About this property

Quaint, Historic 400-Year-Old Tudor Cottage Near Windsor

Step back in time and experience the charm and history of our enchanting 400-year-old Tudor Cottage, nestled in the picturesque village of Wraysbury. Built in the late 16th Century, this unique retreat offers an authentic taste of England's rich heritage while providing all the modern comforts for a memorable stay.

As you walk through the front door, you'll immediately be captivated by the cottage's historic charm. The original wooden beams, traditional leaded windows, and steeply pitched roof showcase the craftsmanship of a bygone era. The cozy living spaces are adorned with period furnishings and a crackling log burner fires in Inglenook fireplaces, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere that's perfect for relaxation and comfort.

Despite its age, our Tudor Cottage is equipped with all the modern amenities you need for a comfortable stay. The fully equipped kitchen allows you to prepare your favourite meals, while high-speed Wi-Fi will keep you connected. The contemporary bathroom offers a refreshing retreat after a day of exploring. there is an ensuite bathroom with slipper bath adjoining the Master Bedroom.

However, please be mindful of the cottage's unique character: the door lintels are notably low, and the staircase is irregular, which may pose challenges for those with mobility issues. We installed a second staircase to supplement the original stairway. This has created a perfect party property with many possible routes through the Cottage.

Step outside into the lush garden, which is a serene oasis where you can enjoy your morning coffee, read a book, or simply soak in the peaceful surroundings. The garden patio deck is the perfect spot for an evening glass of wine or a quiet moment of reflection. There is a 'ceramic egg' barbeque on the garden patio with dining areas for adult guests and a dining set for smaller people.

Wraysbury is a delightful village that offers a perfect blend of rural charm and modern convenience. Stroll through the village to discover our two traditional pubs, local shops, Village Green with Cricket square and scenic walking trails. The friendly community atmosphere makes it easy to feel at home.

Our Tudor Cottage is ideally located for exploring the best of southern England. Wraysbury train station is just a 5-minute walk away, providing easy access to London Waterloo in 47 minutes, with stops at Twickenham and Richmond along the way. Windsor, location of the magnificent Windsor Castle, is just a 10-minute train journey in the opposite direction. Wander through the town's charming streets, visit the castle, or take a leisurely stroll along the Thames River or cross the river to Eton on the other side of the river.

For nature lovers and history enthusiasts, the ancient Ankerwycke Yew tree is a must-see. This incredible tree is believed to be over 2,500 years old, it is recognised as one of the '50 Great Trees of Britain' and is located just a 20-minute countryside ramble from the cottage. The tree is not only a natural wonder but also a historic site, with legends suggesting it was a meeting place for the sealing of the Magna Carta: it is also alleged that King Henry VIII courted Anne Boleyn at this site.

As I am a private host and Tithe Farm Cottage is my home. I endeavour to welcome my guests whenever possible to ensure a smooth check-in and provide a warm introduction to the cottage. If my schedule doesn't allow this, there is a key safe is available for your convenience. Rest assured, I am always reachable and happy to assist with any questions or needs during your stay.

One of the joys of staying in our Tudor Cottage is the peace and tranquility it offers. After 10pm, outdoor noise is minimal, allowing you to enjoy a restful night's sleep. Wake up refreshed and ready to explore all that Wraysbury and the surrounding areas have to offer.
There will be occasional aircraft noise as we are close to Heathrow, but air traffic routes are varied to prevent nuisance.

Perfect short get away from London

We were going away for a couple of nights from London and Nigel’s house was perfect for that! It was cosy, comfy and spacious all at the same time. It only took an hour to get there from North London so exactly what we had been hoping for. Nigel was a fantastic host. Very responsive but also relaxed, again the exact balance we’d been hoping for. Highly recommend.

Christmas with Friends

We had a wonderful day at the cottage! Nigel was a fantastic host, and the cottage was absolutely perfect for our needs. We were 7 friends catching up on our annual Xmas get together. We can’t thank Nigel enough for his amazing communication before hand. We have already recommended to others, and would be keen to book again! Thanks very much :)

Cosy home away from home

Gorgeous little cottage with lots of room, perfect for a family of 6. Classy interior with lots of amazing books to read and artwork to look at. Even in the toilet! Beautiful crockery and enough space around the table to invite some additional guests if you wanted to. The beds are very comfortable with lovely pillows for decoration. The bath is nice but the temeperature of the shower can´t be adjusted, so it works if you don´t mind the water being lukewarm. The kids enjoyed the garden and the swirly tennis. The flightpath over the cottage is a bit unfortunate, luckily the air traffic isn´t too strong at night. The spacious and cosy lounge with a woodburner was an absolute highlight, too. Nigel is a super host, very quick to respond, welcoming and helpful, providing informations for the house and the surroundings (tips for sightseeing etc.). We had an fantastic time, thankyou
