About this property

Beautiful cottage overlooking Belfast Harbor.

Enjoy the great Mid-Coast of Maine with all of its greatness, from sailing, lobster, state parks, hiking and quaint towns. Sit and relax and have a wonderful view of Belfast harbor from both decks. This wonderful air-conditioned 3 bedroom, 2 bathrooms (each with a shower) cape code style home has been tastefully redesigned and completely furnished by award winning Janis Stone, from Interiors By Janis. The coastal home features a wrap around deck on the first level, and a smaller lookout perch from the top deck. Take a short walk over the new footbridge to downtown Belfast to shop or enjoy one of the fun-filled events this summer in the lovely and culturally cool town of Belfast or take a nice long walk on the new rail to trail. Young's Lobster Pound and Perry's are also a short walk from our home. The town of Camden is 18 miles south and Bar Harbor is 58 miles north of Belfast.

The Beauty of Belfast: Belfast is a charming coastal town that represents the best of what a Maine vacation has to offer! The small town has restaurants and shops that make it fun for the whole family. The activities at the waterfront make this a great spot to spend a week or a month. Enjoy plays, concerts, and other cultural activities. Belfast has been called a culturally cool town. There are making working artists in town and they usually have their work on display.

Please check our www. belfastmaine.org for great insight to the town and area.

Location and charm

This was a solid 5 star, charming, and beautifully maintained property. The owner is extremely communicative, and is committed to ensuring that his guests have an enjoyable stay. One of the finest features was being close to the footbridge into Belfast. We walked in and out of town a couple of times each day.

Great location with a wonderful view

Cozy cottage in a great location with a wonderful view. Easy and scenic walk to downtown just over the footbridge and the nearby rail trail is great as well. Views of the working shipyard are a plus. Appointed with all the basics and great communication with the host. Expansive deck that must be extra nice in summer. Great stay!

Great Little House in Belfast

We are two retired couples and we had a perfect visit to Belfast. Nothing has been overlooked in this sweet property. It is super clean and cozy and equipped with everything you need in your home away from home. Great location with a lovely harbor view and the walk across the bridge into town adds to the charm. Thank you for helping make our trip to Maine memorable and convenient!

My colleagues and I had an excellent stay!

The accomodations were top notch, spotless and beautifully maintained. We found the house to be an excellent spot for a BBQ as well as walking distance to some great eateries (Young's Lobster Pound, Darby's, Dockside) and colorful local pubs (Rollies, Three Tides, the Lookout.) Dennis was a pleasure to deal with and I hope to do business with him again when the opportunity allows.

Super clean and tidy!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The beds were very comfortable and each bedroom had it’s own AC. I used the sound machine provided to de-energize every night. It is obvious the owner cares about your stay, as he checks in with you during your stay. Sweet spot for Mid-coast Maine vacation!

Great location, nice home, very clean

Loved this home! A short walk to the foot bridge and across to downtown made this the perfect location. Views of the water from virtually every window. The home was very well appointed with everything we needed for our stay and was very clean! We plan to return in the future. The owner was very helpful and responsive to any questions. Highly recommended.

A wonderful experience!

The location and the facility were superb. The proximity to the foot bridge and trail was a big plus allowing us to walk to downtown Belfast as well as on the nearby trail. The view of the port was fantastic day or night. The proximity to the downtown allowed us to be in the town but with a country feeling. The way the bedrooms were situated afforded us the privacy of using the second floor while our guests used the first floor bedroom/bathroom. We would definitely like to return. Dennis is a wonderful host.

Excellent but...

Lovely home, nice walking distance from village of Belfast. However, property backs up onto US 1, which makes it very noisy a night. This should not be a problem for persons accustomed to road noise but for the rest of us it unfortunately is a problem.

