About this property

The Cottage at Nell House is a beautiful oak framed conversion sleeping 4 in two bedrooms. It is located on the edge of the small and peaceful country village of Hannington in the South Cotswolds where the counties of Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and Oxfordshire meet. The village has a "pub" within walking distance and is a great base for exploring the Cotswolds in your car. It is a 90 minute drive from Heathrow Airport.

The cottage has an open plan kitchen living area on the ground floor, with a well equipped kitchen including dishwasher and microwave, and a seating area including two sofas and large TV. There is a twin bedroom on the ground floor as well as a toilet and shower room. The entire upstairs floor is an en-suite double bedroom with separate seating area, sofa and TV. The staircase is open to the ground floor.

The cottage sits in the landscaped grounds of Nell House, with a large decking area, gas BBQ, and outdoor seating for 4. It overlooks the lake and is surrounded by wildlife such as moorhens, ducks, fish and if you're lucky deer and a kingfisher.

There are extensive grounds including a croquet lawn and fields with farm animals.

Unusually for rural areas Ultrafast Broadband of 100 Mbps++ is included making working from the cottage or streaming movies on the Smart TV very easy.

Cute cottage in great location

This cute cottage provided everything we needed for a very enjoyable 5 night stay. Situated in the lovely and quiet grounds of the owners main property who were very engaging and helpful but not intrusive. Great location to enjoy so many beautiful areas of the Cotswolds/Wiltshire.

Lovely country cottage

Directions and arrival instructions were accurate and easy to follow. The cottage is well appointed and spacious. Access to the upstairs bathroom is a little restricted but not a significant problem. As mentioned in the owners description, transport is required as there is nothing in the immediate area. However this means it's a lovely quiet countryside environment. We enjoyed our stay at the cottage and the lovely area.

Cosy cottage in a peaceful location. Kitchen equipment was totally acceptable but would benefit from an upgrade. An ideal rental for people who like nature, birds and wildlife. James and Jo were very welcoming and helpful.

relaxing environment when working away

Ideal location and facilities. Two separate bedrooms each with own bathroom facilities and space to independently watch tv/relax/IT if necessary and socialise comfortably in the shared open plan dining/kitchen/lounge area. Wonderful hosts and superb grounds. A delightful view from every window. Loved it!!

Charming country cottage

Spacious 2 bedroom cottage offered by friendly hosts with Ducks,Horses and Sheep for neighbours. Ideal quiet , relaxing.rural location on edge of Cotswolds in easy reach of many places to visit, shop and eat. We had glorious weather all week and dined outsde every night on the decking beside the large pond.

A special place where you can connect with nature.

The owners live in the main house in close proximity and were welcoming, friendly, helpful and approachable without being intrusive. The grounds (in which we were free to roam) around the cottage are amazing and are home to three horses (and their stables), runner ducks and sheep in a peaceful setting. And there is a lovely big pond at the back of the cottage where breakfast can be enjoyed on a large patio deck. The cottage itself is well equipped and perfect for a couple or a couple with two children. Four adults may find it a little cosy. I am 6’5” in old money and found that head and shoulder room moving around upstairs could be a little awkward but a minor inconvenience considering everything on offer. We certainly enjoyed our week here with plenty to do and see in the area.

A GREAT GET AWAY FROM IT ALL LOCATION

Spent a great week at this property, set in lovely grounds. Perfect for a family who want to get away from it all and enjoy a peaceful location, but still want to be near local attractions for days out. The cottage had everything we needed for a relaxing week away, including a fully stocked kitchen which made self-catering very easy. We loved seeing the wildlife, rabbits, herons, coots and horses in the grounds and around the large pond. Thank you James and family for letting us share your wonderful property and making us feel so welcome.

Great location and relaxing environment

Enjoyed our stay at the cottage despite weather not being ideal for August. So close to many attractions, towns and cities close by. We visited Bath, Oxford and Stratford up on Avon whilst there and enjoyed them all. We also visited some of the smaller cotswolds villages which were also very nice too.

Bliss in the Cotswolds

The Nell Cottage is just as pictured online. It is tranquil and serene and a good location from which to base your explorations. Jo and the girls were charming and very helpful and we loved meeting Freddy and Maggy, their two horses! Really the only things we thought were missing was soap in the bathrooms and washcloths (which we Americans like to have for bathing) and salt and pepper in the kitchen. Hopefully, we'll be able to return someday as we fell in love with the whole area 💜!

Fantastic Week! Would love to visit again!

What a great week have just had at Nell House. Jo, James and the girls were fantastic hosts, on hand when you needed anything but afforded us with plenty of privacy. Our children had a lovely time playing together and were so well behaved! The cottage was fully equipped and very comfortable, even the broadband speeds were out of this world! The grounds are absolutely stunning. It is a great location to explore the wider countryside, an hour from Stonehenge, Salisbury, Bath, just 15 minutes from Cotswold Water Park and many, many National Trust spots only a short drive away. In addition to being very much in the countryside you are only a 20 minute drive into Swindon (which has the biggest Supermarket we have ever seen, very handy to stock up on supplies). I would certainly recommend Nell House to friends and family and would absolutely look to stay again if we ever visited that part of England again. Thank you for a wonderful week!

A place to chill

Property information and places to visit/eat extremely good and useful, directions spot on. Property and location idyllic and a real place to chill. Landlords welcoming and friendly. Easy to access towns Swindon and Cirencester with outlet malls and shopping. Good location for local eating with plentiful selections in surrounding Highworth and other villages. Plenty nearby activities to suit all ages. We thoroughly enjoyed our week stay.

Clean comfortable and quiet.

After 10 days I was almost sad to leave. The cottage was a perfect size for a family of four. The location slightly off the beaten path ticked our boxes. We had a warm and friendly greeting that lasted throughout our stay. I'm sure we will return at some point in the future.

Idyllic retreat

Really warm welcome from Jo and her young daughters. Beautiful surroundings and very comfortable, well equipped accommodation. Gas barbecue and god quality furniture on the large deck, which overlooks a pleasant water garden. A real country retreat in well cared for gardens, but so much to do when you explore the surrounding area. We would highly recommend Nell Cottage for a peaceful, but well located getaway.

A great base for a lovely family holiday!

From the moment we entered the driveway we knew we had picked a great location for a week in The Cotswolds. James and Jo were very welcoming and the cottage was well equipped with everything you could need. The gardens are beautiful and great for the children to explore whilst you enjoy the views of the pond from the decking. The location is so convenient for exploring the many attractions that the Cotswolds have to offer. A fantastic week - only wish we could have stayed longer!

lovely country cottage in beautiful location.

We loved the open plan cottage. It suited our needs perfectly as far as location and accommodation. The cottage was very clean and comfortable. We did find that we had to keep the heating turned up high as most of the heat went upstairs. (It must be said it was November). The actual location of the cottage is an idyllic country setting and the views over the pond are beautiful. Everything has been provided to ensure the enjoyment of your stay. The owners are nearby and are very friendly and helpful. I am quite sure that we will book this property again in the future.

Beautiful place

You really couldn't find a more beautiful place to stay. Jo was so welcoming and helpful and we loved exploring the grounds and surrounding areas. A nature lover's paradise. We liked nearby Highworth too with its interesting shops and historic church. We felt so much at home here, and would love to come back one day. Thank you James, Jo and girls.
