Unique Countryside Villa From The 17th Century, Close To Stockholm

Villa Drottningholm is a beautiful old house from the 17th century, stunningly located close to a horsefarm and the forest right outside with a perfect recreation area. The house is fully modern, carefully restored in a light, country, scandinavian style. It has it´s nice private ground, a newly renovated guesthouse with 2 single beds and a terrace. The property offers complete privacy. The bottomfloor consists of a livingroom with a fireplace, a large kitchen with complete equipment and a fireplace, and a laundryroom. The second floor has a TV-room, three bedrooms one with a kingsize bed, the others with a singlebed in each. A balcony with view over the horse meadow. There is also a nice bathroom with a yaccutzi. Outside in the garden there is a sauna which you heat with firewood. There is a smaller house fulltime rented on the property. They have their own garden and are very quiet, you will hardly take any notice of them.
Communications: Lovö church is 10 min. walk from Villa Drottningholm, from where the buses take you to Brommaplan (Metrostation) Driving a car will take 20 min,unless you choose the busy early morning traffic, between 7-8 am. A more beautiful way to go to the city is taking the classical steamboat leaving from the royal castle of Drottningholm. Takes 45 min. The castle where the royal family lives, is a must to visit itself. The fantastic garden is a popular target for picnics during the summer. Lovö/Drottningholm is an island sorounded by lake Mälaren. You can rent a boat, but it´s best to be arranged in advance.
Weather: Sweden has far lot better weather than it´s rumor. May, June, July and August hare the most stabil months to enjoy the country. The evenings are light, the sun rices extremely early and sets very late. Temp, around 20-25 C. Atumn is during sep-nov with clear skyes and beatiful colours. Dec-feb we will hopefully have snow, since we love celebrating a white Christmas. It is very cosy, especially in our oldfashioned house. We go countryskiing a lot, just outside the door. When spring comes we sit outside as much as we can, enjoying the light and the sun, the barbeque-season starts and is one of the most popular way of socializing in Sweden.

A perfect holiday

We have just rented this beautiful property for a week and wish we could have stayed much longer. The property is spacious and light, and has been lovingly restored and decorated by its owners to a very high standard. It is very well equipped, very comfortable, and set in a lovely, secluded part of the countryside where the only noise is the sound of the birds and the rustle of the wind in the trees. If you want peace and quiet this is perfect, yet still only a 25 minute drive to the centre of Stockholm. The owners, Britt and Mats, are friendly, welcoming and very helpful, even leaving a charged travel card for the local transport network. The property has magnificent views, with a wonderful balcony and summer room to have breakfast in the morning sun and a separate summer house with deck for lunch. We really enjoyed our stay here and would come back tomorrow. Be careful when following a satnav to get here however as it seems to want to take you down a very small, dirt track. Try to program in the address of the stables next door, then turn left!

Fantastic holiday home in an excellent location

We spent a wonderful week in this fantastic house. The owners were very welcoming and were always happy to answer any questions we had. The house is beautiful inside and contains everything you could possibly need. It is only a 20 minute walk to the edge of the lake where you can swim and just a short drive into Stockholm and the surrounding areas. I would highly recommend this property.

Marvellous location, top Housing and very kind and friendly landlord / landlady

We had a great time with our children in this - in every detail fully equiped - house. The place is quiet, near to the forest an the beautiful Mälaren (20 min walking distance). Stockholm by car or bus is very esay to reach. The house with its elegant furniture is an eyecatcher for itself. We can highly recommend Britt and her house. Choose it if you want what we were looking for: A quite lovely place to relax and on the other hand just jump into your car and get into the heart of Stockholm. Britt, we'll see us again! tolle Mischung aus Stockholm und Landleben

Wir hatten eine tolle Woche in einem sehr liebevoll gestalteten Haus. Zum Baden sind wir jeden Tag durch den für die Kinder abenteuerlichen Wald gelaufen. Anscheinend haben wir den schnellsten Weg nicht gefunden - wir haben ca. eine halbe Stunde gebraucht. Dafür würde man aber auch mit einem wunderschönen Schwimmerlebnis belohnt. Der Weg in die Innenstadt war gut machbar, so dass wir auch die Sehenswürdigkeiten von Stockholm genießen konnten. Insgesamt ein gelungener Urlaub!