Fall in Maine

This was an awesome place to stay. Very clean, nice decks, over the top furnished. Besides food, it had everything you need. Everything from towels to shaving cream, shampoo to books, you couldn’t ask for more. The view were great. Location was perfect. Can visit the nice town of Belfast right across the harbor walk bridge which is right there. It is located so we drove to Nar Harbor (twice) Acadia national park and then Portland for great sites and light house. Dennis communicated through the entire process and great advise for locations all week. Great Stay!

Adorable Cottage on Route 1

Clean neat and plenty of space. Kitchen fully equipped with all the little things you appreciate from home...sharp knives, hand mixer, blender etc. Deck is awesome and view of Belfast Harbor is so pretty and quaint. What I wish I knew and didn't is that the back of the house is literally on Route 1...Constant truck, truck brake and traffic noise day and the night.

Beautiful location, all the details

This is a great central location to everything up and down the coast. The house is well equipped and super clean. Sheets/beds/pillows very comfy. Loved the walk over the water into town. The ONLY drawback is that it is right on Route 1 and you can hear a lot of cars/trucks/traffic on the weekdays. It would not prevent me from booking again though- was super easy access to get to everything, including grocery store, etc. Dennis was super easy to work with and flexible on our arrival/departure time as well. Was a great trip.

Happy Repeat Renters!

This is the second year that my parents, daughter and I rented from Dennis, and if possible this stay was better than the first! The house was absolutely spotless and the check-in process was a breeze. The house is well furnished with ACs throughout. Where we spent our first summer exploring further out (Acadia, Castine, Rockland) this year we chose to stick closer to home to better experience what Belfast has to offer. The town has great restaurants, shops, and our favorite beer garden, all within walking distance. There’s a really nice golf course in neighboring Northport. We spent a lot of time reading, relaxing and enjoying the beautiful views from the deck of our home. I would definitely recommend Dennis and his beautiful home to anyone looking to visit the Belfast area.

Pleasant stay at charming harborside cottage

We (myself, my wife, and 2 kids) enjoyed a wonderful stay at Dennis' cottage overlooking Belfast Harbor. The cottage's location, although near the main road, made for easy access up and down mid-coast Maine. We ranged as far south as Owl's Head and as far north as Bucksport, and were able to enjoy a number of the attractions in the area, including Fort Knox, the Penobscot Narrows Observatory, Belfast Harbor, Camden, Rockport, Rockland, and Birches Point State Park. Also, who can forget being able to walk across the footbridge, which we took advantage of almost daily to enjoy the beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Dennis and Jim made our stay comfortable and quickly remedied the few issues we faced. Dennis also provided helpful suggestions for area dining venues which we took advantage of (e.g., Camden Deli and great view on 2nd floor deck). The kids didn't want to leave towards the end of the week and we would definitely look forward to returning again!

Top Condition Cottage, Top Location, yes, there is some road noise

Dennis is a superb landlord, bending over backward for us as our plans shifted with COVID travel issues. The cottage is clean and fresh. We've stayed for many years in various rentals; sometimes the "Maine shabby chic" style is truly shabby. This cottage is of the style but not shabby - it is clean and fresh. The location can't be beat - walk to downtown, walk to Young's Lobsters, short drive to the supermarket. The wraparound deck is where we spent most our time - wonderful, and again, not worn or splintery. A super plus is the AC. Not many Maine cottages have it, and when it is hot, a cottage can retain heat and make you miserable. There is road noise in one bedroom and the bathroom, but AC and sound machine obliterate it. Highly recommend.

Harbor Watch Getaway Vacation

In August ,2011 we spent a week at Harbor Watch cottage in Belfast, Maine. Being from Dallas, we were anxious to get out of the heat, relax and enjoy some local lobster. My husband and I, daughter and 13 year old grandson thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Harbor Watch. The cottage was very clean and comfortable and had all the amenities we needed. The owner was very accommodating and checked in with us a couple of times to see if we had everything we needed. The city of Belfast was charming, and we enjoyed walking over the footbridge into town. There were two decks overlooking Belfast Harbor and we often sat outside to enjoy the view and peaceful setting. Our favorite dinner was bringing home 2 pound lobsters from Youngs Lobster Pound and eating at the cottage. Places we enjoyed visiting were Camden, Lincolnville, Rockland and Acadia National Park. We would love to go back to Maine in the future and highly recommend Harbor Watch as an excellent place to vacation! Nancy & Jerry J, Dallas, Texas & Debbie and Thomas H, Fort Worth, Texas

