Look no further than this lovely barn!

Ideal place to explore the Dordogne. The barn is perfect for a holiday home. Quietly situated in a small hamlet. Extremely well equipped and comfortable beds. Safe garden and great swimming pool. The covered outside space was so useful. We had every meal out there and made full use of the excellent Plancha. We experienced a few minor niggles but these were quickly dealt with by the Agents. Would highly recommend. Thank you for a great holiday stay. Mike and Ali

Great stay in Sabine's lovely villa. Very homely, spacious and comfortable. Large garden with fabulous pool which was maintained immaculately throughout our stay. Check in process was very straight forward. Location great for exploring the gems of the Dordogne.

Dordogne gem

This is a beautiful traditional property of the area which has been tastefully renovated by the owner making it a real home from home for our party of six adults. The setting is perfect for exploring the beautiful villages of the Dordogne as well as the local village and all it has to offer. The actual cooking area in the kitchen is quite small for the size of the room but there was a large kitchen table which seated eight comfortably both inside and outside. There was plenty of crockery, cutlery, utensils, pans etc. The pool and decking areas outside were a good size and provided plenty of shade in the hot weather. We had an issue with the dishwasher in the first few days which caused the electricity to go off and a leak under the kitchen sink but this was dealt with very quickly by the property manager and a replacement dishwasher was provided. There was no change of bed linen provided which could have been a problem in bad weather as the tumble dryer did not work. However we had lots of lovely weather so it was not a problem. There were plenty of towels in an upstairs cupboard. Overall we had a wonderful stay and would thoroughly recommend this property. We certainly would like to visit again.

Beautiful house, great bbq (v efficient)

We were 8 adults and a baby. Twin room a bit of a squeeze but all other bedrooms lovely. Loads of room to spread out, one of the best bbqs we have come across and a sun recliner for everyone! Such lovely outdoor spaces, and a super warm pool, although not so deep. We had a couple of issues with our dishwasher and pool but problems were dealt with super fast and efficiently. Such a pleasure. Fabulous house and much enjoyment was had by all. One little bonus was the discounts issued when we spent money at the Petit Casino supermarket in Le Buisson-de-Cadouin, saved us so much money and run by a lovely couple! Sarlat-la-Canéda was far too touristy and a nightmare to park in. Beynac Castle was wonderful, particularly if you go nice and early. Chateau des Milandes was highly enjoyable too.

Lovely tranquil traditional farmhouse

We arrived on a very wet Saturday night, once inside the property we were presented with a charming traditional farmhouse with soft furnishings. We all were a bit bedragled as we'd travelled in persistent rain for 2 and half hours but Catheryn was so kind to organise food and a well received bottle of wine for us. The property is set out really well with a good size living area and a large kitchen. Upstairs the bedrooms are a good size with comfortable beds and en-suit. The Kitchen had all the utensils which you need to cook up a great meal and with the lovely under cover decked area outside was a great place to eat and hide from the Dordogne heat if it gets too much. The pool outside was a good size and a lovely place to soak up the sun! The kids spent hours in and out of the pool and there were many things in the shed which could be used in the pool, inflatable dolphin name (Derek), badminton rackets, French boule, pool tennis rackets and balls. The Farmhouse is set amongs a large garden which in the morning we were lucky enough to see Roe Deer and red squirrels playing. There are many places to visit around the area, Bergerac and sarlat being just two of the lovely cities. I'd advice going to Domme, it's our second time there but has such great views of the Dordogne river that's it's worth time to sit and eat ice cream and soak up the atmosphere. On a whole we arrived in heavy rain which lasted 3 days but didn't damper our spirits as there was lots to do in the property, DVDs , games, English TV, but once the rain cleared and the BBQ was lit ,wine opened and the sun was shining I can honestly say we couldn't have picked a more peaceful place to have our French holiday experience. Many thanks also to John our pool cleaner who came twice a week to clean the pool, charming man and very helpful. Once again our holiday in the Dorgdone was a joy and many thanks to Cathryn for letting us stay in such a beautiful property. Roger and Sarah Moore