What a wonderful place !!

My Family and I spent a week at this Villa. The gracious owners greeted us upon arrival and showed us around the property. The house is lovely, spotless and is well equipped. We particularly enjoyed the fresh air and peace and quiet. We definitely recommend this property.

Very cozy house, excellent customer service

We stayed in the Villa with four people, had plenty of space and liked the house very much. It was absolutely clean and the owner provided us with excellent service, especially concerning our arrival. Advice for future guests: It is no problem it you don't have a car, a bus stop is not far away from the house. Only make sure you have got a ticket in advance (online or by app).

Charming house, location - and hosts!

My family and I stayed in Villa Drottningholm for two weeks in September and my only regret is that we could not have stayed longer. The online photos are lovely but do not do the property justice. The house has been painstakingly and tastefully renovated by owners, Britt and Mats, and much thought has obviously gone into balancing originality with modern conveniences. Everything was absolutely spotless when we arrived and all that a visitor could possibly need was to be be found - I don't think I have seen so much cutlery, china and appliances in a kitchen outside of a hotel! The garden is beautifully maintained and waking up in the morning and opening the curtains on a view over lawn, flowers and trees was a treat. Our two-year-old daughter was particularly delighted with the little playhouse on the way to the guesthouse and spent many happy hours there. The location is unbeatable and exactly what we were looking for - completely rural yet still convenient to central Stockholm. We had rented a car and drove the 10 or so minutes to nearby Brommaplan metro station which is just a 20 minute trip from the city centre. However my sister travelled by public transport on a couple of occasions and it took her under an hour from the door of the house to the centre - with a bit of planning and consulting of timetables. On a couple of occasions we drove a few minutes to Drottningholm Palace and took the ferry from there to Stockholm town hall - a more expensive but absolutely gorgeous alternative. An added bonus for horse lovers is that you are a just a few metres from a riding centre/school - the road to the house literally takes you through it! Most mornings we saw riders passing by the garden for a hack along the forest trail and a friendly horse owner even took our daughter for a little ride one day. Finally a word about our hosts Britt and Mats: Our flight arrived rather late in the evening but despite the late hour Mats and his daughter (Britt was travelling) made the effort to greet us and ensure everything was ready for us - right down to fresh flowers and a bowl of sweets - they even made sure we had provisions for breakfast the next day. They were wonderfully friendly and amusing as they explained how everything in the house worked along with suggestions for outings and useful information on transport and shopping. We thank them all - and it goes without saying that we look forward to staying at Villa Drottningholm again before too long!

Perfect stay in beautiful house and surrounding

The house is located perfectly - close to Stockholm city centre (half a hour by public transport) and close to nature. The house is well-equipped and all household appliances are in best condition. The house was clean and kept in best condition. Very useful were the tips of the homeowner. For example, to use public transport to Stockholm or to find the best places to swim close to the house. Many thanks for the nice stay, we would really like to come back to this nice place and we recommend this house to our friends or relatives.

Überwältigendes Traumhaus bei Stockholm

Dieses Haus lässt keine Wünsche offen! Schon der erste telefonische Kontakt mit den Besitzern war total unkompliziert und nett. Bei der Ankunft wurden wir herzlich von Britt und Mats empfangen. Beim gemeinsamen Rundgang durch das Haus wurde uns von ihnen das Gefühl vermittelt "das ist jetzt euer Haus". Was in diesem überwältigend schönen Haus kein Problem war. Wir konnten in jedem Raum nur noch staunen wie liebevoll alles eingerichtet ist. Es fehlt an nichts in diesem Haus. Durch das nebenstehende Gästehaus können hier bequem 6 Personen unterkommen. Trotz der Nähe zu Stockholm ist man mitten in der Natur. Mit den öffentichen Verkehrsmitteln ist man in ca. 40 Min. in der Altstadt von Stockholm bzw. in 15 Min. Fußweg kann man den Sonnenuntergang am See genießen. Oder man entspannt nach einem anstrengenden Tag in der Großstadt in der Badewanne mit Wirlpool! Für den Besuch in Stockholm zu empfehlen: Skansen Park, Vasa Museum, Rüstkammer im Schloss Stockholm. Extra für Kinder: Freizeitpark Gröna Lund. Wir hatten einen wunderschönen Urlaub! Udo und Martina

