About this property
Laurelin: Gorgeous Lakes apartment for 4 Ambleside
'Laurelin In The Lakes' is my lovely, highly spacious ground-floor apartment in a sought after location on Lake Road, 3 mins level stroll from Ambleside centre! Beautiful decor, bespoke wall art, fabulous 'mountain' mural original, superb large lounge/diner with impressive corner sofa. Private parking space, rare in such a central spot! Fast/unlimited Wifi, TNT/Sky Sports, Smart TV's, Netflix, PS4/games. Private entrance. I love that my favourite restaurants, the fells and lake are all so close!
The space
Welcome to my home, ‘Laurelin In The Lakes’, an eclectic and boutique-style two bedroom apartment ideal for one or two couples, based in the wonderful old slate built former hotel building of Wansfell Tower Court.
Step straight from your parking space into the hallway via a private entrance. You'll find the generous, all-on-one level accommodation a real bonus if you're with anyone of limited mobility.
Move through to the characterful kitchen, with everything you could need, and decorated with a stunning large window mirror with small sofa below, and a print by local photographer, Jon Allison, of Wastwater and Scafell. Microwave, new AEG electric induction-hob cooker and induction pan set, Bosch dishwasher and fridge with pull-out drawers for your convenience. Iron and board provided, with quality AEG washing machine in porch cupboard. Small freezer also in porch cupboards.
In the lounge, you can all get together on the huge, luxurious feature cream leather corner sofa, perfect for reclining after a long fell walk! Plenty of cushions and blankets are provided to make sure you're always super comfortable. There is a large dining table here, too. A quirky, uniquely designed ‘tree of light’ standing lamp, representing Tolkien’s ‘Laurelin The Golden' from The Silmarillion, gives you a rather magical mood lighting option, and on the spacious walls you will find his ‘Bilbo Comes To The Huts of the Raft Elves’ print from The Hobbit, his works being a subject of study and much love for me! There are several other lighting options here, including the cute little silk ‘flame’ feature lamp in the decorative fireplace, giving a homely glow. A superb quality LG 65 inch smart tv will keep you entertained, along with the Sony Playstation 4, on which you can play DVD's or one of the games including Fifa 22 and God of War, lose many hours to The Witcher 3, or swing through Manhattan as Spiderman! My extensive personal collection of DVDS are here for your use, but you may prefer to use Netflix on the Smart TV. Excellent WiFi (BT INFINITY BROADBAND) makes sure Netflix films and sport on the included TNT and Sky Sports Package (streamed through Discovery Plus/NOW TV) work seamlessly. I also leave a good selection of board games for your use, including Trivial Pursuits, Pictionary, Scrabble, and the new Lake District version of Monopoly (please don’t fall out and spoil your stay!). And an excellent electric massager chair is stored behind the sofa in the lounge bay window, and can be moved to any suitable seat near a plug socket. Stiff backs after a day with a pack on are not a problem here!
The Smart 47" TV in the master bedroom lets you watch films or binge series on Netflix or DVD from the comfort of your bed with its memory foam 'Emma' mattress (perhaps with a glass of prosecco stashed in the alcove behind you, which features a fabulous wall mountain mural by local artist Anna Sharpe!). Alternatively, sit on the cosy sofa next to the bed, as the TV can be swivelled to face this instead. I like to have some control of my environment and have plenty of air flow, so I’ve provided a high-end, quiet Meaco dehumidifier with humidistat in both bedrooms, which you can leave to run or switch off as you please. The slightly smaller, but still very comfortable, double bedroom adjacent the lounge also lets you watch Netflix or a DVD from bed on the provided 42” TV.
You'll find a couple of tokens of welcome on arrival, just a taster of some local fare! Toilet paper, towels, bed-linen and pillows are provided, as is a shower mat and soap in the bathroom, and dishwasher tabs in the kitchen, so you need not worry about these things. The bathroom is spacious, as are all the rooms, and has a bath with shower over.
There is space for boots and walking gear in the hall, overlooked by the Lady of Shalott (picture). And there is a useful electric boot-drying rack- not that it ever rains here, of course!
Outside the front door you can perch on one of the little painted benches. Or you can go relax at the little seating area at the communal courtyard entrance.
Your parking space is directly outside Laurelin, and you have the additional benefit of free roadside parking on Wansfell Road down from the courtyard entrance.
It's a really relaxing and pleasant space to be, and I hope you'll love it as much as I do!
Guest access
This is an entire, self-contained 2 bedroom flat suitable for up to 2 couples, with private entrance. 2 bedrooms, bathroom, porch/entrance hall, kitchen, lounge/diner.
Other things to note
I will leave plenty of information in the house to help you during your stay, including a selection of manuals for the various gadgets around the house. And you can always call me if you need to!

About the host
Hosted by mark langwith

I live in Laurelin when it is not occupied by my guests, and enjoy a lifestyle based on the great outdoors here in the Lake District. I love that guests can see a little of my life when they stay here, as well as a lot of the beautiful area I get to call home!
Why they chose this property
The Lake District is perhaps the most picturesque part of England, and I’m so lucky to live right at the heart of this stunning area. As well as being surrounded by mountains and lakes, Laurelin is next to the immediate centre of Ambleside, so there are shops, restaurants and the charm of this gorgeous town right on my doorstep!
What makes this property unique
Lovingly curated over several years, my spacious flat is full of character and individual touches that make it seem like home as soon as you step in the door! I am a huge Tolkien fan, and my place is a little like a cost hobbit hole, with all amenities and comforts, and is a lovely place to wind down after your days exploring the Lakes. The location, in central Ambleside, is the perfect balance of convenience and rural idyll!