Beautiful & relaxing property in perfect location

This property is just as lovely as in the photos, but if offers much, much more than photos can capture. It is as spacious as the photos suggest, very tastefully furnished with everything you need for a 'home from home'. The pool is a perfect size with a really good decked area around it with plenty of room to spread out, and even a nice little bit of shade from a tree! There is a large area of secure garden with plenty of room for playing games (our two little dogs loved it and didn't find an escape route!). The outside dining table on the veranda area is one of the real highlights of the property giving shade in the daytime and getting the evening sun. True care has been taken by the owners to ensure guests have everything they need. The kitchen is very well equipped with plenty of pots, pans, china, cutlery, glasses etc. The location is perfect with the friendly town of Le Buisson de Cadouin just a 20 minute pleasant walk away. There's a good variety of shops in the town and a very good English speaking vet if you take your dogs and need to do the pre-return visit. There are caves to visit just a few minutes from the property, kayaking etc. a very short drive away, lots of excellent restaurants. This was our second year of visiting this property as we had enjoyed it so much last year and this year we loved it just as much. I hope we will return again in the future.

Relaxing week in beautiful house, garden and pool

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at La Vieille Grange. The house was very roomy, comfortable and well maintained, the pool clean and warm. We ate on the lovely decked verandah. We loved relaxing in the peace and quiet of the house and garden, but also visited Sarlat, swam in the river, watched glass blowing and dined out at the restaurant up the hill at Limieul.

Beautiful house and pool made for a restful break.

The house is really well appointed and homely with the kind of luxuries you would like in your own home. There is plenty of space for the family so it never feels cramped. And the terrace is a real feature. Overlooking the garden and pool it offers both full sun and shade for different moments of the day. The pool is also a good size and the decking offers plenty of space to chill out. This part of the Dordogne is unspoilt and there are lots of lovely restaurants nearby. Don't miss the market in La Buisson - well worth a wander and to stop for a coffee and croissant and watch the world go by. The owner was very helpful with the instructions as well as a Welcome folder with lots of great suggestions for trips out, activities and places to eat. A peaceful and restful break had by all.

Lovely farmhouse set in peaceful countryside

This is a lovely old house - it was idyllic sitting on the verandah with views down the garden to the pool. The house, garden and pool were all spotless and very well maintained and the house has everything you could need. The owner has provided lots of information both about the house but also about local attractions, markets, restaurants and places to visit. We had a very relaxing holiday, would recommend to family and friends and will definitely return.

Idyllic home from home with 5 star feeling

A perfect holiday home which we visited with our family of two adults and two kids under 10. Set in the bucolic Dordogne countryside, with views over forests, in the small village of Fontenille, this converted barn is a magnificent, spacious structure, renovated to the highest standards. The well equipped kitchen seats eight easily, and the huge lounge has is both spacious yet cosy, perfect for curling up and watching the TV amongst the beautiful art on the walls. All the bedrooms are a good size, with very comfy beds. But its outside that really made the holiday for us. Doors open up from the lounge onto a covered deck with a huge table for eating outside form the bbq, and perfect for relaxing with a glass of wine after a dip in the large heated pool. The garden is massive and great for playing games with the kids when you can get them out of the pool! The barn is centrally located for nearly every attraction of the Dordogne - you can pop down the road to Le Buisson-de-Cadouin for your bread in the morning (15 min walk), or have a great meal in one of the top restaurants there, and a must see is the Grottes de Maxange a stroll down the road for amazing caves. Of course there are a huge number of other places you can visit in the car to see the wonderful history and the fabulous community in the Dordogne. From pop up mushroom markets to striking castles and gardens and prehistoric sites, Fontenille is centrally located and you will certainly not run out of things to do. The barn was extremely clean when we arrived and the gardens and pool very well kept. All the correspondance witht he owner, who speaks fluent french as well as English was excellent. We can't recommend this place enough and will be back to continue to explore the Dordogne form Fontenille in the future.

Lovely location, lovely building, well equipped

The location absolutely beautiful and the building has great charm and appeal. The pool was very welcome and really clean and well maintained. There was more than ample crockery etc and the discovery of such wonderful caves (Les Grottes de Maxange) within a short walk was something special. Pleanty of good restaurants in surronding villages various interesting castles and chateaus within easy drive.

Heerlijk ontspannen verblijf!