Außerordentlich empfehlenswert

Eigentlich müsste man hier sechs Sterne vergeben! Eine Top-Lage in sehr ruhiger Umgebung mit dennoch verkehrsgünstiger Anbindung (sowohl öffentlich als auch mit dem Auto) nach Stockholm und Umgebung paart sich mit einer sehr stilvollen Gestaltung des gesamten Anwesens. Das Haus ist sehr geräumig, durch die vielen Fenster sehr hell und bestens ausgestattet - ebenso ist der Garten mit zwei Terrassen, Gäste-, Sauna- und Spielhaus unmittelbar vorm Wald ein Traum. Alles ist in guten Zustand und sauber. Die Vermieter sind sehr freundlich und außerordentlich hilfsbereit. Die Verständigung auf Englisch (überall in der Umgebung) ist einwandfrei. Zwar nicht ganz preiswert aber auf jeden Fall seinen Preis wert. Insgesamt ist eine Reise in die Region um Stockholm unbedingt empfehlenswert.

Ein wunderbares Haus für den Schwedenurlaub

An erster Stelle möchten wir uns bei den beiden Eigentümern für die schöne Woche in ihrem wunderbaren Haus bedanken. Wir buchten sehr kurzfristig und die beiden waren sehr herzlich und hilfreich. Das Haus ist wirklich sehr schön eingerichtet, sehr sauber und mit allem ausgestattet was man benötigt. Wir haben nichts vermisst. Stockholm ist nah. Man kann in ca. 30 min mit dem Auto im Zentrum sein. Möglich ist es auch das Auto an einer der nächsten Tunnelbahn Station zu parken und dann mit eben dieser weiter zu fahren. Aber auch die unmittelbare Umgebung gibt einiges zu sehen, an erster Stelle natürlich das ganz nahe gelegene Schloß Drottningholm. Trotz der Stadtnähe liegt das Haus perfekt für uns mitten in der Natur. Mit unserem zweijährigen Sohn erforschten wir die umliegenden Wanderwege und waren in ca. 20min zu Fuß an einer schönen Badestelle am See. Für uns war es ein perfektes Heim für die Woche. Ich denke es ist zu jeder Jahreszeit schön und wir werden hoffentlich bald wieder Gelegenheit haben ein paar Tage dort zu verbringen.

Traumhaft schönes Schwedenhaus

100% Weiterempfehlung! Man kann man nicht nur alle Vorzüge des nahe gelegenen Stockholms (tolle Museen, Freizeitparks, Events und schöne Restaurants und Bars) genießen, sondern man hat gleichzeitig totale Ruhe und die herrliche Natur Schwedens direkt vor seiner Haustür (Wald mit Heidelbeeren, Pilzen, Himbeeren) und fußläufig (10-15 Min) den riesigen Mälarsee mit einsamen kleinen Stränden und Badefelsen. Das Haus hat den Charme eines alten Schwedenhauses (was es ja auch ist), gleichzeitig ist es von den super netten Besitzern (die auch tolle Tipps geben) sehr behutsam modern, charaktererhaltend renoviert. Zur Ausstattung der tollen modernen offenen Landhausküche gehören z.B. Induktionsherd, Umluftbackofen, Design-Kaffeemaschine, Wasserkocher, Kühl-Gefrierkombi, Küchenmaschine, Spülmaschine und Doppelspüle. Auch scharfe Messer, Milchaufschäumer, Gewürze oder gute Küchenscheren kann man getrost zu Hause lassen. Das Gekochte kann man dann entweder im großen Esszimmer oder am runden Tisch im kleinen romantischen Erker genießen. Oder man setzt sich nach draußen an den schönen weißen Gartentisch. Hier kann man übrigens auch super grillen (großer Gasgrill). Bei längerem Aufenthalt kann man zwischendurch mal waschen. Eine super Waschmaschine, Trockner, Bügelbrett und Bügeleisen findet man in der Waschküche mit Blick in den Garten. Unten im Haus gibt es auch noch einen schönen Eingangsbereich mit Sofa, Garderobe und Schuhablagen und das Wohnzimmer mit Kamin, Kuschelsofa und weiteren Sitzgelegenheiten sowie eine Gästetoilette (im sehr privaten Garten: hübsches Gästehaus mit zwei weiteren Betten und ein Saunahäuschen). Oben im Haus befinden sich drei separate gemütliche Schlafzimmer (Elternschlafzimmer mit Doppelbett und zwei kleinere Zimmer mit jeweils einem Einzelbett), das Fernsehzimmer mit großem Flachbildschirm und das große moderne Bad mit Whirlwanne, Fön, separater Dusche, und zwei Waschbecken. Von oben hat man auch Zugang zum Balkon mit Sitzgelegenheit und vier Stühlen. Von hier aus hat man einen Blick auf das ruhige Nachbarhaus und die Pferdeweide (es gibt weder Mücken, noch Bremsen). Supermarkt, Geschäfte im nahen Eckerö. Nicht verpassen (evt. googeln): Skansen, Vasamuseum, Grönalund, Junibacken für kleinere Kids. Bei Sonne: Schären (Sandhamn), Mälarpaviljongen, Äppelfabricken, Café Ekudden, Hermans Restaurant, Dagens lunch im Ekebyhofs Slot, Solstugan mit Livemusik, Rosenhill (sehr hippiemäßig, aber süß), Rastaholms Värdshus, !Lövö Magasin Lunch!

