed, all being sourced locally. The shower runs off collected rainfall, the toilet is composting (you will see no difference!) and electricity is by solar power or local green energy (seldom needed). You can see the wind farm from where power is created and this provides a minuscule carbon footprint. The huts are cosy with all fundamental facilities provided; traditionally meals would be created on top of the wood burner, and you are encouraged to give this a go using the cast iron crockery provided.
One of the main attraction of this hut is its outstanding location - it simply ‘disappears’, blending beautifully into the surrounding woods which are abundant in wildlife. The views over the estuary are ever-changing views are breathtaking, so whether you wake in the morning to the hustle and bustle of the busy woods and its inhabitants or relax in the wood-fired hot tub enjoying dark sky (no light pollution here), the stresses and strains of modern life will simply ebb away.
Self-sufficient travellers will do well here, but the Lakeland market town of Broughton-in-Furness is a just a 10-minute drive. It’s also a half-hour walk from Green Road railway station, if you want to dispense with the car for your trip.
South Lakes Wild Animal Park is 6 miles, Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway 10¼ miles, Lakeland Motor Museum 11 miles, Holker Hall and Gardens 11¾ miles. If you fancy a lake cruise, Windermere Lake Cruises are 12½ miles, whilst other places of interest include Dalton Castle 6½ miles and Cartmel Priory Gatehouse 12¾ miles. Beautiful Coniston, Tarn Hows and Fell Foot Park are 12¾ miles, and if you enjoy cycling, there are over 12,000 miles of cycling routes. Muncaster Castle, Ulverston Sands and the Swinside Stone Circle are also nearby and public transport can take you to farmers markets and shops. There is plenty to enjoy in the local area, and you are sure to come back for more, time and time again.
