About this property

Wyck Cottage - pet friendly in Wyck Rissington near Bourton-on-the-Water

Step into historic England at Wyck Cottage in the almost untouched village of Wyck Rissington, a hidden Cotswold secret. You will be struck by the peaceful atmosphere where your daily stresses melt away and you have the freedom to spend your time at your own pace.

Wyck Cottage is the embodiment of a Cotswold escape with original features adding character throughout. A large inglenook of exposed stone, wooden beams, and a quirky layout born from the cottage's history create a cosy nook, ideal for a digital detox and making the most of time with friends and family. The home was once two cottages, and you can see part of its history in the old hinges at the front where past noblemen would store their carriages. Each bedroom has an en-suite and the living areas lend themselves to long conversations and family meals.

Find hidden secrets in the garden as you follow the path to an area left to grow naturally tucked behind a gated fence. Welcoming rewilding, there is a small pond where local wildlife can make its home. The dogs will love playing on the lawn and there are opportunities to dine or simply embrace your surroundings while sipping a cup of tea.

Ground Floor

Living Room
Your introduction to Wyck Cottage is the traditional living room. With flagstone flooring, exposed Cotswold stone and wooden beams it is a warm and inviting space. Lighting the open fire in its large inglenook surround you are wrapped in this cosy atmosphere, resting on the window seat to look across the quiet cottage garden.

Dining Room
Make the most of mealtimes by gathering the family for uninterrupted time together. Seating four you can serve breakfast through to dinner while talking about your plans for the next day. The original features continue here with a large central wooden beam and a decorative woodburner within a stone surround.

Kitchen
While preparing meals in the classic country kitchen, gaze across the garden watching the birds flit between the trees. You will find everything you need with the pantry providing extra storage for any necessities you can't leave behind. From here, step out to the garden to enjoy breakfast al fresco while you wait for the rest of the family to rise.

First Floor

As Wyck Cottage was once two properties, there are two sets of stairs up to the first floor which separates the bedrooms.

Bedroom Two
An impressive A-frame roof of exposed wooden beams sits high above this spacious twin room with the finish of a traditional black and white building. The chimney from the fire below is a feature of this room as the Cotswold stone adds interest.

En-Suite
The quirky layout has created a split en-suite with the WC and sink at one side of the chimney and the shower to the other.

Bedroom One
With four walls of Cotswold stone and a beamed ceiling, the master bedroom is a cosy hideaway. Peaceful surroundings and a comfortable double bed ensure a great night's sleep.

Second Floor

En-Suite
Tucked away beneath the eaves, the en-suite to bedroom one has a sumptuous freestanding bath where you can soak away your worries. It is a wonderfully private spot where you can shut the world away and enjoy a moment to yourself.

Outside

Beginning from the terrace beside the kitchen you can enjoy the serenity of your cottage garden. Flowing into a lawn which leads down to a fenced section where nature has been left to its own devices it is a lovely spot to feel the spark of joy spending time outside brings.

10/10 Excellent

A very lovely cottage and very comfortable

Our impression as soon as we walked in, and looked around was that it is a very lovely cottage. It's size belies the impression from the outside. The lounge is very cosy, with a sofa and armchair which are both very comfortable. It is well lit with the lights on. The dining room is a very handy distance between the lounge and the kitchen. The main bedroom has a super large, spacious bed which I was happy to stay in when I awoke. So comfortable. The main bathroom is upstairs in the roof, accessed via a smaller staircase. The only point is that the roof closes down the room you have on the stairs so it's a little more difficult to access, but once you've done it a couple of times you can navigate it easily enough. The other bedroom has two single beds which again are very comfortable and the en-suite toilet and shower was just right. As a location it isn't far from Bourton-On-The-Water, which is a beautiful place to visit. I loved it and would have no problem staying here again.

Charming stay at Wyck Cottage

My daughter and I had a wonderful stay at Wyck Cottage in the Cotswolds. The cottage was beautiful, cosy, full of charm and set in a picturesque quaint village, it was the perfect blend of traditional character and modern comfort. The location was ideal and close to everything you would want to explore in the Cotswolds from scenic walks to local pubs and shops. Whether you are looking for a romantic break or a peaceful countryside break Wyck Cottage is a fantastic choice. We will definitely be back soon.