Et fantastiskt hus til en perfekt ferie

Fotografier er taknæmlige men virkligheden overgår dem, det er et fantastiskst hus som svarer fuldt ud til beskrivelsen og lidt mere. Vi følte os så velkomne af en meget imødekommende vært. beliggenheden så tæt på Stockholm centrum og alligevel ude på landet var perfekt for vor famille, og vi vil meget gerne komme tilbage. Vi anbefaler gerne et ophold i dette hus. hilsen fra Sønderborg i Danmark

Fantastisch

Wir haben 12 Tage im Haus verbracht und Weihnachten sowie Neujahr mit unseren beiden Töchtern und den Partnern gefeiert. Das Haus ist gross und charmant eingerichtet, wir haben uns von Anfang an sehr wohl gefühlt. Die Umgebung ist ländlich und ruhig. Mit dem Auto fuhren wir jeweils zur Metro Station Stora Mossen und eine geringe Gebühr für das Parken bezahlt. Ins Zentrum der Stadt ist man von dort aus schnell und unkompliziert. Stockholm hat sehr viel zu bieten, wir sind begeistert von der Stadt. In der Nähe des Hauses ist das Königsschloss Drottningholm und die Umgebung lädt zu Spaziergängen ein. Die Kommunikation mit Britt war einwandfrei und sehr freundlich. Wir würden wieder kommen.

Entspannte Tage zwischen Stadt und Natur

Wir haben uns in dem großzügigen und gepflegten Haus mit Blick für das Detail sehr wohl gefühlt. Stockholm haben wir mit dem Bus oder mit dem Schiff besucht. Zu den Haltestellen in der Nähe sind wir wenige Minuten mit dem Auto gefahren. Die Bushaltestelle ist aber auch zu Fuß erreichbar. Abends haben wir einen erholsamen Spaziergang direkt vom Haus aus unternommen. Britt und Mats haben uns sehr herzlich empfangen. Wir können die Unterkunft wärmstens empfehlen.

Schwedisches Idyll in Hauptstadtnähe

Wir haben ein wunderschönes, geräumiges, sauberes, komfortables, sehr geschmackvoll eingerichtetes und mit allen Annehmlichkeiten ausgestattetes schwedisches Idyll vorgefunden. Die ruhige, ländliche Lage mit gleichzeitig bester Verkehrsanbindung ins nahe Stockholm hat uns begeistert. Ein wunderbarer Urlaub auf herrlichem Anwesen!

