Peaceful 18th Century Weaver's cottage , perfect for a weekend retreat!!
An old stone terrace cottage , with all the character you would expect from an historic property built in 1759. This delightful spot has fantastic views from the lounge and the front bedrooms, situated as it is in the heart of the West Yorkshire countryside and the Hamlet of Oldfield. With 2 wood burning stoves (one with small oven), stone walls, exposed beams and a relaxing vibe, this house is not only peaceful but near to walks, cafés, pubs and restaurants and is also a popular cycling area. The cottage has a raised platform outside with benches, unfortunately not the garden in front, but with the countryside literally on the doorstep and a small park 100 metres away there is plenty of outdoor space to relax in. There is also an outbuilding that can be used as a bicycle store for up to 3 bikes if requested. If you want to just relax, this is a fantastic property to re energise your soul.

It was a lovely space for our little family Christmas celebrations. Quiet, tidy and very nicely decorated with clear instructions on how to use all the facilities at the property. However even with the extra directions sent by the owners, the cottage was still very difficult to locate.
Liked: Cleanliness, amenities, property conditions & facilities, communication
Only problem was no working wi fi as
Advertised. Could have done with availability of a few blankets as it was cold overnight.
Property was lovely and quiet and on the whole an enjoyable weekend
We planned to do the trans-pennine ale trail backwards (Huddersfield to Stalybridge) but the cottage and surrounding area was that beautiful and peaceful we decided to go the local farm shop and bought some local produce and cooked some delicious food and stayed in for the duration of our stay it was the best decision absolutely loved it we can not wait to return
The cottage was just as described: clean, well equipped and plenty of character. The large lounge was very comfortable and had wonderful views. It was a great cottage to return to after days out, and Holmfirth had plenty to explore. Overall a lovely stay
We only stayed in the cottage for 2 nights but greatly enjoyed it. Lovely cottage, fantastic views, all the facilities you would expect, everything clean and in working order.
Absolutely beautiful cottage, really clean, cosy, amazing views, lovely friendly hosts who were really helpful. We had a wonderful time in the beautiful countryside location.
We would highly recommend this property.
Loved our stay in Holmfirth with family members. Great to catch up and have fun together after so long. The views are amazing! Beautiful cottage. Stairs very steep and low ceilings which are typical of the era. Be careful if you’re a bit older though. Recommended.
We had a fabulous time for my husbands 50th birthday. So relaxing and the property itself is gorgeous, incredibly comfortable, the kitchen was fantastic. We would highly recommend this. The owners were really helpful if you needed anything, responded really quickly to any queries.
I stayed for two nights with my family members, pet friendly, we had one small dog stayed with us, the cottage come with three floors, it is fully equipped with the kitchen and bathroom, the living room is quite big, very comfortable to live in. Contactless check in and out, very convenient! We will come back for a longer stay
A charming character property within its own small hamlet, homing lovely helpful people. Pristine and well equipped, the cottage provides tranquillity and calm. Country walks are plentiful and on your doorstep. A must for anyone who wants to leave the 'rat race' behind. Nearby Homefirth a 'must' to visit. Highly recommended.
The cottage was ideal for our holiday, after a busy day walking and sightseeing was perfect to come and relax.
There is no garden but fields out the front door to be able to regularly walk the dogs.
It is in walking distance to the local shop, cafe and pub, and a short walk to Holmfirth across fields, where there are plenty of cafes and restaurants.
I would definitely visit and recommend to others.

Why they chose this property
We bought this property as our quest to buy a bigger house near our current home in the Peak District had fallen flat. With our search extended, we happened upon this cottage and instantly got that feeling. It is our peaceful retreat and we love it!
What makes this property unique
Peace and quiet, walks, Yorkshire, nearby villages and towns and the mood of the house can feel the history.
