About this property

Beautiful Log Cabin in a Stunning Location with Mountain and Loch Views

Ronaldsay is a beautifully refurbished log cabin sitting high in the private Seaview Grazings estate, Strontian, with stunning views down Loch Sunart. The area around Strontian is an outdoors-lovers paradise, with beautiful beaches and numerous walks. The cabin sits on a private site, with no other cabins overlooking it. The nearest pub and shop are a 5 min walk, with the village centre being another 5 min along the road.

Ronaldsay features extensive living space, with two sitting areas each with WiFi and large flat-screen TVs. Each TV has both Freesat installed and there are two Blu-Ray players each with internet capability for all standard catch-up services (BBC iPlayer etc). The main lounge has a wood burning stove with views over Loch Sunart to the mountains, while to the rear there is an open-plan kitchen/dining/living area. The rear living-room has views south through large french doors over the loch and mountains.

There are three bedrooms, with the south bedroom having a king-size bed and views south across the loch. The second bedroom has a double bed, with views to the west down Loch Sunart, and the smallest bedroom has a single bed.

The kitchen is well equipped, having a dishwasher and large fridge/freezer. There is also a separate utility room. There are two toilets - one of which includes a large shower cubicle. Hot water is provided through a thermal store, giving fantastic mains-pressure showers.

There are two decks, one each at the front and the rear.

The cabin has been refurbished to a high standard, both internally and externally. It has been fully insulated and re-clad externally, making it very cosy in the winter. It has also been re-roofed, again with good insulation levels, and two large roof windows have been installed, filling the rooms with plenty of natural light.

NOTE: Ronaldsay sits on an elevated site on a fairly steep hill. This means that there are risks around the garden for very young children, who would have to be kept closely supervised.

Beautiful Cabin Stay in Strontian

We stayed here for our honeymoon and had a great time amongst the stunning views of the Scottish Highlands. Bob was super helpful and gave us great suggestions of activities in the local areas and places to eat/drink. Would definitely stay again.

A lovely gem in the Scotland

Here’s a review based on your description: A Highland Gem Our stay in this Scottish cabin was absolutely delightful. The stunning views of the lake, combined with the cozy and well-equipped cabin, created the perfect getaway. We were especially impressed with the nearby castle, which made for a fascinating day trip. Bob, our host, was incredibly friendly and helpful. He was always quick to respond to any questions or requests, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable stay. We would highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a peaceful and picturesque retreat in the Scottish Highlands.

Perfect

We loved our stay here, so peaceful with gorgeous views. The cabin was well set out for families with two TV rooms and the bedrooms being on the other side of the house. The cabin was so clean and the kitchen had everything you need to cook good meals. Hopefully we’ll be back!! We loved it and didn’t want to leave!!

Perfect Strontian stay

We had a great week with unexpectedly good weather for October. The cabin was very clean and comfortable and was perfect for all the areas we wanted to explore. The view from the cabin was superb, during the day and for star watching at night.

Just had the most fantastic honeymoon!

Ronaldsay is the most amazing, fabulous, home from home cabin you could ever stay in. We wanted somewhere quiet and remote for our honeymoon after all the stress and excitement of the wedding and the cabin did not disappoint. The views are iconic and stunning, we had pink, purple and red skies at night and knocked it off with the weather. The first night, we stared up at the sky for ages, it is so dark and we could see a million stars and shooting stars, it was amazing! The cabin has everything you could need and more. It is so spacious, so cosy and warm, the wifi was really good for being so remote and both tvs were fab once you sort out which remotes do what. We brought lots of food, cooked meals and had a few cosy movie nights. We also got a ferry to Mull and drove to Tobermory on a gorg sunny day. We did a few forrest walks, went to an amazing Gallery in Resipole, well worth a visit, also saw some seals, herons and cormorants at a hide just nearby and walked for 1+1/2 hrs to get to Singing Sands beach which was remote and beautiful, well worth the walk there n back. Spoke to Bob the owner a few times and he was very helpful and quick to reply to any questions, anything you need, just ask Bob. He also left us chocs and prosecco as a wedding gift, which was so kind and thoughtful. The local shop is handy just 5mins away and sells everything, if a bit pricey but to be expected. We didn't want to leave but I'm almost certain we will be back here in a heartbeat. Thank you Bob

Lovely cottage with stunning views

Would highly recommend this place. The cottage was lovely with stunning views overlooking the loch. It was well equipped with everything needed for self catering. Bob was a great host and very accommodating. Would add that the property is up a steep hill and for some elderly people it might be a challenge.

A place to relax

Great location with a fantastic view. Not overlooked. Not too far to travel to the ferry to Mull. Stunning scenery everywhere with plenty of walks. Hardly saw anyone wherever we went in the area, which suited us for a relaxed ‘get away from it all’ holiday. Communication from Bob was excellent, with the most comprehensive notes of anywhere we have stayed. Take note of all the advice with the log burner and you’ll have cosy fire in no time. Although even without the fire, the cabin was always warm enough with plenty of hot water. Great place to stay.

Amazing cabin

We have just returned from this amazing cabin after spending Christmas there. When we arrived Bob the host had put on the heating and some lighting, the cabin is more than equipped with everything you need and is spotless. There is a mini mart a short walk away that sells most things and a bar attached to the local hotel. We honestly could not fault anything about the cabin and Didn’t want to leave it. Our many thanks to Bob the owner for his fantastic quick communication on all aspects.

Highly Recommended

A cosy, comfortable, roomy cabin with a well equiped kitchen in a peaceful location with stunning views of Loch Sunart. We had a good two weeks holiday at Strontian, visiting the surrounding area and walking the Great Glen. We had the pleasure of seeing a pine marten at the french doors of the cabin one afternoon. There is a well equiped mini-market in the village within walking distance of the cabin. Many thanks to Bob for having us stay at his cabin and for his swift responses with any questions we had. We would highly recommend the cabin to anyone looking to stay in the area.
