Wonderful week at Vessacks

Vessacks is in an idyllic spot perched above cliff tops at Porthcurno, with uninterrupted and magnificent views of the sea and surrounding countryside. The house is beautifully and thoughtfully kitted out with everything one could need. We look forward to our next visit.

Such a peaceful, beautiful luxury house

The house is fantastic! Stunning views in a wonderful location. Super clean, very well equipped and comfortable with everything you need. We enjoyed watching the boats and ships passing by and the birds. Walking paths nearby are excellent. The owner was incredibly kind and responsive. The most perfect spot

Although the weather was rather challenging we had the most relaxing holiday- rarely need to get in the car with great walks to Pednvounder, Nanzijal and multiple opportunities to see seals surfing the waves! The property is fantastic- will be back to my favourite part of Cornwall Katherine as host was responsive and very friendly

Hands down the best holiday house I've stayed in.

Hands down the best holiday house I've stayed in. It was a real wrench to leave. An utterly blissful week. We came as a family of four (two children under 4), with my sister and mother joining us for a spell. Everybody loved it! Especially the dramatic reveal of the views on the first morning. Vessacks had everything we could wish for in terms of amenities, games, tools and books. Its crowning jewel is its stunning views straight out to the ocean. The house is right on the cliff edge and sympathetically laid out to let the sea in at every possible point - try doing the washing-up to a stormy Celtic Sea, a real treat! The house is very clean, with excellent quality furnishings. Lots of interesting adventures close by, too - all thoughtfully laid out in the welcome pack. Katherine is an amazing host, always on hand to answer questions and give us the best possible experience. We love Vessacks!

Welcoming house and host

Loved our stay at Vessacks. Katherine, the host, was brilliant at quickly replying to my many, many queries and (as someone who has lots of allergies) it was great to find a truly dog-free house. The house is beautifully situated, with nature so close by - we saw a charm of 26 goldfinch in the hedges one day and a badger on several evenings. Even though a few days were stormy the house was lovely and warm, clean and comfortable, with everything we needed for a perfect holiday. We would love to return some day.

What a stunning place on earth!

We and our friends, a total 8 people between the age of 14 and 52, had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful house with these lovely and stunning views for 2 weeks. Eveything was perfect, from the very well equipped kitchen to the clean and modern bathrooms and the bedrooms with most comfortable beds. The communication with Katherine was always uncomplicated, very friendly and extremly helpful. Exploring Cornwall and its many picturesque villages, coves and beaches made our holiday a very special and rememberable one! We recommend the Vessacks to all who are looking for a relaxing and unforgettable vacation, away from the hustle and bustle of this world :-) Thank you for a wonderful stay and till the next time! We had a fabulous week's stay at Vessacks!

We knew that we were in for a treat when we read the reviews beforehand, but it proved to be even better than we imagined - stunning views; spacious, comfortable & well-equipped accommodation; wildlife 'on the doorstep' (seals, choughs, two stags & hinds & various birds of prey during our stay); easy access to the coast path; places to visit locally (we enjoyed seeing a production at the Minack Theatre & visiting the Global Communications Museum) &, of course, many more locations to explore further afield. It proved a real wrench to leave at the end of our holiday - we were truly entranced by the magic of Vessacks & would love to return one day.

Sun, rain, gales - but it’s always lovely at Vessacks

Such a well thought out house in such a lovely position that you cannot fail to love it here as we do. We experienced a full gamut of weather but certainly topped up tans on the good days! We missed our visit to the Minack again having missed it because of covid originally; this year it was the bad weather which thwarted us. The views from Vessacks are mesmerising and I could look at them all day … even when there rain and a howling gale there is something comforting about being inside and warm and dry. You can’t fail to love it here.

One of the best locations in Cornwall

The initial reaction of all our party was ‘Wow’! The huge picture windows facing south revealed an azure sea and infinite views. Windows to the west captured dramatic sunsets. The house was spacious, very well equipped and the beds extremely comfortable. There were quiet rooms, family rooms, and modern bathrooms. The gardens were neatly kept and suitable for youngish children. The location was perfect being effectively the last house on a no-through road and placed directly above an idyllic beach which required a bit of a scramble to access. Our host was immediately responsive to one contact we needed to make. The only downside, which was easily avoidable, was the heavy traffic leaving the Minack theatre when one was trying to return to the house from Porth Curno. Make sure you know the theatre performance times and avoid returning during a mass exit. We would return in a heartbeat.

Just wonderful!

We had the most wonderful week at Vessacks with our grown up children and their families. We had originally booked for 2020 to celebrate my husband's 50th birthday, but 2 lockdowns later, thanks to Peter and Katherine's kindness in rolling our week over (twice!), we finally made it for his 52nd! The house is so spacious, spotlessly clean, comfortable, and with everything you could possibly need for a relaxing stay in the most stunning location. The kitchen is a delight to cook in - we had a supermarket delivery and ate in every night, round the huge sociable table. The views are breathtaking! We enjoyed the outlook equally in the evenings as we were treated to shooting stars, so many more constellations on display than we're used to seeing due to the lack of light pollution, and of course, the many twinkling lights on the sea. The showers are hot, the beds and sofas so comfy. Porthcurno has been a favourite and very special family holiday location for the past 20 years and we have stayed in many lovely rentals there, but Vessacks is by far our favourite! We hope to return!

What a wonderful place Vessacks is!

Well, we had the most wonderful week at Vessacks and even had some November sunshine. We also had a spectacular storm which was quite something to watch from the windows. Vessacks is a very special place. It felt like home from the minute we arrived. Peter was the most marvellous host and both he and Jenny (the local manager) were absolutely lovely when we had to call regarding a little mishap we’d had with the table cloth. We absolutely loved our stay and all I can say is that if you’re thinking of booking then go right ahead and do it! It’s a truly fabulous place with the most beautiful views! Thank you, Peter and Vessacks for a wonderful week.

A glorious get-away

Vessacks is situated in the most beautiful spot: perched on the edge of the village, overlooking the sea, it has a big place in our hearts. It only takes a few minutes to get to the little cove from the house (harness your inner mountain goat!) and there you are, on a very uncrowded, sandy beach. It is easy to walk to a larger beach, down the hill at Porthcurno (or across the clifftop path) and of course Penzance, St Michael's Mount, St Ives, all are within easy reach. It's an absolute gem, sadly now extremely expensive, but a truly lovely place to stay.

Wonderful

House is spacious, comfortable and in an unbeatable location. Had 2 weeks of sheer bliss - lots of walks along the coast and down to the beaches with plenty of swimming, pasties, cream teas and ice cream on the way. Also visited the PK Telegraph museum which was an unexpected treasure.

About the host

Hosted by Katherine

Host profile image
It’s four decades since Ann Grace fell in love with Vessacks. The Grace family were already regular visitors to Cornwall, but Vessacks’s stunning sea views were special. Since then, it’s become a much-loved holiday home for three generations of family, as well as for countless guests – friends, families and couples who have returned time and again to enjoy its spectacular views, relax on the nearby beaches and walk the Cornish coastal paths.

Why they chose this property

Vessacks has some of the very best views in Cornwall. It is directly on the South West Coastal Path with panoramas over the sea from almost every room. At night you can see galaxies, stars, comets, satellites, planets and the moon, as well as passing ships and fishing boats, nocturnal wildlife.

What makes this property unique

Guests repeatedly write about the stunning location, abundant wildlife and many nearby beaches. Vessacks remains a convening point for members of the Grace family and is still family-run. Many of our guests visit year after year; some have been coming since the 1980s.
