About this property

Yosemite Hilltop Cabins, Lupin Cabin,15 min to the Valley floor, Wifi

Important - If Yosemite National Park implements a peak-hours reservation system for the summer of 2025 YOU WILL NOT need to obtain a peak-hours reservation if you are staying in one of our cabins. Our cabins are inside the gates of Yosemite National Park. You will be allowed to stay in Yosemite for the length of your reservation. You will still need to pay the $35 park entrance fee (credit card only) when you arrive unless you have a park pass.

Thank you for selecting Yosemite Hilltop Cabins for your get-away! You will receive a pre-check-in email regarding your stay, if you can fill that out it would be much appreciated. As some details are required, other questions simply help with the housekeeping schedule.

Yosemite Hilltop Cabins are located within the gates of Yosemite National Park in the tiny community of Foresta. It is hard to believe that such a quiet and peaceful place like this exists just fifteen minutes from the sometimes bustling Yosemite Valley.

NOTE – This listing is for the Lupin Cabin. The listing and availability calendar for the Sage Cabin is also on VRBO/HomeAway under property number 815550. Both cabins are on the same property, have the same floor plan, and are furnished almost identically.

Our cabins are very private. Even though the Sage and Lupin Cabins are located next to each other they are oriented to maintain maximum privacy. Each cabin has 17-foot-tall wood beam ceilings with ceiling fans and lots of windows to take advantage of the beautiful views of the surrounding mountains.

Each cabin has a master bedroom with a comfy king-size bed and down comforter. There is also a foldout sofa bed that is the size of a full mattress.
The cabin has a full bath, full kitchen, and reading loft. Each cabin also has its own patio with a high quality Weber gas barbecue

When you arrive at your cabin there will be fresh linens on the bed and clean towels in the bathroom. There will be brand-name shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the bathroom. You will only need to bring food, clothes, and personal toiletry items.

Fantastic hiking and running trails with wildflowers, waterfalls, and wildlife can be accessed right from the cabins.

Unfortunately no pets or dogs are allowed. Yosemite is not very dog friendly. You won't be able to take your dog with you on hikes.

Each cabin has a TV/DVD player. The TV has no programming, DVD only. There is a small DVD library to pick from or you can bring your own movies.
The kitchen has all the cookware and dinnerware that you will need to prepare and serve meals. The kitchen also has a microwave oven, toaster, blender, coffee grinder, and coffee maker.
The cabins are heated in the winter by propane heaters that look like wood-burning stoves. Both cabins have evaporative coolers that work great to keep the cabins cool during the summer..
Some cell phones work at the cabins. Verizon is the best. Each cabin has a land-line telephone for use during your stay.
There is satellite internet provided by HughesNet. There is a cap on the amount of bandwidth that is available. PLEASE DO NOT STREAM MOVIES OR WATCH VIDEOS AS IT WILL IMPACT GUESTS THAT ARRIVE AFTER YOU.

Current Yosemite road and weather conditions can be found by calling Yosemite National Park at 209-372-0200. Current road conditions in the State of California can be found by calling Caltrans at 800-427-7623.

Grocery Stores/Markets near cabins – Crane Flat Gas Station/Market (8 miles), Yosemite Village Market (13 miles), El Portal Market on Hwy 140 (14 miles).

Hilltop Cabins practices good neighbor policies. A signed rental agreement and ID verification are required.

Perfect location for a relaxing stay

We loved our stay at Lupin cabin. The cabin was as described and the bed was very comfortable for a great night’s sleep. We especially enjoyed sitting out on the patio after a long day at Yosemite. Staying at the cabin was the highlight of our California holiday.

Lovely location, cute cabin

We stayed three nights and had a lovely stay. Tucked away off the main Yosemite routes. Blissfully quiet. About 30mins to valley floor. Everything needed was provided, great communications from Steve, and we barbequed every night, eating and sitting out on the front deck. Glorious! Only thing to note is the sofa bed is very soft and better suited to one child. We had to put the mattress on the floor on top of the sun bed cushions to stop our two teenagers rolling in each other during the night!! I’d say

Fantastic location for a quaint little cabin

Loved staying at the Lupin cabin - the location being inside the park was so convenient, and shaved off hours of travel time, especially with the queues at the entrance gate. The kitchen is very well equipped, the bed is super comfy, and the heating made the cabin nice and toasty on the colder mornings. The area is so quiet and peaceful, and the wildflowers around the cabin were beautiful. It’s also a short walk from Foresta Falls which is really pretty (when it’s flowing!). Steve was an excellent host - very accommodating, quick to respond and really helpful. We are already thinking of returning in a couple of years to do the parts of Yosemite that were closed during our stay.