Nach der herzlichen Begrüßung und kurzen Einweisung der Vermieter, konnte wir dieses große Haus mit allen Nebengebäuden übernehmen und genießen. In dem herrlichen, großen Garten gibt es ein Spielehäuschen für kleine Kinder, ein gemütliches Gästehaus mit 2 weiteren Betten bei Bedarf (wurde von uns nicht genutzt) und eine urgemütliche Sauna (Holz wurde ausreichend bereitgestellt), die wir 3 Mal in der Zeit benutzt und sehr genossen haben. Das Haus selbst ist sehr groß mit einer großen, sehr gut ausgestatteten Küche. Generell kann ich sagen, wir waren sehr begeistert, und dazu beeindruckt, denn es gab NICHTS zu Bemängeln und NICHTS, woran nicht gedacht wurde, für jeden eventuellen Wunsch gab es Vorbereitungen. Dazu alles sehr sauber und ein gepflegtes Grundstück. Die Umgebung im Wald ist wunderschön, gegenüber des Hauses gibt es einen Hügel, dort haben und die ersten 10 Tage die Schafe erfreut, bevor sie auf eine andere Weide sind. In unmittelbarer Nachbarschaft, aber nahezu unbemerkt steht das Haus des Sohnes, aber wie gesagt, kaum wahrnehmbar. Eine Ecke weiter befindet sich ein Reiterhof, täglich spazieren die Halter mit ihren Pferden am Haus entlang (also immer mal 1-2,nichts Störendes, sondern einfach nett anzusehen). Man ist sehr schnell am Schloss Drottningholm, auch in der Stadt ist man sehr schnell und günstig mit der U-Bahn, wenn man ein kleines Stück mit dem Auto fährt oder den Bus nimmt, der etwa 900m vom Haus entfernt fährt. Man kann alle Punkte gut erreichen.

Einfach toll!

Wir haben eine wunderbare Woche in der Villa verbracht. Es hat uns dort sooooo gut gefallen, was daran lag: -die extrem herzliche Begrüßung durch die Vermieter -die Lage des Hauses inmitten der Natur am Wald mit Fußweg zum Mälaren -tolle ÖPNV-Anbindung nach Stockholm, binnen weniger Minuten ist man an der U-bahn-Station "Brommaplan" -die Ausstattung des Hauses (es ist ALLES da, was man sich für ein Ferienhaus nur vorstellen kann) -die Atmosphäre des Hauses (sooo gemütlich, man fühlt sich sofort zu Hause) -die vielen Sitzmöglichkeiten draußen, so dass man wahlweise entweder Sonne abbekommt oder ein schattiges Plätzchen findet -die Größe des Grundstücks, ein Traum für Kinder -.... Wer Stockholm erkunden, aber auch gerne etwas Abstand vom Großstadt-Trubel inmitten der Natur haben möchte (so wie wir) ist hier genau richtig aufgehoben. Danke Britt und Mats!

Sehr gemütlich

Wir reisten dieses Jahr zum ersten Mal mit unseren drei inzwischen erwachsenen Kindern nach Schweden. Unter anderem verbrachten wir eine Woche in der Villa Drottningholm. Ja, was sollen wir sagen? Alles aus den anderen Bewertungen stimmt. Wir haben uns wie zu Hause gefühlt und waren total begeistert, besser geht es einfach nicht. Schade, dass Schweden für uns so weit weg liegt, sonst würden wir jedes Jahr kommen. Auf jeden Fall sehr zu empfehlen.

Why they chose this property

We couldn´t beleive our eyes when seeing this ad, the old tired beautiful house at Drottningholm. There are no houses for sale in this area, very raredom. This one must have been a kind of a workes house close to the farm, and it had nothing of modernity we were used to. We spent the winter in the north of Sweden at the time, and my husband Mats took the train to Stockholm, 15 hours, to participate in the auction. We lost, another couple made a higher bid, you can tell we where very disappointed. However a week later the realty agent called, the winner did´nt get the loan he needed. Our bid was now accepted. I hadn´t even seen the place but I new my husband, and could´nt wait until we got the keys. After loads of work, restoring the house over and over, we still love it and people often wonder how we made it, how did we manage buying it? The house is comfortable, cosy and very welcoming. It is clean and very well cared for./Britt

What makes this property unique

The unique benefit of this property is the close distance to the city of Stockholm, and still this is a country area. Our neighboors are farmers. Less than 30 minutues we will reach Stockholm, less than 15 min. walk we will find a private place to swim from, or pick mushrooms or blueberrys. And you can walk to the golfcourse.
