Lovely apartment

This is a lovely, well-cared for property in a central location. Communication with Pierre was excellent and he replied straight away to our enquiry about the internet. Comfortable bed, all you need to cook meals and a modern bathroom with a superb walk-in shower. I would definitely stay here again.

Very good apartment close to brevent lift and town centre

Very good reasonably priced apartment. Close (5mins if that) to Brevent gondola, 10 mins walk to nearest supermarket in town. Ideal for a couple, pull down bed was comfortable and kitchen well stocked with utensils. Ski locker is huge and secure. Don’t expect a massive apartment but it was good for 2 people for a week. Paid €20 euros for linen and towels and cleaned it ourselves (not exactly difficult as it’s a studio apartment) to save €50 charge. Communication with owner was good. Would recommend.

Seemed too good to be true, turns out it was. Read all.

This booking didn't turn out as positively as we'd hoped. At first, Pierre was helpful and communicated without much delay. We checked in/out easily thanks to a key box. Most importantly, there are no towels. You have to buy your own from the supermarket. We had 1 roll of toilet paper for the week, had to buy more. The apartment is in a brilliant location. It's in good condition and you get use of a storage room downstairs for skis etc. The fold down bed isn't comfortable at all. We struggled to get a good nights sleep all week, but that might just be us. The bathroom and shower facilities are great. Shower had good water pressure and hot water was never a problem. The kitchen is well stocked with appliances too. So apart from the bed, the apartment is pretty great, considering the price. After checking out, having left the property in a tidy and relatively clean condition, we received a message from Pierre saying that we had not cleaned the apartment at all and that he was charging us a €60 fee for cleaning of the apartment. Pierre expected us to thoroughly clean the apartment to a professional standard, using the cleaning products. I've never stayed anywhere where that was expected. So know that the apartment might not be properly cleaned when you arrived as Pierre expects the previous guests to do it. This has left a sour taste and makes it feel like a bit of a scam to increase the cost of rental. We did leave some recyclable materials behind, but €60 euros?

An Enjoyable Stay

I enjoyed my stay at this apartment and would be happy to stay again. I had good communications with Pierre and received a warm welcome from Edith, and the location is excellent, being very close to the main gondola lift and city centre. The apartment is very clean, well-organized and comfortable, with a good bathroom and a compact but well-supplied kitchen. Bedding is supplied, but you should bring towels. There are some inaccuracies in the listing- e.g. there is no Internet, phone, fireplace or DVD player- but the owner has said he will fix this.

The rental process went very smoothly. Edith was waiting for us when we arrived at the apartment. The apartment is extremely well equiped and the location is quiet but close to the Town centre. We will return.

Great little studio in a great location!!

We've just returned from a fabulous week at Pierre's studio. He was quick to respond to any queries or questions we had from the moment we booked to the moment we left. Edith met us to show us in and around. The studio is small but was ample for 2 of us. It is very well equipped and very welcoming. The pull-down bed was very comfortable, the shower great and it was a nice touch leaving us a bottle of wine. The location of the studio is amazing, just a few minutes walk up the very steep hill to the Brevent lift and a few minutes walk down the hill into the town. There's a very useful ski locker located on the ground floor which we made use of. Overall, a great stay and would not hesitate to stay again and recommend to others. Thank you Pierre and Edith.

Good size studio apartment with everything you could need. Great shower. Excellent location for Brevent lift and for Chamonix bus to other ski areas. It IS on a steep hill though so need to be prepared for that.

Cozy, comfortable and conveniently located.

I enjoyed my stay at Pierre Guion's apartment. Ideal for a couple or two pals (double bed and fold out single bed). Pierre was always helpful with the booking as was Madame Edith Aubert on site. A nice private french flat. Brevent lift and Savoy nursery slope just 250m up the road. Ski hire at top of road. Easy on site parking. (Snow chains advised if snowing). 5 minutes walk to town centre! Thank you Pierre and Edith. I hope I did the correct thing with the keys! :-)

Lovely clearly apartment in excellent location

The apartment was very easy to find. It was very clean and had all the bits and pieces required for a short stay. It also had a brilliant view and location was second to none! Overall would not hesitate to come back to!

Comme il y a deux ans, nous avons été très bien accueillis, l'appartement est très fonctionnel & bien optimisé.Il est possible de tout faire à pied car très proche du centre ville ainsi que des chemins de randonnées.Pour ceux qui n'ont pas de voiture où qu'ils ne veulent pas venir avec, la gare est assez proche.Je recommande ce logement aux personnes sérieuses & respectueuses des lieux.Un grand merci à M. & Mme GUION ainsi qu'à FlorenceVacances à refaire sans hésitation

Great Location

This studio apartment has everything you need for a great stay in Chamonix. The location is prefect for getting to the ski lift or walking to town. The host is very friendly and responsive. We had a wonderful time during our visit!

Problem Between VRBO and Abritel

This is a difficult review to write, because the property is good and the host seems like a decent man. I only have 1500 characters here, so I'll try to be succinct and honest. It seems there is a discrepancy between the VRBO and Abritel listing platforms. Abritel appears to be the European listing platform for hosts, but US guests access rentals via the VRBO platform. On VRBO nothing in the "House Rules" or "Important Information" states renters are responsible for cleaning before departure. I rent 10-20 short-term rentals a year and they've always included cleaning. As my check out approached, I was told that I should schedule a walk-through with the host's assistant. This seemed unusual, but I contacted her. She wasn't available for the day I proposed and I had to leave for work early on the other day. She said she contacted the owner and I could just leave the key, which I did. Later, the host sent an angry letter because I'd not cleaned the place. He claims it clearly states that on the Arbitrel site. I've checked all over the listing for this unit on VRBO and there's nothing stating the renter must clean it before check-out (this might explain why the property wasn't very clean when I arrived). He then charged my card for $195, saying it would take 6hrs to clean this 258sq ft/24sq m unit(!) The host seems decent and the unit is nice. But if you're a US-based VRBO renter, be aware that the rules you see aren't the rules he enforces. I hope he addresses this.