Brilliant, well equipped cabin - so peaceful

The cabin was exactly what we were hoping for - peaceful, great location, well equipped and a perfect base for visiting Yosemite. The patio table and barbecue were great for breakfast and after a long day of hiking (our favourite hike this trip was to Stanford Point, a couple of miles passed Inspiration Point). The best thing about the cabin, though, was the silence. No car noise. No voices. Just birds and insects. Fantastic stay.

Great Cabin!!!

We just spent three days at the Lupin cabin and it was as advertised: cozy, comfortable, clean, well stocked with everything working. Nice hikes right outside the door and of course Yosemite Valley 10 minutes away. Great communication with owner. Highly recommend.

Heaven in Yosemite

I cannot say enough about this beautiful, relaxing oasis in the middle of Yosemite Park. It's away from the more "popular" attractions yet still close enough. The host was kind enough to allow us an additional night in the cabin during our stay as we wanted to spend another day in the park. We will definitely be staying here again on our next Yosemite trip. Don't hesitate to book this cabin!!!

Great Property!

We had a great stay at the Lupin Cabin. The property was exactly as described in the listing. Kitchen was adequately stocked for us to prepare meals. WiFi worked great. The electric heater kept the temperature comfortable. The location was exceptional. So great to have a quick drive down the hill to get to Yosemite Valley. Glad we arrived before dark our first day. We really enjoyed the family of deer we saw everyday as we were heading out and returning. Would stay here again without question and highly recommend.

Great Location but needs some freshening up.

The cabin is about a 20-30 minute drive from the Yosemite village center. The cabin is situated in a very secluded area of the park. it is a Lovely location. The cabin itself is quite small but perfect for 2 people. The furnishings need more care as they all appeared to be worn out a bit and could use some cleaning (sofa). The bathroom had fresh towels but the tub needed a cleaning. The dvd player in the living room was not functioning when we arrived. We contacted the owner who was extremely accommodating and very nice and apologetic about the bathroom and dvd player. We did manage to make the DVD player work. Overall, it's an ok place to stay for a short visit but needs some "freshening" up.

Quiet, with lots of wildlife

Comfortable space for the 2 of us. I saw 2 deer next to the bedroom window early 1st morning. We also saw other deer and a bobcat. Great location to visit Yosemite Valley and then get away from all the busyness. The grill could use a cleaning. Everything we needed for meal prep was here and with other thoughtful touches made for an enjoyable stay.

Hilltop Cabin retreat!

This is a lovely secluded spot and we loved the setting. the outdoor patio was super to just sit with coffee in the morning. The kitchen has a wonderful full sized refrigerator and lots of cooking supplies and everything was well organized! We three sisters enjoyed being together in such a peaceful place and one day we just walked around the property and enjoyed the native plants and one night we ventured out and saw the milky way and lots of stars. This was my second time here and I will definitely try for another stay!

We stayed here for four nights on our honeymoon and had an excellent time! The location inside the park is wonderful, the cabin is peaceful, and the bed is so comfortable after a long day of hiking. Home away from home

We fell in love with our cabin (the Lupkin), it had every convenience to feel like home. It was so cozy and peaceful. Some thoughtful touches were, the coffee grinder, an extra propane tank, shampoo, conditioner and body wash and the cute patio area with table and chairs that we used daily. OH and the stars from the lofted bedroom window...amazing! Steve was extremely responsive to emails and the check in & out was to the point, no frills and seamless. You wont get a lot of mind boggling tasks to do before checking out or enjoying this cabin.

Excellent cabin in a lovely location

This was our first stay in Foresta and we'd definitely stay here again. It's well situated for the Yosemite Valley floor as well as all the trailheads on the Tioga Road and also for Hetch Hetchey. The cabin is in a quiet wooded area and is very peaceful. It's well equipped and comfortable and we'd stay here again

Great location and perfect size

We had a great time at the Lupin Cabin. It may not be right in the middle at Yosemite village, but it was only a short and picturesque 20 min drive down the hill. On most days we drove down into the valley, hiked the morning, drove back for a break around lunchtime, and the back again for a shorter hike, and to catch the amazing late afternoon light on the mountains. The cabin was perfect and had everything we needed. Our 13 yo daughter stayed upstairs. Foresta itself was lovely and quiet with the scent from the trees everywhere. It was a great escape from the rest of the tourists in the valley. Finally, Steve our host was perfect. Easy to contact, and always responded promptly. Thanks so much Steve, your cabin just made the Yosemite experience for us perfect!