Fantastic Mid-Coast Home

Just wrapped up a great week in Belfast. Our family (me, my parents and my adult daughter) loved the area and especially the home. The location is great, close to downtown but with a remote feel. The first thing that struck us was how spotlessly clean Dennis' home was, followed by the amazing view from the oversized deck. The house was well appointed, with plenty of fluffy white towels and comfy beds. In addition to the living room, each bedroom has an air conditioner and a white noise machine, which come in helpful as the back of the house is right on Rte. 1. Don't be turned off by the proximity to the road, we barely noticed it as most of our time was spent on that amazing deck at the front of the house. The location is great, an easy jumping off point to many area attractions, including Camden (30 minutes), Bar Harbor (a little under 90 minutes) and Castine (45 minutes). The town itself is really cool, and includes a boardwalk that goes right through a working shipyard (don't miss the presidential schooner Sequoia, thanks Dennis for the tip on this!), several excellent restaurants (Darby's was our favorite) and lots of great shopping. There is also a 2.5 mile rail trail nearby. Dennis was an amazing and attentive host, offering suggestions on things to do and places to eat. I would highly recommend this rental for anyone looking to explore and enjoy the coast of Maine.

Wonderful find in our favorite Maine town!

An absolutely beautiful property that exceeded our expectations. We've vacationed near Belfast Maine for several years, but this was the first rental at this cottage. It is immaculate and delightfully decorated. Air conditioning was a great plus, especially during this extended hot spell we've been having in the northeast. The view was wonderful, and a few steps away was the footbridge which we had never walked over during our vacation stays elsewhere. Belfast is a great town with a great vibe. People are friendly, stores are interesting, restaurants offer variety, and since it's not right on route 1, it's a bit quieter with a hometown feel without the hustle and bustle of towns such as Camden and Rockland. They are wonderful too, but it's great to get "home" to Belfast after a day trip to other places in midcoast Maine. We like to shop in Hannaford and also in the Belfast Coop. At the location of the former Weathervane restaurant which was closed last year, we were pleased to see the Nautilus, formerly a bit further north on route 1. So glad to see this great spot occupied with a very nice restaurant! We also really like dining on the deck at Dockside; enjoying creative vegetarian food at Chase's Daily; and the delicious lobster pad thai at Seng Thai! Dennis was completely responsive to any questions we had. Can't wait to come back next year!

My wife and I purchased this beautiful home several years ago, and look forward to spending a great deal of our retirement years here. We hope our guests enjoy our home as well as the town of Belfast and the surrounding areas as much as we do!

Dennis and Kerry

Why they chose this property

The property is set up nicely for either one couple to enjoy or up to six guests. The large deck, which several Adirondack chairs that face the harbor make it for a very relaxing time. The house has been decorated by award winning interior designer Janis Stone.

What makes this property unique

The house is located near the footbridge, which provides access to the Main Street and the Belfast water front. The short walk over the footbridge provides spectacular views of the harbor. On the west side of the footbridge, the new rail to trail providers walkers, runners, bike riders a peaceful venue to enjoy views of the harbor as well. Belfast is located very close to the towns of Camden, Northport, Lincolnville, Searsport. There is a beautiful maritime museum in Searsport. Moosepoint State Park is a 3 minute drive to the north, and Fort Know and the Penobscot Observatory is a 15 minute drive to the north.

The town has such a quaint feel to it. There are several restaurants to visit, some on the waterfront and a few on Main Street. All very casual and perfect for a couple or families.

We have a good collection of books and movies for our guests to enjoy during their down time.
